Fire Attack Effects on Adjacent Spaces

Фильм және анимация

Ever wonder about the effects of suppression efforts in adjacent spaces?
Check this out!
In this is just a video of a strong convection current in the hallway on the first floor an acquired structure burn. The hallway was shaped like a long L. From the position of the TIC if you look down the hall the burn rooms are straight ahead and then off to the left. The hallway then juts out around another short stretch before entering the living room that you see on the second portion of this video (approximately at the 18 second mark)
Notice in the second portion of the video (18-51 seconds) it shows an adjacent living room environment being cooled by crews flowing water down the fire hallway and eventually extinguishment. The living room that you see in the video is around the corner and short section of hallway from the rooms in the first portion of the video.
In this scenario the engine crew moved and flowed down the hallway. Notice the thermal patterns and convection currents begin to slow and diminish as water flows down the hallway towards the fire room.
This video shows the dramatic cooling effects on adjacent rooms by suppression efforts as they flow and move toward the seat of the fire.
Special thanks to our friends in Ohio for sharing this video with us. This video was filmed with a FLIR K55/65.
