FIRST COOK ON THE SMOKE PLATE - PRODUCT TEST | BBQ iT

#smokeplate #webergrills #weberkettle
It's time to test the not-so-well-known SMOKE PLATE! This thing is robust! I decided to do a St.Louis style comp rib while testing the Smoke Plate out. I figured I'd hit the middle mark for a cook, like 3-4hrs instead of a long 8-12 hr cook. I'm not paid to review it, I just review things that I buy or people send me. This product was sent to me last year, and I was dying to get it into the rotation. I'll be doing more cooks with it in the future here on BBQ iT, so tune back or subscribe and ring the bell today!!! Thanks for watching!

Hey Craig, Nice video as always. Delicious looking ribs. To the product ... good idea, but I would never buy a product which lets the charcoal touch the kettle. I've seen so much heat cracks in the enamel with Weber kettle in the last years ... I would never touch the charcoal the kettle directly. When it comes to smoking on the kettle I still go with the Slow-N-Sear 2.0. There is nothing to improve - It works. Have fun !
Its 8.30 am in the morning here in Australia, and now im hungry. Thanks for the excellent videos. 👍

Just found your channel last week and subscribed right away. I subscribe to all the BBQ channels and I think your's has a bright future. I really appreciate your attitude regarding the situation we're in currently. Why not make the best of what it is. I've been looking at the positives myself. Cooking, trying new techniques for smoking, learning programming languages, etc. Keep up the good work.
Congrats on the 15k! Ribs looked great.

That's a pretty cool product! I like it's simplicity.
New subscriber here, great video. I first watched the lump charcoal competitions (hope to see the last two soon) I have the slow & sear and can never get it to work right, I may look for a smoke plate. BTW, those ribs look great. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos.
Followed over from WKC (liquidocelot) the success isn't a fluke, you have it all. Short and sweet intro, personality, beautiful editing, technical explanations that anyone can understand. And the best subject matter lol congrats on 15k

Will the smoke plate fit all Weber 22" grills or just the Premium grill? I own the less expensive original 22" grill.

Awesome product and great channel! Have you tried the Master touch premium with the diffuser plate & charcoal grate? Wondering if it's any better than this smoke plate. Would prefer a Performer (handy table) but is the master touch premium better smoking? Love to hear your thoughts. Take care & keep the vids coming!
Wicked Pissah Videos Kid!! Seriously, I really enjoy watching your vidoes. First one I ever saw was you comparing brands of lump hardwood chunk charcoal. Each and every video of your burns makes me hungry. Would love to have you over to my back yard and do some burning together.
Great vid, as always! Do you have any concerns about banking the coals on the inside wall of your Lime?

Awesome ribs Craig!! You need to go ahead and give the SnS a try. Really like mine and it’s a pretty stable cook with a long burn time without much adjusting. I pretty much know how mine is gonna burn every time with my vent markings. Thanks for the great vids buddy!!

I noticed that you have the top vent to the side of the charcoal instead of across. Does that affects smokiness of the food? People always say to have the vents across the charcoal so the the smoke can "flow" across the food.
love the channel im a new sub but the exhaust vent on webers always have to opposite the coals for better cook times and better heat BTU's for the meat.
Two questions- I’ve never used any gadget where the charcoal grate came out. That seems like kind of a pain, was it? And if I already own a SnS, do you think this thing is giving you extra capability it doesn’t have?
@BBQiT
4 жыл бұрын
It's not a pain, bbq is always a fun process for me... I just haven't tested the SnS yet, still in the box. So, I'll get to it. I don't know about an advantage just yet, but we'll see! And thanks for subscribing if ya did!! Ring da bell!!

Nice video, you really do a good job and the cooking. The product works, but I don't like banking the coals - it is hard on the porcelain. The SNS prevents that. Other than that, the cooking is probably pretty similar between the two devices. Maybe we'll find out with the upcoming video.

The PBC is very easy to learn. I actually have never owned a SM. I think they’re very close. Although Weber makes a 22 SM, and the PBC only about 18”

it would make more sense to drop the wood under the metal so the embers would fall down on the wood and ignite it
Good video but 99 dollars? Cost as much as the grill lol
I’d wonder if hanging a piece of foil down the middle of the grill to act as a buffer would produce similar results? It’d be a poor mans smoke plate.
