First fire up of the 1964 Ford 4000 Rowcrop

Bleeding the injection system and starting of the 4000 rowcrop restoration after 2 years of work. Lots a troubleshooting needed but it's a runner.

Cost wouldn't be an issue but hours spent, who knows. Sometimes I spend all day working on stuff and other times I can't do stuff for weeks. Had to wait 3 weeks to sandblast the power steering pump and lift arms due to rain here lately.

Appreciate you posting. I have 172 engine in my 861 diesel. It runs very good. A little blue smoke out the tailpipe, which makes me wonder if my calves need adjusting. I set them at about 0.016” cold. Any advice? Thx. 😊

Blue smoke is oil burning. A tiny bit is normal. Excessive smoke can be rings/piston bore or injector seals. Valve seals dont really do much on these engines which is where the small amount of blue can come from. Usually get some gray smoke when revving. If you set the valves cold I'd go closer to 0.014" since everything expands with heat.

Great video, just curious, where did you get the exhaust elbow with bracket? I’m trying to put a 4000 row crop together and need one.

My fuel filter "housing" i guess you would call it is leaking literally everywhere from places on the bottom and the little brass nut on top. Any idea where i could pick up a new one or is there some seals in mine i could fix?

There are some seals on the brass fittings from what I can remember. Probably just some o-rings. The main seals are on the filter. As for the housing I don't know of any new ones so you'd have to locate a good used one.

I get parts from all over the place. Just8ns, yesterdays tractors, steiner tractor, and ebay to name a few. Love the 801 series diesels. Have an 861-D that I redid 10 years ago. Runs like a champ.

@@stevenreeves4766 not really sure how wanting people to be safe detracts from a video. As for your line it's not available new and will have to be repaired or replaced with good used.
