First Day with my Indian Scout Bobber and Demo Ride Mishap! First Bike
My first Motovlog! Just got the 2021 Indian Scout Bobber (ABS) in Thunder Black Smoke. This was my first day with it. Its also my first Motorcycle ever! I talk about the crazy Indian Scout Bobber test Drive (crazy for me) or demo ride if you will. It was my real first Motorcycle ride on anything bigger than the Grom I learned on in the MSF course. My Motorcycle Stalls on First Gear :/ and During this first vlog two vehicles actually take my right of way but like Blockhead always says "Ride Safe, Stay Vigilant" and I did. But that's not the crazy story check it out and please leave a comment on if you think it was a decent first video. I'm also learning Premier Pro as I go. But props on keeping your cool on that bobber. Hell yeah!! Congrats! Love mine too
I bought this same bike. I've been riding about 20 yrs. I love how this tears so hard in 2nd gear with no real concerns of the front wheel breaking pavement or the rear wheel slipping. I go from 0-60 in second all the time. The ride home at night is nice but the headlight is pretty lack luster. Rode kill comes up quick but the light weight nimbleness of this bike makes for a quick and easy swerve. Im still waiting on my highway pegs for my highway bars. With the comfort seat, the stretch out with my 5'10" frame will be perfect. Wind management comes with conditioning and time. I don't like windshields so naturally this bike was good choice. Anyway, have fun man. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Congrats on the new bike and the motovlog and stay safe out there! Most bikes I've ridden won't shift more than 1 gear if they aren't rolling a little. If you aren't sure what gear you are in and you can't shift while stopped try letting the bike roll a bit while downshifting and you should start clicking through those gears. I doubt there is anything wrong with the bike, pretty consistent with my experience with all types of bikes. :)

If a little roll doesn't work just let the clutch out a little bit to get the gears to turn a little and it should line up alright to shift down. Each bike has it's idiosyncrasies that you have to get used to.
@RickyBobber
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. This I've gotten this figured out now. I was forgetting to down shift to first when I stopped. A habit I had to learn. It's instinctive when I drive a manual transmission but it didn't transfer over to riding
I get my bobber 60 in 2 weeks. Live in San Diego. Second bike, looking forward to it. Ps...I believe when you pull the clutch in, that's why it won't tell you the gear. It's not a traditional gear indicator...its based off speed and rpm so sitting still, clutch in it won't register. If you ease clutch out just a tad, it should. But if you're stopped, just down shift till you know you are in first. We should ride sometime.

If you can't downshift to first when you pull up, start letting the clutch out slightly and then you might hear a clunk, then you can likely get down to first gear. I'm not an expert but that's what seems to happen on my little 125 cc
@RickyBobber
2 жыл бұрын

HI. It's hard to give a yes or no. It depends on you and what type of riding you'll be doing. So far it's been a great beginner bike for me for my my needs. As can be for others. I realize this was posted almost a year ago now and I’m sure you’re much more experienced as a rider at this point, but man, for anyone else reading this. On a first day ride you absolute do not need to be filming a video. Focus on the ride and everything around you. I wouldn’t even be on the road until I could figure out what gear I was in (you shouldn’t need an indicator for this either). Go practice in a parking lot until you have better control. Talking may not seem like it takes away much, but when you’re day one, take all the focus you can get. This was completely idiotic, you got to crawl before you can walk. Anyways, ride safe my man, hope you are enjoying the bike.

I’am hoping to get one this year. I’am riding a scooter right now. That’s all I was able to get when I moved to Florida, from California. I’ve been here now, almost five years this 4th of July. I’am getting a nice pay increase at work, so hopefully that will help. Finished paying off my wife’s car, it’s now my freakin turn 😂 j/k. Good question. I think a beginner can handle it depending on the riders responsibility. If you know yourself to be the type of person that doesn't show off or horse around I'd say definitely. It's kind of like a loaded gun you can't mess around and you gotta know what's right and what you shouldn't be doing. I hope that makes sense
@RickyBobber
3 жыл бұрын
Also to add to that for a beginner this bike is very docile on the low end in the lower RPMs its like all 100 horses are just out for a gentle stroll. Especially nice for city riding.. But just know if you dig your spurs in, it can get out of control. This is why I think its perfect to grow into. Once your moves and reactions are second nature, I think it will be great even years down the road. This has no problem passing a vehicle going too slow on the highway and has the power to make an escape should you ever fear being pinned up or closed in.

Get something that won't break your heart (or wallet) if you drop it for your first bike. One thing from all my friends, is they have had way more bikes than they've had cars, and sometimes several at once, for different purposes. In NZ, we are also limited to Learner Approved Motorcycles (LAMs) which is any bike up to 250cc, and some approved 650s. Its a power/weight thing. I bought myself a used Hyosung GV250 Aquila, because its cheap. Will keep it to get through my learners and restricted periods before upgrading (1 year minimum assuming I take the tests as soon as I am allowed and pass them first time)
im planning to buy my first bike. i was wondering did you neoginate on the price?

Dealers rarely come down on a bike because they're not making a big profit anyway. Negotiate for free things, like service, or accessories. Bikes are priced pretty firm.

Dealerships aren’t discounting bikes really, especially not now since inventory is at all time lows.
Seriously considering doing this too. A few months later how is your riding?

MUCH better. Muscle memory on where everything helps. Haven't stalled in a while either 😆 the whole thing with not showing the gears doesn't happen anymore. I was forgetting to downshift before I stop and was trying to go from 4th to 1st when I take off.

We don't have to but most do. We have the MSF course here. If I remember correctly it's 8 hours of book study and 8 on a bike. I learned on a 129cc Honda Grom. Hey by the way thank you for being my 500th subscriber 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I appreciate the sub.

So if you come to a stop before down shifting back to 1st it will not let you go down anymore. It's a habit I'm developing to be in first by the time I stop. Not sure if that's on every bike but I definitely don't recall that being part of my rider course. Things have improved since this video. Thanks man

Hey dude - new sub! I’m thinking to purchase the scout Rogue this week, they have one in stock. However it’s my first ever bike. Would you recommend it as a new user considering you were in the same position!?
@RickyBobber
Жыл бұрын
It has done well for me as a first bike. But because this has a lot of power and speed I wouldn't recommend it to my younger, stupid self😆 the urge to take it to thr limit is hard to resist. So if you ate able to control the urge, then yes I'd say it's a great first bike. It's been a year and a half and I still love it. I grew into it which is another reason why I'd recommend it. Some people start with rebels or shadows at 250cc even Harley 883s and want to upgrade as soon as they get some experience. The way that the scout delivers its power is another reason. It's a very gradual Increase in power in the mid range. Not something that will take off from underneath you. It's perfect in my opinion. I really should do a video on this 🤔 😆
