This concept is brilliant. I would record an entire series of picking up non-violent guys after their bid. Interviewing, helping, and compensating them for their story on the drive home. Didn’t need to see him shopping or learning the new checkout tech, but an overwhelming net positive. Done real and raw, this could be big.

It was such a last minute decision to do. With better audio and a little structure, could be really big

Like one of my favourite actors.Denzel Washington said: "Progress, not perfection!". I was totally sucked in from the first second of this episode, till Oskars final words at the end there. Amazing work Sonny! I discovered early on that you had this natural gift in asking the right questions in regards to artists or bands that you interviewed, questions i didnt see alot of professional interviewers ask in theyr shows or whatever, questions that even the artists themselfs brought up as a pleasant surprise. (One of them being Vicky Psarakis, that has been interviewed ALOT,highlighted yours as one of her favourite ones) And i see you brought this forward into The Choice Effect! I got faith in Oscar,he reminds me of a teenage friend of mine, such a sweet and kind person when i sat right next to him talking, but had this reputation of being "a worthless criminal" when he was with his gang,or they forced him to do stuff. He was seen as a notorious thief, one that you should not let walk through any store,as it was guaranteed he would steal stuff. I sat down with him many times, and listened to him talk, where he discovered that we both loved lake, river fishing. And he would go on about his dream, living in a place like where i lived, where he would have access to the sea, lakes and rivers alot more then he had. He even started dreaming about me and him fishing together, because his mind was at peace when fishing, there was no gang,no drugs,no alcohol,no pressure, nothing. I remember he moved me deeply when saying all this. It turned out the issue with the grown ups that was meant to be there as his mentors, tried to do everything by .....sad to say, violence and force. (I told mom when i got back home from this place everything i had withnessed, and she called theyr CEO,and she informed him about this, filed a complaint. And just a short time afterwards she was informed through the system that major changes had been done ,alot of people had been fired and new ones had been hired. I felt really proud when i heard that..... A 14 year old going onto 15 in a few months, brought justice to that facility and i possibly prevented ALOT of troubled youths to be mistreated in the years to come. My friend was pretty short,he got pressured from his gang into becoming a drug addict,it all started as a "friendly offering to make you feel better",then the old standard "since you have been high on the merchandice you need to pay up by doing theese things for us,to get even". When i talked to him,he was done with the gang,he just wanted out. But the problem is that they would stalk him down pretty much at every adress they knew he had family, friends, and they would boldly demand for them to bring him out to them, until they would accept. (They got threatened from calling the cops etc) Only main difference between Oscar and my friend, was that mine was a "white boy". But i swear, the style in clothing, the thoughts, even the mannerisms are scarily accurate,so it had me thinking back on my friend. We promised to stay in contact, but ever since my first postcards and letters,he never replied back,so i fear the worst. When our roads went separate ways,he was to join a foster family on a secret adress,to be safe from this gang, and start over. The only reason why he accepted, was that he saw me in the doorway to his room at 6 AM in the morning! He knew that i hated to stand up that early,so he didnt think i would come through. So the look on his face when i knocked on the door, and he first thought it was one of the douches and replied all negative and grumpy, but then i had to mess with him and he recognized my voice. His face gloomed up in pure joy and excitement, over the fact that i had gotten up that early, just for him. Against all odds,he himself was up in record time, and pretty much like this ride with Oscar,i was by his side all the way to meet what would be his future home and foster family, until things got sorted with the gang and everything. I even got to handshake and talk to his future foster dad. Theese days, after soo many years of absolute silence and no way of getting in contact with him,i fear that this gang caught up to him and..... well,i know what consequences theese type of gangs has. So i fear the worst. But i hope and pray that he is okay at least. We lost contact, but i carry him with me everyday, like Oscar still carries with him the people that helped him on the inside. Im glad that Oscar seems like he is mentally on the right path,he already has a starting job awaiting,he already wants to be involved like you,to make that difference. if you ask me,Oscar is long over halfway already! Who would think that anything non-Floor or music related, would have me writing another essay?! 😏You got this,Oscar!
