@@alca_pwn_2232 US soldier here, was over in Greece for a while. The Greek Army is essentially a part time job for its soldiers. I think you do have a small group of volunteer units such as their Special Forces units, but for the most part, they do physical training in the morning, eat breakfast, go to morning formation, and then they do their job until about noon. There's also rotations of guards who switch off at noon. Once they switch out at noon, the first rotation of soldiers heads out and does their civilian job and the second batch comes in, trains, works, etc, pulls guard duty and thats generally how things work. That being said, the superiors seem pretty strict and theres absolutely no way you'd talk to them casually.

Believe it or not, this is similar to my first day in the army. Showed up to my unit, met my Squad Leader, got smoked for not knowing shit, was sat down and told the expectations and standards, then apologized to as they immediately stuck me on gate guard for 2 weeks. When it ended, I was smoked again for not recognizing my squad leader.

That happened to me too. I was praised for being a good unit. Then immediatly I lied to My commander ,I didnt recognize him. Tought It was just another Officer. So I went to the store bought candy returned. And The freaking commander of the whole zone along with My Platoon leader and My sargeant were waiting for me. Spent 6 hours of exercise. Cleaning duty and Guard duty the next 5 months

They even give so many chances for the enemy to surrender even when their friends are all dead around them. People say the Empire is cruel, all we really see is mercy.

This guy's stood guard duty before. There's no way he hasn't. Because this is too realistic.

They should make this into a Mini-Series, sort of like 'Star Trek: Lower Decks' with troopers.

the other troopers discontent and death glares were so dang good. the fact that you could make him express so much emotion through a faceless helmet really shows how good you are with characters and writing/developing them without any given backstory, sad past, or character developement prior that sir is not only amazing writing but amazing animation, lighting, angling and hard work put in for such a short film

The poor clone trooper... at least physically 60 years old by now has to deal with a fresh behind his ears 19 years old that behaves like 12... every veteran can relate. And the big reveal what they are actually guarding does so fit into military life as well. i mean how often do you guard some corridor or room you totally have no clue why? All the time!

@@Kobalt_Rax_the_one no, the voice is used in many fanworks for clones. on top of that the veteran states, that he served for 20 years. so he was already a trooper back in the last year of CW and that means he is 100% a clone. even if it is later than 19 imperial calendar, clones were produced 7 years after the reform of the republic into the empire. then the Kamino uprising happened and the emperor decided to open the stormtroopers for recruitment and cloning with other templates than Fetts (for example the Lekkauf Clones). Truth been told, thats nowadays Legends Canon and not Disney Canon, but for me only Legends Canon exists ^^

Oh we need more of this. These guys would make a great comedy duo in other settings. Unreal 5 looks cool, but the voice usage here is what nails it.

I mean Unreal is what they use for Mando and BoBF, they just incorporate it into a set with live actors with a very cool system they design. It's not surprising this looks this damn good but that definitely doesn't mean it doesn't deserve the praise. This is really solid

The Company was called to an unscheduled formation for some reason ( we never found out), and whoever came to warn us about it didn't check to see if we were awake, so we didn't show. That caused some inconvenience and back and forth counting. We were eventually found, cozy and warm in our sleeping bag by an NCO who literally tore our tent down. Things calmed down a bit after it was discovered we'd just rotated out of duty but we were still punished for the sake of thoroughness.

This video reminds me of that one scene I really loved from The Force Awakens, when Kylo Ren had a temper tantrum and went ham on a console, two stormtroopers start walking by outside, hear the ruckus, one stops the other and they turn around and walk away. I found it funny and relatable since I would have done the same thing. I like those "slice of life" moments in tv and movies.

He's probably done that in the past... that's why he's back guarding latrines when he'd normally be a senior master sargeant.

This feels so much like a real-world veteran soldier with a fresh-from-boot-camp soldier. He stayed calm and understanding at first, then when he finally broke he laid it out for the kid.

i like how you can see how he isnt properly holding the blaster. overall this is very impressive

Without taking the video too seriously, those scenes where the mindful guard slowly turns his head to the excited newbie were pure comedy. Made me laugh so hard.

Entertaining ✔️ Audio ✔️ Dialogue ✔️ Transitions ✔️ This was fantastic and kept an authentic Star Wars vibe!

I just ran across this while Tube surfing! OMG! Kudos to the entire cast and crew for the look and feel of everything. I’ve always wondered what Stormtroopers talked about when not taking poorly aimed shots, invading peaceful villages, or dying before they can even get out the hatch! Five stars to the writers!

Another commenter said they'd love to see a series with these guys and others, I'd agree. Of course, directed by the people responsible for this short. This was funny and fantastic.

Remember guys, if Disney takes this down it's canon

Brilliant writing there Peter Haynes and excellent work by the team. Loved every minute of it.

Lighting under the armpits at 3:08 and finger shading at 3:39 were the only few spots I was pulled out of the immersion. Wonderfully done.

Storm troopers in the spotlight?? Naah, they'd get forced choked on the 1st screw up or sabered by some jedi scum. Hehe. Boring yet safe assignment given those armors are useless. If they rocked Mandalorian armor though, then I'd say he'll yeah to front line action.

I love the POV of the little guys in the star wars galaxy. I find it alot more interesting than magic space wizards and big death balls in space

Hey, we got those two Speederbike Troopers at the end of season 1 of The Mandalorian & this so much reminded me of those two, this was just as good & funny. Storm Troopers ARE humans, too, you know. And I love it when we get to see it.

Thank you so much for making this. It really brightened my day. When I saw UE5, for the first time, I imagined making short movies like this one. The potential is unlimited for people to start bringing their ideas to life. It's really cool to see people already taking advantage of the engine, in such a lighthearted, but beautiful way.

Man I couldn’t finish this. The attitude and demeanor of a new guy is perfectly captured here, and I got too many flashbacks of myself trying to tighten up a new check-in who doesn’t seem to take anything seriously. Well done.

At 4:12-4:13 you can see the troopers blaster merging/passing thru his body armor. Other than that, pretty impressive game engine.

Haha great, showed genuine creativity. The "Kyber crystal" comment, the little motivational meditation-like speech loaded onto his tracks - especially with the "These are the droids you're looking for" nod... Was just great! Hey, maybe Disney should have put this man in charge of episode VIII instead of some weirdo named Jian Ronhson who doesn't even seem to be particularly fond of the Star Wars-universe...

Well, you certainly expressed the whole problem with Disney (and most of Hollywood). Creativity? Passion? Those traits have long gone, but are essential for good movies. Disney doesn't give a shit about making good movies, they only want to make money. Sadly it seems to work, because the majority of their shit is really bad these days, but still generates billions. So often have we had the situation of some fans doing far better stuff than the owners of a franchise, but rarely ever does it get acknowledged. Star Wars could even become a better IP than in the old days, if you let some dedicated fans work on it - I consider myself one of them. Because fans know what fans want, and I am sure it would generate a lot better content for non-fans as well.

There are really on THREE episodes. The first was called "Star Wars" (none of this "A New Hope" bs) released in 1977, followed by "The Empire Strikes Back" released in 1980 & "Return of the Jedi" in 1983. Then there is the vast blackness of space until a little supernova called "The Mandalorian" with a blip of light called "Rogue One" in between. Anything beyond that is just revisionist crap.
