Absolutely in for a kettle drawing! I bought the Ti Kessel and love it. It has become my default kettle/pot for camping and backpacking. I have a couple other kettles that have been relegated to shelf life in the wake of the Kessel, but I'm always up to try new gear options.

I love my GSI Ketalist for all the reasons you mentioned. I also own the Eagle Products 1.5Liter kettle, very similar to the Fire Maple you showed and it comes along when we go car camping. They are both excellent products, but I prefer the GSI Ketalist, since it also serves as a cook pot for rice, legumes and soups.

Thanks for the video! Besides the opening the other thing I like about the GSI is that it is packable within the GSI Bugaboo solo mess kit and the Woods Nootka set. (I have the aluminum kettle). The con is that the spout limits the fill height.

That is a neat little kettle, i have been wanting a small kettle for a while now, for coffee and tea while camping, something with a bit more room in it than my little stanley camp cook pot, so i can do hot water for my tea and coffee and still have water left over for oatmeal or ramen, definitely "in" for the kettle!

Great review! I bought the 1.5L version (based on an earlier review you did of the 1L) which is perfect for my little Scamp camper, making enough hot water for my mug of tea and oatmeal in the morning. And yes, please enter my name for a chance at the 1L. Thanks! Also, something you might consider is reviewing the REI OXO steel fry pans. I'm a big fan of cast iron Dutch ovens and and skillets but I recently bought the 8", 10" and 12" OXO steel pans because the handles are removable and are easier to store in my camper. But they are also lighter than cast iron and easier to lift and pour (I'm getting old and this is a plus). I'm also interested in the stainless Fire Maple fry pan for frying up acidic dishes so that is on my list.

Really like the look of the fire maple but on a practical level it just wouldn’t work so well for me. GSI kettle SS can accommodate a Clikstand stove with a windshield, a Trangia alcohol burner with fuel etc or a Trangia gas burner. The anodised aluminium GSI is also a great kettle but the opening is slightly small and makes it a very tight squeeze to get the Clickstand burner plate in. A Trangia Triangle will also fit.

GSI cookware is definitely biased towards the backpacking application, and is lighter. For shorter hikes the Fire Maple kettle looks like a good option. Kettles don't make it into my kit because I am a multiday/multi-week hiker in general, where nesting titanium cookware rules. I will likely be doing more camping in the future, revisiting special places along the Appalachian Trail, which I just finished in sections and may thruhike next year. My cookware collection will likely expand as I get into the retirement lifestyle. Thanks!

Hey Mark. On another topic, I just got my first Grohman knife. I’ve been waiting for seconds for the #1, but no luck, so I got the high carbon stainless small game one (field and fish?). I gotta say I actually like the few of it for a general around camp for for fishing. My Finnish one is the work knife. The fault in it actually took me a good few minutes to find. It’s so small. Nice little knife, a good add to my kit, and at half price a good deal. Oh, and they’re really struggling with staffing shortages. How is igneous there? Are the a lot of jobs to fill, and are they all just minimum wage jobs?
