Your videos helped me pull the trigger on buying a set, they are amazing!

The OEM all-seasons on my Golf GTI gave up after 14k miles and two track days. They were replaced with these Indy 500’s and the car is completely transformed. On the street the grip is astonishing and the steering is hugely improved. On the track, transitions are more predictable and braking is surer and shorter. And it’s not like I am looking through rose-colored glasses. My wife has a Golf GTI just like mine still on the OEM tires and it’s night and day to drive them back to back. At anything over half-throttle her car is squirming and spinning. My car just pulls away, no drama and no spin. Fantastic for the money.

I would say the same for my Golf R, completely transformed the car. Fantastic tires for the money. Comparable to Michelin Pilot Sports, better than Hankook V12 Evo's or Continental SportContact 5P.

I have an a4 and the car came with brand new pirrelli p zeros all seasons. After 3k miles of normal driving with some spirited the tread was Already starting to crack off. They hated any heat

These are good tires for the price. Upgraded the tires for canyon runs to get more grip. The stock all seasons that came with my car were not great. These hold the road great, and I'm happy with the wear as well.

Love these tires! Great performance for the price. More than capable up and down South Mountain and any other mountains I've driven. While Michelin's are great I'm not racing money or consistently tracking to justify them to the regular guy...Dude is that a Supra?!?

I have a Camaro RS, I have used PZeros since I had the car.. Last week ago, I had a screw in the corner of tire, I had to replace. Local tire shop, tire plus, all they had was Firehawk indy 500. Was $217 for everything.. Tire, mount and balance. I feel that the Indy 500 grips better than PZero

Yup currently got these last week for my st and my Altima SE-R as well. Great driving tire, comfy and performs excellent. Plus the $60 rebate doesn't hurt either.

I just bought four of these for my WRX. I went for a drive in the mountains, and trying to make them break loose or squeal or anyting. They just grabbed and grabbed and wouldn't let go no matter how hard I tried. I need more power or driving ability or both! I love these tires and they only cost a hundred bucks each

I'm on my first set of these tires and I agree with you on every point you made. I live in south Florida where the rain can get very heavy, even though I haven't hydroplaned I feel I need a more aggressive grip. They were times I would go up a ramp with speed bumps and had the rear wheels spin and not go over the hump at low speeds. Its a small gripe but enough to annoy me.

Firestone has come along ways over the years. I wasn't impressed in years past on Firestone tires, they rode very hard, road noise was horrible and traction wasn't great. I've done a lot of reading on these exact tires (Firehawk Indy's) your videos and a few others on KZread, I will say every review I've seen has spoken very highly on these tires. When I drop the $ on some aftermarket wheels (NOT Rims)...lol...I'll definitely be giving these tires a try.

Thanks for the video, just convinced me to buy these for my S2000.

Nice! They will perform well and give your Mustang a more aggressive look because of the tread pattern

I've had these on my '01 MX-5 for over three years now, 205/40/16. In my opinion, price vs performance these are the best tires out there, I use them for autocross and mountain twisties.

I replaced the A/S Pirelli P zeros that came in my '16 EB mustang with the Firehawk Indy 500s. I LOVE them. Way better than the pzeros. I felt more secure driving in the rain, traction improved, and, for a summer tire, its doing fine in terms of tread. I replaced my pirellis at 36k miles, I now have 70k in my car, so a total of 34k with the Indys so far and just now will be needing replacement in the next 3k- 4k miles. I drive spiritedly, not aggressively. Rotate tires every 4k-5k miles.

You should look into getting 245 on the next tire purchase. The wider tire helps to make up for the lip that the factory tires came with and the wider tire just look really good on the car. Keep up the great videos!

I have been debating on getting theses... the Perelli tires that came on mine factory get great all around grip in different temps climates, but when I’m doing some hard cornering it just slides

Thanks for posting a review of the Firehawk from my old hometown in Arizona. Just a few notes for future tire reviews: The "tire lip" you discussed that is not on this tire that protects the rim in the Tire Industry is called a "Rim Protector." You will find it on the Mich Pilot and BF Goodrich Comp lines. It would would be great in reviews if you indicated where the tire is manufactured? (It's on the tire.) Current production is Thailand for this tire--The country of manufacture determines the quality and refinements. Thailand is a good tire maker, but not as great as the quality that comes out of US factories or German factories. Last, it would have been great to know how what the date stamp (age) of the tires are that Tire Rack shipped you when you received them. Tire rubber starts to deteriorate each day after manufacture and you want ones within 6 months off the assembly line and you want to see that TireRack ships 4 tires with the same exact date code that is also on the tire. I ask for tires that are within 2 month off the line if made in the USA. From other countries 6 months is reasonable. Tires delivered that are more a year old should be returned.

I just got some of these firestone Indy 500 for my cobalt ss paid 100 for 3 put two of them on the rear going nitto nto5 for the fronts for traction

Was on the fence to purchase these for my Lexus IS bc of the lack of reviews, but gonna go ahead with the purchase now, great video!

Hell yeah for the escape content! 😂 I know it sounds stupid. But it’s a cheaper SUV that I think a ton of people shop for. My work has two and they feel way more expensive than they are. Wife’s looking to buy one so any content you wanna make on them I’ll watch! (If not just make 1,000,000 Supra videos and I will watch every second of them. 😂)

I just got these last night for my 18 Q50S. And holy shit are they better than the stock DunFlops SportMinimum RunShits. I don’t spin through first gear anymore, and my 0-60 is much faster because of the grip. I also am in Phoenix.

I have a 16 gti that makes around 350hp and 400tq how do you think these would hold up with digs in my car? Boost comes on pretty early, and peak torque isnt too soon after. I have potenza re980as which are amazing All seasons, but just looking for something with more grip for digs

Hi Just wonder if you got the left and right two kind, or if this tire only have one kind. And one side will rotate reversed from another side, cause the thread pattern is not symmetrical in direction

Thanks for the review. I think these are my next tire, but in 245 or 255. Currently have BFG Comp 2 AS, useless in weather, not very grippy in dry, and nearing their end at ~18k miles. Only plus is the beeeef sidewall they have.

You mentioned about the lip around the rim, but I noticed in your close-up that the sidewall is a little bit stretched. If you want a uniform sidewall to rim match you'd need to put a wider size tire.

Yeah I went with 1 size up from my normal width and that lip sticks out nicely.

interesting....might depend on commute and hours put on them daily...I put about 30k on these and had to replace. They are great tire though.....try comp2's though.

Are these directional tires?

I both a set of firehawk indy 500 for my 8th gen Si last year and they we're great but now I'm looking forward to get some for my elantra n since i sold my civic Si would be curious to see how good they are since the elantra n weights more and has a lot more torque

My F1’s are just about garbage and need to replace pretty soon, already towards the end of June and I’m still rocking my snow tires with steelies. Was gonna go with a low milage used set (3k Miles pilot super sports) but I’ll look into these Firestone’s.

If I did say that I didn’t mean to. I got them mounted and balanced at discount tire. They have always done nice work for me

Beware of the transmissions in both of those Fords. We have one of each and the Focus 2013 had the transmission rebuilt and the Escape 2015 had the transmission replaced. If you have bumper to bumper warranty then you are covered.

2015 Chevy SS 55,000 total miles Replaced the stock front tires at 18,000 miles and stock rear tires at 20,000 miles. Stock tires were junk 37,000 miles on the front 35,000 miles on the rear I have them side to side rotated and balanced every 5,000 miles and an alignment every year. Great tires Excellent dry and hot traction Good wet traction Poor cold traction I will buy them again.

I still have the factory tires on my 2017 st they’re dry and in a miserable state right now I can’t get any grip from them especially in the rain so it’s kinda dangerous to drive in the rain im not going to lie . I was afraid to change my tires and regret it later because i got bad tires but now I know what to do . And how long can these tiers last before they start to crack in time not in mileage ? Thanks

These will last longer than those Michelin’s. Ride quality should also be almost identical plus you are going to save a lot of money. I think it’s worth trying

You're probably going to see a difference in comfort considering you would be putting an ultra high performance summer tire onto an SUV which usually has comfort tires. But they will perform amazingly but you will lose a bit of comfort.

No they dont throw a noticeable amount of rocks at all. I wouldn’t consider them sticky

M J If you live in places where there is heavy snow, I suggest you keep a spare set of wheels if you're concerned about getting your current wheels damaged. If not, get a set of all seasons or something. But most people I know that live up in snowy areas always have two sets of wheels. One nice ones for the Spring/Summer & one set for the snow seasons.

Hey guys, I'm sure Firestone / Bridge stone are one and the same. Bridge stone has that same tire and tread pattern on one of their tires for about $20-$40 more. Look for the Bridge stone cheaper non run flat. My son works for Firestone and gave me this to as well... Great Job Gjeebs

I just finished off a set of 500's myself. Go for the Michelins, you won't regret it. The 500's are not a good tire if you like to push your car a bit in the canyons or mountain roads. They give zero feedback, and don't lose grip progressively. The Ps4's ride better, last longer, give amazing feedback and lose grip progressively. You know everything you would expect from a "performance tire". I currently am running Bridgestone RE71R's and love them. so no I'm not some Michelin fandboy.

Michelin’s will perform the best so if ur really wanna shave those tenths of a sec off ya lap time go for them... but in my opinion they not worth it if not seriously tracking/auto cross or getting paid to race. I love my Indy 500s but I also only rip up n down mountains..and I’m perfectly pleased at the Indy 500 performance

@@charlesedwards3577 the ps4's aren't a good track tire. They are leaps and bounds better than the 500's but if your looking to shave off time on your laps ps4's aren't the answer. Ps4's are capable of taking track abuse but they aren't a track tire, maybe your thinking of cup 2's? If you are, those are $300+ a tire, and they aren't comparable to Indy's or ps4's.

Do not run these, or any summer tire for that matter, in temps below 30F. They turn into hockey pucks and have nearly no grip. Any amount of snow? Good luck trying to not spin the tires with any amount of throttle input.

Absolutely love these tyres. I don’t know if you remember me asking you what they were, because they look great and your review sells them. I don’t know if they are available in Europe... Also, yes roll with the Kuga aka Escape. We have a UK spec one. Late response but from my understanding these are a US market tire and the UK version of the same tire is sold as a Bridgestone model. Not sure what the model number is offhand though. i had a set of these on my last GTI. They were awesome. Great grip at a great price.

The ones you mentioned " Firehawks Indy 500s" are way above what any dealer puts on a car, even the very premium for example a Porsche (which is actually a VW) shhh... Yes, but out of premium brands automakers, or Asian ones or even Korean ones, they install what is known a "Corporate type of tire" which is a contracted brand, usually the same tire you can buy but with a less tread wear than you can buy. Yes it is confusing but this is one way the Dealership is able to sort of cheat you out of money. To sell you a name with less wear rating. Check it out on the tire. Anyways, Speaking of the tires, the indy 500 is the number 2 tire in the world, it only lacks five wet point tractions besides double priced Michelin super sport that is at some retailers double the price. I have used the tire for 5 years, Have used it in 400 hp++ car, even worn out it is hard to make these spin . Its an excellent tire , my Buddy that owes a tire shop confirms, he does all my tires. It is a sweet one to get, excellent performance, excellent wear and amazing look.

Are they good in rain ?

How did you get 25k out of them??! I got less than 10k out of them and rotated them 3 times. I found them to be ok on the commute but they absolutely fell off a cliff when pushed hard in the mountains and on the track they were 2 seconds a lap slower than the all seasons that came on the car. If your reading this and thinking this is a budget performance tire, it's not. It's a budget commute tire with above average grip with zero feedback.

I just bought a set of these size 225/45/18 for $555.00, buy three get one free, out the door plus $100.00 reward card back.

Lucky, I’m looking at a set for my 245/35/20 and they’re about 900

If you want longer tread life firehawk as the Indy is for traction

Get a wider tire to protect the rim

When you mentioned the V12 Evos on your Si, it's a little hard to compare the wear of those to the Indy 500 on your ST. Since the 8th gens, all Si's have an LSD, which increases tire wear. You can easily lose 5k miles off of any tire you use compared to other cars. I know the STs have a torque vectoring system on top of the open diff they have but those aren't as aggressive as a full on LSD.

Every time you turn the wheel in a car equipped with an LSD (while moving of course), it'll try to limit the slip between the 2 drive wheels on both sides. Of course, there are many kinds of LSDs out there and some are tuned differently. I think BMWs require more torque to activate them while Honda said fuck it and it activates on the slightest throttle. This was the case for me when I had a 9th gen Si before.

@@Gjeebs obviously, the assumption is that the driving would be the same in this hypothetical test of more powerful versus less powerful car on tire wear. And we can assume weight is somewhat constant. Horsepower and torque for sure affect tire wear. Do you think the tires wear out on a Porsche 911 faster than on a Dodge ram truck because it’s heavier?
