Quite surprised to see you guys get dispatched to a car lock-in. Especially if no animal or child is trapped. Normally over in U.K., you just send for a locksmith. Seems like you guys turn out to everything to assist the community. Nice to see, keep up the great work.

As an FTO myself, I'm going to tell you that is a horrible thing to do. No one wants you to imitate them. He can be an inspiration and a mentor but that doesn't mean you should copy him. What I tell my trainees in EMS is you need to make the job your own. You need to be yourself. That doesn't mean that you can't use what you learn from others to help shape you, but in the end you need to be yourself. I'm sure Captain Pickford and any other mentor worth their salt would agree with that too. Make the role your own and become a mentor and role model for others to emulate, not to copy.

In Australia, ambulances are not connected to the firefighters so would be super interesting to watch :) I live in Sydney and in the NSW Ambulance Service we have paramedics, extended care paramedics, intensive care paramedics and also doctors, in the helicopters there is one intensive care paramedic and one doctor. I was looking at your Handie-Talkies. The are much smaller and probably more powerful than the ones my Father used in the 1970's. He served as an Asst. Chief for the Greensboro Fire Dept. retired 1978. I remembered those heavy H_T he had to carry around with big antennas. Another interesting aspect is the training that can be done at the local station. That was behind the scene stuff that I did not see but should have asked my father about. Do you all work 24 on 24 off or just regular 8 hour shifts. I do know you have A, B, and C shifts. It probably is a difference because of population Greensboro NC back during 70's was around 150K .
@lockedin60
3 жыл бұрын
@@SouthMetroFireRescuePIO Dad would work 24 on then 48 hours off. I don't know how he did it but he would work part-time at another job on his days off. Most of the fireman that worked during that era had part-time positions and a few had other businesses that they would work at on their days off. Pay was okay but nothing like it is today. But housing and other normal expenses were less expensive. But all expenses are relative anyway.
@FloRider663 жыл бұрын
Do you always send a second apparatus to medical calls? If there is a crew of three on the ambulance, it seems like beeing enough for day-to-day calls. Here in Germany, fire resources are usually only send for forcing doors or lift assistance. Some larger cities are using them as first responders too, but its not standard.

What I tell my trainees in EMS is you need to make the job your own. You need to be yourself. That doesn't mean that you can't use what you learn from others to help shape you, but in the end you need to be yourself. I'm sure Captain Pickford and any other mentor worth their salt would agree with that too. Make the role your own and become a mentor and role model for others to emulate, not to copy.
i’m 13 going on 14 and a couple months and i’ve always wanted to be a firefighter when i was older. So this really tells me how it’s gonna be. Love it

I am from Australia, not a firefighter but love seeing how it works in the US! Great Captain, can tell he looks after his team. I would love a video from the medics! How does it work in the US?

My favorite Day in the life.
For the vehicle lock out, most all cars have a key in the FOB and a covered key lock on the door handle. Pop the tab off and open the door with the key.
Siempre estan en alerta y listos para los llamados por ayuda.muy bien por los bomberos.
Awesome channel brothers! Keep safe always!
Respect you all
Ok suspense kicked in so how did it turn out for the guy who shorted the crew a pizza. Wonder what the fire station punishment was

Pretty cool helmet shield.
Nice to see ur face Eric :)
Hi from uk 🇬🇧 I am quite amazed how different USA fireman are compared to UK 🇬🇧 firemen even your helmets example you have big metal helmets over here we have motorcycle style helmets but a wider front

Stay Safe out there y'all
Firefighters are superheroes!
I love you firefighters
I started by whatch ing one and now I want to join. SMFR when I’m older
Firefighters...One of the people I respect is a firefighter, so I'm not like anyone else and I'm tearing up. I was able to relate to it, so I looked at it more closely. Please always take care of yourself.
Thanks you
Not to busy a dept but seems like a solid officer.
You’ll need to do more day in the life
