after the burn in I decided to do a 9lb Boston butt to see how the smoker held up for a long cook.

Looks like a nice smoker set-up, my Holland grill was hit by a tree by Hurricane Zeta. I like 190F to 193F.

To be honest, it's a good unit for $200, no complaints. I go 195 to 200 depending on the fat content. For Competition I go 190 to 195, but that's on the Jambo J3 and it's a lot more predictable🤣😂🤣....sorry to hear about your Holland that SUCKS!!!

The Dyna Glo Widebody has a learning curve, but with a little attention you can get great results....this Pork Butt came out moist and juicy but not mushy. Cooked for 9 hours @250 to 275 to an internal temp of 200 degrees F.

Cool, other than dealing the firebox and the upper gaps, I haven't done anything. Have had good results with pork, chicken, and beef ribs. Gotta watch your vid.....thank you for the heads up👍🏼🇺🇸

It's doing great, I keep it in my garage and it's as good as the day I put it together. I did develop a gap between the fire box and the cook chamber, a squeeze of rtv sealed it right up. Check out my brisket video or rib video, both were made in the Dyna in the past couple months, both Competition Quality cooks. Take care of the smoker and it will treat you right. I have done probably 30 cooks in mine and it's great.

I’m thinking of getting one of these bad boys but am curious as to the smoke loss from there not being a gasket around fire box and main compartment. Did you notice much leaking of the smoke?

  • @2AChef-n-BBQ

I used high heat rtv around the firebox to cook chamber Join, no leaking from the firebox, I did get a little on the upper left corner of the big door, but very little, not enough to make a difference. It cooked well, as long as you keep on the fuel, it dies a great job. The firebox side cooks hotter than the left side.

@@2AChef-n-BBQ Hello - do you mean that you applied the rtv on the firebox before joining and screwing, instead of caulking a bead around the joint after assembly? I don't see any smoke leakage in your video so whichever you did seems to be working well!

  • @2AChef-n-BBQ

Yes, the firebox has 2 oval fittings the mate with the cook chamber before bolting together. I laid a large bead around both of these ovals and a beast around the inner edge. It did a great job sealing and even with heat flex on the metal when a fire is burning, it stays sealed well. I experienced a couple small leaks on the hinge side of the door at the top corner, but it is so minimal that it doesn't effect anything. I have a brisket cook, a pork butt, and rib cooks that demonstrate the quality of cooks you can get with these smokers. I use mine a lot and it does great. I also have a 72" offset I use at Competitions and can get very similar quality of cooks on the Dyna Glo. It makes cooking at home a lot easier than firing up the big smoker for a single piece of meat.

@@2AChef-n-BBQ Awesome thank you so much! I have the smaller version, just got it put together and was struggling with having to lay down such a think red caulk bead on the outside, since there is a decent sized gap there. I'll take it back apart and do this instead - in your video you can see that gap but no smoke coming out so you have it nailed. My only issue before I season and start learning is that when I close the cooker door the right side is up about 1/4" so it looks out of square but everything else looks ready to go. I am doubling up each rack since they feel too flimsy to hold up something like a boston butt and also clipped one of the racks to make a tuning plate. Thank you again for your help!

@@johnpryes4360 on my widebody, I put 2 8-9 lb butts on each rack. I cook 6 butts at once in the widebody. The racks are stronger than they look..... lol
