Alireza hasn't played well against the best in a while. He's being exposed by the best players. So his results aren't that much of a surprise. Just look at how he got in. He's only there from results that happened quite a while ago. Do you want to know why he doesn't play that much chess. Because he would've lost even more rating. That's why he resorted to such dirty tactics to qualify for the candidates. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make the next t candidates because the competition is stronger and younger, and they play 5x the tournament chess Alireza plays lately.
