Looking at those ribs and hearing your comment of the lack of bark. Those ribs are just fine as juicy as they are because I would have glazed a BBQ sauce on them. I'm not much of a bark man on ribs. Other types of meats are good for bark but ribs I LOVE them sauced up 🙂

Good looking beef ribs. You will get it dialed in but that’s what makes it fun - learning how that cooker likes to run.

Thank you, this grill seems to be good so far. I think it’s a bit over priced for what it is though. I’m sure after a few more cooks I’ll have it figured out for the most part.

Hey John, that’s too bad you never have any good luck with beef. Beef ribs are my favourite to smoke/cook when I’m feeling ribs for dinner. Keep at them and I’m sure you’ll nail them

Another great video! So far, how do you like the Kettle Joe compared with your Summit Kamado? I'm shopping for a charcoal grill to replace my 30 yr old Weber kettle and am torn between the Summit E6, Kettle Joe, and the PK360.

If given the choice I would go with the Summit E6. I’ll be making a review video and giving my thoughts on the Kettle Joe soon, so keep an eye out for that video in a couple weeks

Surprised from the temps you were reading that they cooked that fast. Must have been a very good cut. Some black pepper and I'm guessing they would've had more bark. I slather with mustard, put a layer of uncle Chris's steak seasoning and a layer of Montreal steak seasoning. Followed by a dusting of coarse black pepper. But i haven't smoked any that were done that fast.

These were a very good cut that had lots of marbling in it. I was surprised by how fast they cooked too. Next time I’ll be going with a 50/50 salt and coarse black pepper.

Did you flip them? Cant remember you doing that, maybe you did... But the bottom had nicer bark like you said so perhaps you should have flipped them once atleast.

You already have a Weber Summit Charcoal, so not sure why the downgrade to the Kettle Joe?

  • @paulsq_

I didn’t downgrade from my Summit Charcoal Grill, I bought the Kettle Joe to see how well it compares to the Weber Kettle. Thanks for the question
