I agree with you, it's best not to live in a worry bubble, but prepare nonetheless. I'd be interested in a video where you list out your suggestions for must-have tools, equipment and macgyver materials to get yourself out of jams in the backcountry. I have my own must-haves, but I'm always interested in what others keep in their rig besides the obvious stuff like a socket set, recovery gear, winch, etc.
"...what ever it is, you just pull up your pants and deal with it..." words of gold - love it!

I'm a new owner of a 2001 Yukon and your videos have helped me plan an approach for making it a part time camper. Thanks.
The other thing about those heaters is that there is no noise from a pump like the diesel heaters

My espar was installed with the pump at the front of the van. It is quiet and has a whisper mode.

The new pumps are actually silent and my eberspacher as a external thermostat for better heat control

I’ve got an espar too, no whisper mode but it’s not too loud. Noise becomes inaudible about 30 feet from the van. We are still always cautious if other people are camping nearby, definitely a con if you are camped up around tents. The exhaust alone is going to ruin someone’s good time!
Thanks Jason, great Q&A. For those who are concerned about breaking down in the wilderness, we use cell service to call for help if we can otherwise we use a Garmin InReach Mini which we can text family or friends for help and also send a SOS to rescue services if we have an emergency. Before we go into overland season we get our truck looked over. Our overland travels can sometimes get rough so before we start the next season (for peace of mind) we have the air filters changed in both engine and interior (lots of dust on those roads), tires checked, checked for loose or rattling parts, and any other general look over. We have a EGO 18” Electric Chainsaw and love it. We chose EGO because they have been the first with cutting edge and innovative technology for electric batteries for power tools. We also have a gas chainsaw but the fuel smell is too much and unless you have a way to store it securely outside like Jason has you really don’t want to store it inside. It’s the reason why we got the electric one. Chainsaws make quick work for firewood but they are awesome for clearing a down tree across the road. A side note about clearing a road, be considerate and clear it completely across the road so that large emergency or fire vehicles don’t waste time in having to enlarge the access.
Love your answer to #6…I deal with it!! Words for life!

Hello you have been selected among my lucky winners DM via the above name on telegram to claim your prize 🌲 🎁.
Fantastic video. Yes, please do more. I've run thru your back catalog of videos, so I really didn't have a question for you. Sorry about that. But, on your chainsaw answers/explanation. I agree with everything you said. But you left off, saw controls. I CAN run a Husky saw. But I can't stand their controls. Specifically where the off switch is. I grew up running Stil saws on the farm. Just what I've gotten comfortable with. My suggestion to anyone new to chainsaws is, go out and try the different brands. Play with the controls. What flows naturally from you, for your usage, on that setup, go with that saw. I hope that makes sense, intuitively. Jason, love your videos, you show off some beautiful locations in OR!!!! Someday, I hope to visit. Right now. I'm laid up with kidney failure, not doing much. Thank you for the entertainment. Your videos really help me deal with not being able to go camping and hiking. Things I miss greatly. I can never thank you enough, a billion times over, still falls short. Stay safe, hope your hunting trip goes well!!! See you in the next video.
Thanks Jason for the video. We made it back home from your trip to Oregon, calf , Wyoming,az ,Montana and back to north Idaho we enjoy your videos get me going on the road thank you very much from Don and Donna from North Idaho
I have a 60V dewalt electric saw that impresses-was my only saw for a while. I spent a few days clearing with it including cutting 50-60 trees in one weekend (all mostly 8 inches or smaller). Couple things I’ve learned: (1) you need $1000 or more worth of batteries to work all day, and (2) power is impressive but nothing like a gas saw. I got a Stihl MS271 after getting worn out trying to cross cut 10-inch cedar, and I’ve since then gotten an MS261. You can run those things hard and all day. If you have 2-3 extra chains you’ll wear out long before the saw does. In short, electric saw is good for short duration
I missed the chat but I'm really happy that the Klamath River will soon running free. Water is life.
Recommend an extra chain AND bar Jason, just in case you pinch and trap the bar while cutting.
Oh my gosh. You just popped my worry bubble! It wastes sooo much space in my brain. I will rewatch #6 until it gets through as I sit in my warm home looking at my lonely truck outside. So well said.
I bought the smaller version of the pop up fire pit, I too live full time in my Van and space is a premium! Simple to set up & tear down.
I really enjoyed the Q&A campfire setting, actually enjoyed it more than any live stream I've ever watched. Great job

Thank you, I love it when you do Fireside Chats w/ Donald & Ed
I completely agree with your opinion on the pop-up fire pit. I bought one a year ago based on your review video and I am highly pleased with it. I think the best thing about it is that you can tuck your boots under it when its really cold and keep your feet toasty warm!
My husband and I really enjoyed this video with you answering questions and would enjoy seeing more like it.
QA is great because it creates interaction and community with your audience.

Thanks for your answer. Makes good sense.
The interaction with your viewers is very much appreciated. You hold a wealth of knowledge born from experience and I definitely enjoy these videos from time to time. Thanks!
It's still so weird to see your videos without Daisy. I'm looking forward to the big announcement.
I have been a long time subscriber. I started watching your channel when you had the pull behind trailer. I happened to be quite sick at the time so I binge watched your camping in snow videos. Your videos kept me distracted while I recuperated.
I had two Stihls, both were later stolen. Bought a Craftsman and hate it. Got a Husqvarna 455 and it rocks! Also bought a Dewalt 20v and I love it too. No gas fumes, quiet, and starts!
Yes I sure would like a Fire side Q&A or just chat maybe quarterly ?? OR every couple of months. Love the vids and Thanks for sharing great content!
Thanks for the chat, you answered pretty much all of my questions in one sitting. Many of your videos give great reviews of camping and general outdoors equipment that I find very useful. Again thanks.
Thanks for the info. Glad that winter camping video popped so well for you.
Love the q&a format video Jason! We’ve been following your journey for years now thanks for the great photography and I’ve actually learned a lot from your videos, keep at it & you’ll be hitting a million subs before you know it. We’re Sorry about Daisy, she was a good girl and had a great life with you ❤
I really enjoyed this Q and A video. Thanks for all the great content over the years. I look forward to seeing where your channel goes next.
Really liked your Q & A. I’ve subbed for awhile but I haven’t watch consistently so this was quite informative. Thanks and love the winter stuff as well. 👍🏼
Great job of answering questions...fun to hear your thoughts on these things
Been watching your videos since the teardrop. I'm not surprised that your winter videos do well. You do a great job of making it all look comfortable, and by extension; inspiring. As a result of your last year's video, we took our 1998 Roadtrek to Manning Provincial Park in January and we were fine. Sorry Edward Shin & LLOD, but one look at snow camping in a RTT and my wife said "Nope". Hence the more comfy but less offroad worthy class B.
You're the man, Jason. Thanks for the content.
Looked like a beautiful evening for a fireside chat! Thanks for taking the time to do it. I bought my Remington 4620 chainsaw from my local “Mart” based on seeing you use yours for so long in your videos. I might only use it once or twice a year, so I didn’t need to pick a side like the Stihl/Husq/Echo guys. The cheapo saw will do fine for around $150. Man, one of these days I need to make it out to a Patreon camp out. Can’t wait to get a bigger rig again someday. Keep up the good work! And have a nice Thanksgiving!
That was great! So many great questions, and terrific replies! No fair teasing about what’s coming up! LMAO! And yes, follow up Q&A sessions would be OK, just not too much.
I always looking forward to these Q&As
Seeing your Draglink is part of why I didnt use the ford OEM one. sofar the BD adjustable has taken some good stress without any issues!! Love your Channel my friend!!
Love the vibe of all your videos. Much love ❤
Yes I would like to see this Q&A I don’t know about it on a daily basis or weekly basis maybe twice out of the month or once a month, Keep doing what you doing enjoy everything I’m rooting for you can’t wait to see what you have for the future
Great video! My bucket list is to travel to Oregon and camp along side you some day! Thanks!
Can’t wait to hear these. Yay!😊
Excellent Q&A 🚐🌲🔥 Always been curious how you built your walls in your van…which video did I miss? 😊

Thanks so much, I enjoyed the Q&A session!
Hey neighbor. I owned some property near Prineville, upper davis loop. I never went out to the forest and just cut up firewood. Especially without a permit. I admire your bravery but every time I fired up the chainsaw it was like a varmint call. All of a sudden USFS would appear out of nowhere. I have a much disdain for bullies in uniform so, Btw, that's why I bought an electric saw. Stealthier. But carry on brother. l enjoy your videos.
Thanks Jason always amazing
Great Q&A Mr. Jason! 👍🏻😎
Great great video I enjoyed all the information on the chainsaw.
Great video! Hope you do another one sometime down the road. Interesting about the electric chainsaw also using oil, didn't know that but never owned one either. Well if it gets bogged down I'll just take it back!! lolol!!!
I have both a small Stihl and a DeWalt 60V chainsaw. With portable power (EcoFlow) and an inverter on my Tacama, I take the DeWalt camping. Have several batteries, chains, sharpener, etc. Got a tip somewhere that has come to play regarding bar oil. Use filtered used peanut fry oil instead. I have lots of this to dispose of anyway throughout the year, so it makes sense to use up instead of sending to a landfill. Upside is that it is a free recycled byproduct of cookng, and it's biodegradeable and non toxic to the environment. Only real downside to peanut oil is keeping it from going solid in cold weather, so I keep quart bottles stored in the warmer parts of the truck in colder adventures.

sounds like if you find someone with an old diesel engine, you'll have a best friend to help you get rid of that oil!

"Just deal with it " Dead on 😎
Thank you . Awesome Information
I’m so anxious for the announcement now lol
Very interesting Jason, thanks for sharing
You should meet up with Forresty Forrest while he is in your neck of the woods! Would be a sweet collab!
I've been happy with my DeWalt 20V saw I bought for $80 new, but my friend's Ryobi 40V went through some huge trees with no problem! Mine couldn't compare. I don't know which model he got, but he said it was cheap. Foresty Forest used his to build a small cabin in the woods, it was great! I recommend checking out that video. I wouldn't mind trying gas, but I don't use it frequently, and in small uses. I think the infrequent user would be better suited with electric. If you plan on using it frequently, long periods and often, use gas! I think Ryobi has a deal on a small saw for under $100 on BF. Good for smaller trees like a Christmas tree, maybe 6", but I wouldn't recommend it for like 10"+. Good to know about the bar oil! I saw the video about her van accident pop up randomly, so I've seen things from time to time.
Nice content, Jason. Love your videos.
Your tips are always useful
Thanks for the awesome vids Jason!
Enjoyed the Q&A, love your content!
I’ve been with you all the way back to the rooftop on the old ford keep on keeping on brother 🏕
Nice update. As always, you using gear for years is the best. Too many channels are promoting the latest thing. Your channel continues to grow, while your tools stay the same. Skillet
Liked the Q&A. Great "catch -up!
👍👍👍👍👍, Have a good Thanksgiving Jason !!
JASON, good down load and getting people up to speed. Haven't seen you town ... come by for Thanksgiving!
Like the content style. I don’t live live videos. Glad things are going well

Enjoyed it!
good session👍
Winter camping is nice in a van. The biggest problem I have/had is condensation.
Watching and just at the "chainsaw stealing" part and yes, some m😅ght take interest not because of the cheap or expensive pricing but as a trophy that its owned by Jason of Primal Outdoors. I suggest, lock all the time 😅
I'd like to know how you are liking starlink now that youve had it for a little while. what kind of speeds and how reliable is it while in the bush etc. Awesome video Jason, and thanks for doing this, its very informative.
Great review.
Great video, I agree on chainsaw but me also electric nice but I rather have gas, if you need or battery goes bad if you can find a battery it is extremely expensive an they do not like cold at least my experience, happy thanksgiving
Thanks 👍

Hello you have been selected among my lucky winners DM via the above name on telegram to claim your prize 🌲 🎁.
A periodic Q&A or AMA video would be terrific! I learn so much from them. To that end, and perhaps you already have a video that addresses this, did you find that the teardrop trailer limited where you could go in the backcountry? I LOVE your van. But, I just bought a newer 4WD F-150 so can't justify replacing it. So, I'm thinking about either a teardrop or cargo trailer conversion. What are your thoughts? Thank you!
I love your videos! And I will like to try the coffee. Please do shipping to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷! Cheers
Nice your place to camping
Ole Drifter here, have you ever thought of useing a candle to light your fires? also for cooking use Rice Bran oil very good cooking oil, looks like crisco oil but much healthier, can purchase on Amazon.
definitely want more videos like this and no - not every video has a re-hash / Q.A. (1 per month?)
Good stuff boss! edit: the ads volume is WAAAY louder than the rest of the video. please wear earphones and listen, and adjust accordingly, please if you want me as a subscriber.
Was good!
My webasto diesel heater has a thermostat and my van is diesel but if it wasn't that heater sounds nice.
Looks like the chain saw was sharp enough to shred blue jeans…. Lol

Ryobi reciprocating saw and demolition blades
The only thing I would like to say is that, you don't have to get a dog quick. I like the fact that you're not jumping right back on the horse and getting another puppy. And where did you find the sasquatch emblem for the side of the Van?
Great video 👍😁
