Played through Alien Isolation 3 times in VR, LOVED IT! One of my favs of all time. They are going to have some really big shoes to fill, hope they can pull it off, I am rooting for them.

I was confused for a moment by what you meant by quest 3 exclusive knowing it is coming to all major platforms so in case anyone else is confused: 4:10 I also understand why they did this because it feels like even though we have plenty of good visual titles for the quest 3, we still haven’t tapped into its full potential.

We really haven't explored the full graphical potential of Quest 3 yet, at most the only games that show everything it has to offer are The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners and Red Matter 2, I'm happy that the alien game is only released for Quest 3 to not need to be limited to quest 2, another game that perhaps shows the full potential of quest 3 is Asgard's Wrath 2 when the high-resolution texture pack is released in May and may come with effects improvements and such.

We need a predator game where you are the predator hunting on different planets.

I think there should be some games that aren’t compatible with quest 2. I’d like to move forward so that the baseline of vr is better, so that all vr platforms can benefit and not be quite as held back. That would be geared toward the cross platform/multi platform games of course.

@@muskerpin some ways better, PC VR will always be more powerful. It will still be great I’m sure on Q3, especially if they are dedicated to supporting only one standalone headset. The resolution will be worse on Q2, but not by much. You’d still have the better experience if your rig is up to snuff.

Considering the tack record of Survios the last five years, I'm not exactly holding my breath. I DO like the direction they're claiming to be heading though with it being more horror than action, like Aliens is *supposed* to be. Also it will be cool to see what the Unreal 5 engine can do on a mobile hmd. I know certain games have announced they're using it, but I don't recall ever seeing one in action. Also: Bring on ALL the Quest 3 exclusives! We didn't buy the thing to play Quest 2 games, we bought it to play Quest 3 games.

Presumably, if they are making the game for Steam and PSVR, then getting it to run on Quest 3 would require a lot less tinkering than getting it working well on lower powered headsets as well. It may just be a budget thing. As a Q3 owner, I'm happy to see devs using that extra power. Hopefully there won't be too many Q2 owners that are put out by the decision. It was inevitable at some point though I think; It's also necessary for progress in the stand alone headset space.

I have a question, since I am not a tech geek. It says it's coming for Steam. Does that mean I can play it with my Quest 2 via Air-Link? I am a bit mad. I bought the Quest 2 "mostly" because they said Resident Evil 4 VR will be exclusively for Quest 2. Just a short time after I bought the Quest 2, RE4 VR was playable via Quest 1 and soon after that the Quest 3 was released. If I had known this, I would have skipped the Q2 and bought the Q3 instead. Any news when the Quest 4 will be released? Maybe I will skip Quest 3. :D

I think you're overegging the pudding here a bit. This is not a Quest 3 exclusive by a long way, and I think that's an extremely important part of the equation. This is a game for the PC and PSVR, so it needs a lot of hardware behind it. The guys behind it don't want to miss out on the standalone VR market, but any standalone VR is not going to have anywhere near the processing grunt of a PC or a Playstation, and so the standalone port will have to be cut down. They've then got a choice between: (a) making the PC and PSVR versions weaker to make it easier to optimise away bottlenecks; (b) making the standalone version recognisably inferior to the desktop version; or (c) raising the minimum hardware requirements for the standalone version. I find it very difficult to imagine anyone making a true Quest 3 exclusive -- anything that won't run on a Quest 2 is likely to be similarly available on PCVR and/or PSVR, just like this... otherwise they're going to need to keep it open to the sizeable installed Quest 2 user base.

Based on the release date, this is gonna be a console seller for Christmas. I bet theyll come out woth a lesser version for quest 2 later, orrrr itl work on quest 2 but not be officially supported (wasnt RE4 that way?)

For single player vr games that are available on PC side everyone is buying them on Steam instead and then streaming to Quest 2/3 because you get better graphics…meta dropped pc side ages ago but if crossbuy becomes more regular then it would make sense to play it from oculus store on pc side and won’t be necessary to buy on steam. So meta really need to push crossbuy with more developers if they want to compete with steam and get a bigger piece of the pie. This would also be better for gamers too.

Its on the unreal engine. Wonder what the difference will be on pc. Edit, side load from pc too quest 2.

Buying

Is it going to be an 'experience' that can be beat in a night or will it be a full game like HL: Alyx? I don't like paying full price for a VR game, I wait for steam sales, and Meta has really crappy sales. Most 'AAA games' on the meta store aren't really games that are long enough to justify the price that is around a AAA game price. I want to get it on day one but I've been burned on VR games too many times.

honestly if they just recreated the OG avp2 on the quest it would be better than all of the other games on it, especially if it was multiplayer

Could have been worded a little better but I think he means it's not compatible with Quest 2 or Pro. AW2 can be installed on all Quests (except Q1).

I wonder if meta had a requirement to make any games coming out 1 year from the quest 3's release to also be backwards compatible. This would fall just outside the Quest 3 launch.

When I read the article I was kind of nervous. If I had to basically buy the quest 3 just to play this game, that's total bull. I am happy Steam vr is getting it, so all I have to do is use my usb c cord to my quest 2 and launch steam vr.

Actually im kinda surprised its taken this long for a Quest 3 exclusive. After all it gonna be 12months by the time this title is released since the Quest 3 came out. Imagine, if you will that the PS5 only ran Playstation 4 titles for its first year.🤔 I know its not quite the same but its kinda along those line.

I. doubt it. It looks like they will take full advantage of the new hardware in the Snapdragon XR Gen 2. After reading about the chip I realise I should have saved up for the Quest 3 as the chip is at least a generation ahead. It should have been named XR3 because it is a huge upgrade with every part being a whole generation ahead of XR2 gen 1. Plus the Hexagon DSP. This thing is really a beast.

Yes, miles better! Even games like walkabout mini golf look miles better on a quest 3 via virtual desktop than quest 3 native. Same with the walking dead and alien will be the same too.

@@ivana6141 I plan on it for now. Unfortunately the wifey has problems with any kind of 3d. Any kind of gaming even just pc or console makes her nauseous. Probably when my grandson gets a bit older I can give it to him and we can play together. His father isn’t into gaming at all.

I remember back when, Sea of Thieves & that other Microsoft exclusive showed up on PS library/store. Guessing not enough xbox players aren't buying enough = just like PC

I wonder if the Quest 3 Lite will actually end up just being that Xbox headset, to be sold with an Xbox controller only and subscription to the Xbox cloud gaming. Basically a device to play pancake Xbox games from anywhere, but no actual VR capability. Might not even be 6dof. Just a guess though. Might be totally wrong.

A game like this can only be fully appreciated on PCVR or the PSVR2, Quest 3 just hasn't got the guts to run it on stand alone.

I bet it's Quest 3 exclusive partly because the Quest 2 can't do all the dynamic lighting that they wanted to do in this game. Without the flashlight nad flamethrower-lit halls, the atmosphere of an Aliens game is kinda lost.

I love the Alien franchise but this is going to be too scary. I don't do well with horror VR games.

man at first I was a little bit annoyed that its Quest 3 only because I don't have one then I realized I DON'T TAKE VR HORROR VERY WELL the jumpscare with Ghost in iron man got me good so I doubt I can take ALIEN

For the people saying this guy doesn’t know what exclusive means use your brain. It is exclusive to the Quest 3 in the Quest ecosystem. This is something people complained about ever since the release of the quest three that there was no exclusives for the quest three. Now we have a game that takes advantage of the quest three and we don’t have to worry about that weak ass quest 2holding it back.

the quest 2 is outdated. we need to focus on the current gen and make that the best we can rather than waste its talent. the quest 2 is cheaper so therefore it doesn’t get the same features and options. we can just hold vr back to save kids a little bit of money, we have adults who really want to take advantage of the quest 3 that we paid for

You don't understand technology at all. That's okay so I'll explain why you're incorrect: Quest 3 is TWICE as powerful as the quest 2. This is going to me the first game that is made to actually take advantage of that power instead of limiting it to quest 2 capabilities. The future needs to move forward. There's a reason games are coming out for the Playstation 3 anymore.

I have a feeling that dynamic lighting is going to play an important part in this game, something that the Q2 would likely struggle with. You could argue that they could just remove it altogether but that would be a major hit to overall atmosphere, immersion and gameplay style. Look at the comparison between the Q2 and Q3 version of Red Matter 2. As well as dynamic lighting, there's a considerable boost in resolution and texture quality.

Should have just been an Alien Isolation port.. I bet this game is gonna be more like colonial marines :/
