Breaking the Silence-The Truth about Opiate Abuse Among Firefighters

Фильм және анимация

Are you aware of the prescription drug abuse problem in the fire service?
Up to 10% of firefighters actively abuse prescription-only drugs, such as opioids. For those who turn to prescription drugs, it sometimes stems from a physical injury that occurred while working.
Do you have a plan as a firefighter or company officer if you or someone you know becomes addicted to these medications?
These problems need professional medical help through programs such as medica detox and in-patient treatment.
Fire Departments would be wise to have programs in place to assist their firefighters with these issues before losing their job, their family, and possibly their lives.

I take an opiate medication so I can function like a normal person. I couldn’t hold down a job without them. I have been taking them for around 15-20 years now. They give me a quality of life that I would not have without them. I take them only as prescribed by my doctor, who thank the Lord cares enough to realize how much they help me. I don’t know who this man is, but, I’m sorry, he is full of crap! And it’s because of people like him that more and more regulations are put on these medications, making it harder and harder for physicians to prescribe them. Don’t buy his bs!
