Firefighter speaks after rescuing driver from truck dangling off bridge
A daring rescue took place Friday in Louisville. A semi-truck crashed on a bridge and ended up dangling over the side with the driver still in the cab.
First responders rushed to the scene of the accident on the Clark Memorial Bridge and found the truck hanging off the side... with the driver still inside and unable to escape.

I would surggest a guard rail on the bridge stanchion road side, rather than a hand rail on the walk way, might be a wise upgrage to stop a simular incident.

The lanes on that bridge are very narrow, was designed about 100 years ago for cars such as Model T Fords, not 8 1/2 foot wide semis. ZERO extra clearance for a guardrail. My guess is driver fatigue & dozing off, since no mention of any other vehicles involved.

Send Mitch the bill. How many times has the bridge had to be inspected. Send him that bill too. The mere opening of the door could have been a more tragic outcome.

How on earth did she crash??? There is a speed limit on every bridge! And usually people drive extra cautiously on a bridge. Keep to the speed limit, keep the wheel straight, and bobs your uncle! How the heck.....????

That used to be the way. A lot of jockeying for position nowadays coast to coast. Cars and trucks - combined with distracted drivers and anything can happen. I drive a semi and numerous drivers bogart my right of way, including on bridges, in tunnels, etc, I’m amazed at how few crashes there are, I see several “but for the grace of God” moments per day.

Why is the female firefighter in back ground laughing during interviews? All firefighters get a little nervous during a fire/ rescue, but so the job and always tell your victim it will be okay to help calm them
