Firewire Helium Dominator 2.0 Surfboard Review

Ian reviews the Firewire Helium Dominator 2.0 Surfboard: www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/fi...
The Firewire Dominator 2.0 surfboard in the new Helium technology is going to revitalize what is still one of the most versatile hybrids available, take it from us its a beaut. Its got a new look which is super clean and on point, a great blend of tech and cool. Ian was lucky enough to surf this board at Slaters surf ranch back in March and he loved it, he ordered one straight away and even offered to pay for it there and then (thats a first!).
The Original Dominator was super popular and the new 2.0 version has made a great board even better, keeping its key characteristics and adding more performance. If you are looking for a one board quiver to handle thigh to a bit overhead waves, and can cope with a bit of onshore wind and chop then this might well be the board for you. It is still forgiving to surf but once you get your back foot over the fins it gives you the responsive surf you would expect to find in a more perfromancy shortboards.
The Dominator 2.0 is an update of the original with design features that allow it to work well in a wider range of conditions and enhance its performance. The obvious outline change is the tail going to a squash from the round tail. Also, the rails are slightly more refined and performance oriented. The concave is the same under the front foot but splits into a subtle double-barrelled concave with V out the tail in the last to improve release. The squash tail is there to provide a bit more release in the turns, normally you'd lose some of the stability of the thicker round tail on the previous version but so far that doesn't seem to be the case, it still feels rock solid under foot.
Firewire's Helium tech is all about making an already amazing set of construction options even better. Its lighter, seems strong, no signs of any pressure marks at all, and very fast. High Density Aerospace Composite Deck Skins and a new Paulownia/Balsa mix on the rails gives a faster flex response. Having surfed the tech in a couple of different models it does feel light but the speed through a stiffer feel and responsiveness is exceptional, Helium is here to stay.
The Firewire Dominator is still the most adaptable board in the Firewire range, a real crowd pleaser, everyone should have one in their quiver!
Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Firewire surfboards across Europe and beyond, we've been with them since the very start. Firewire surfboards are more durable than other surfboard manufacturing processes, and for 90% of surfers they will improve your surfing. Firewire is pushing the limits of applying new technology and innovation to surfboard design and always has an eye on the environmental impact of what they do, they truly are different to the other board companies out there. Firewire have come a long way since the early boards and the range of shapes and tech just gets better and better. A big chunk of the boards in the range are perfectly suited to the waves that 90% of us surf on a regular basis so if you haven't already give them a try. The staff here have surfed pretty much every board in the Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards.
We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to info@boardshop.co.uk or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250. And don't forget we offer interest free finance on all new premium surfboards

Great review! Got mine last week. Rode in weak 1-2 ft beach break. It’s amazing. Grovels so good. It’s likely a one board quiver.

Beautiful board.. As a one board quiver which one would you all recommend for an intermediate surfer at 90 kg... The Dominator II or the Hypto Krypto. Both boards seems very similar with maybe the dominator being more performance and the Hypto being more cruisy.. Haven't ridden either but I'm searching for a 1 board quiver since I can't get out very often.
