First Impression: Ti Click EDC Pen

In this video I take a closer look at a titanium click pen from BigIDesign, called the TI Click EDC. The pen came to be through a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2018. I received the pen a week or so ago and decided to give my first impression.

Hey James!! Thanks for the comment. Out of curiosity what ink do you use. I love my pen but the ink it came with ghosts a lot and has a tendency to a spill ink on the page a bit too much for my liking.

On this pen, the spring has different size openings at each end. When using smaller Parker G2 size refills, the smaller end of the spring should be facing the refill. When using larger Pilot G2 or rollerball refills, the larger end of the spring should be facing the refill. Just something to note.

I have all three finishes. On later models the self adjusting collet is somehow different. It has a desire to catch on the ridge of certain refills where the nib is attached to the cartridge. It depends on how far the ridge is from the tip. I actually returned one pen before I worked out the solution. The spring on my Ti Bolt version was slightly stiffer. I swapped it over and there was no more catching as the ridge passed the collet. BigIdesign have been fantastic and I hope they either put in a slightly stronger spring or alert customers who have found certain refills don't retract smoothly. Awesome pens. Now I just have to push it a tad harder to get it to operate seamlessly.

Solution for pen wiggle: If your pen wiggles at the rubber rings, and the beginning of the tip ( this could be because you are using a longer refil, at least I do) I suggest you putting some basic cello tape around the rubber rings. Nothing fancy, just some tape. This fixes the pen wiggle, and it's a much more substainable solution than shoving the extra rubber rings you get down the tip...trust me. Also, it doesn't make any crinkling sound, like I though it would. Remember, the wiggle migth be the ink cartridge inside. TO SUM UP: Pen wiggles, put cello tape around the end of the barrel, migth take two layers. It's going to be difficult to screw in, but that's good. I hope I helped.

Hey Hohmies Mcfly! Would writing on a piece of paper help you to make a better decision about purchasing this pen? I didn’t include any of that footage as the Ti EDC click pen can use over 100 different ink cartridges / refills and the review was about the pen itself, not the ink that came with the pen. Are you looking for an ink cartridge review or a suggestion of which type of ink to purchase for this pen?
