This is an old-time fiddle tune from the playing of Kentucky fiddler Isham Monday. I'm playing a Kevin Enoch Dobson Model banjo with a brass spun rim. The banjo is tuned open G.

What a fun piece to play.
Amazing! I shared this with pride on my facebook. This nearly made me cry. So beautiful.
I enjoy the songs you pick.
FABULOUS ! God bless those long slender fingers. You make it look effortless.
Love the nails tapping the head, rhythmic.
Lovely picking buddy
Just found myself applauding to the screen...
I love all the different levels of complexity. I have only been playing clawhammer for a year, and it took me a few days to learn the simple patterns. I will come back and learn from this great video for a long time to come. Your left hand technique when you climb up the neck is like a cold drop of water on a hot cast iron skillet! Awesome! By the way, is that a Pisgha banjo? I seem to be seeing a lot of those lately.

Oh my.
Hey Brad, you could make a mint if you sold bobbleheads that play banjo. Great playing, very enjoyable. I think I've met you -- I used to know your father Ken.
Super
Yup.
Hi, Brad
I'm used to hearing this song played in the key of A-major at 25 rpm.

I don't reckon I've heard better.
Hi Brad, I like you version but I was wondering... are those nylon strings?
So is this the fire on the mountain Johnny played against the devil in Georgia?

I wanna know too
Your own arrangement !? Or is this completely different from the other fire on mountains out there

This is based off of the Isham Monday version of Fire on the Mountain - quite different than the more common version of the tune.

@Brad Kolodner thanks so much! I just started learning a Bill Monroe facsimile and I'm amazed at how many varieties there are!
Does any one know if they're nylon strings ?
