I think the elevators would recall during a fire alarm event if one of 2 things. 1. The Smoke detector in the Elevator machine room has activated. 2. The Smoke detector in the Elevator Shaft has activated. Keep in mind that that there is also a heat detector in the elevator machine room, so if the heat detector gets activated, then the elevator will shunt trip, that means the fire alarm panel will tell the a special service disconnect for the elevator to trip, cutting the power to the elevator. But maybe the elevator stopped on Floor #1 because the fire alarm system told the elevator to stop on the nearest floor. Or maybe someone just called it. Also keep this in mind, some people may already know this, but this is for some people in the elevator community that don't know this.

I'm legitimately confused. Wouldn't the elevator be recalled when the fire alarms go off? Maybe it was a fault of somesort in the system.

No, I think they likely have not hooked it up to recall the elevators if the fire alarms go off.

It's probably not hooked up to the fire alarm system. If it was, then it would go into Fire Service Phase I.

Elevators are only recalled if a smoke detector near that elevator gets tripped.

They might didn’t turn on the fireman’s mode so that’s why is not recalling.

These elevators are supposed to go into fire service when the alarms are going off. Well it was definitely nice that the fire alarms didn’t make the obnoxious HONK sound.

it could be a lamp test, which is used to check the blinking lamps, but not activating the audible alarm sound.

This was a cause of a test Probably. As the elevators didn’t go into recall.

On certain elevators, there's a key switch. That'll need to be turned in order for the elevators to recall to the lobby

@@itigo23 Even if it has a switch, some elevators will go into phase 1 when the alarm goes off.

the type of alarm those are if your interested its a system sensor specteralert advanced SPSR speaker strobe (wall mount model only).

Probably had the panel in test mode which is what engineers use when testing the call points

It does not even matter if there's no sound coming out of the strobes just evacuate the garage immediately do not continue filming those elevators that is a dangerous thing to do when the fire alarm is sounding Another Even though strobes are just flashing and the sound is coming out just evacuate the garage and stop Filming the elevators until you figure out what's wrong with the garage thank you

They remind me of the college students that had to be told to evacuate by a member of staff I was in one of the buildings at a college I shall not name, but it is in the UK, and the fire alarm went off As I was unsure if it was a test, I counted to 10 in my head, 10 seconds had passed, alarm still sounding But as none of the other students moved, I stood there like a lemon 🍋 for a few seconds before a member of staff told everyone to evacuate

They are just as bad as every student at a college I used to go to Fire alarm went off in one of the buildings, all the students assumed it was a test, more than 10 seconds passed, alarm still going off I counted to 10 in my head, incase it was a test, but as no one else moved I ended up stood there like a lemon 🍋, until a member of staff told everyone to evacuate EDIT: Oh, and there was another time I can think of, when I was in a classroom, fire alarm went off, more than 10 seconds passed, teacher decided that the alarm was going on longer than usual for a test, and JUST as we got out the classroom door the alarm was turned off, so we went back into the classroom, and it was just a test

The reason some Fire alarms were going off and some were not is on some Fire alarm control panels you can pick which alarms go off which one don’t. Also there would have been a message playing saying to leave the building but they probably disabled the message if they were testing the system.

It was the speaker strobe when there is no voice evacuation message playing but the speakers are on there is a buzzing that the amplifier inside the Fire alarm panel plays through the speakers

I've known a room full of college students (that I was among) to just sit there doing whatever while the fire alarm was sounding for more than 10 seconds (I tend to wait 10 seconds if I am not sure if it a test or I think it is a test) After the alarm had been sounding for 10 seconds, because no one else moved, I stood there like a lemon 🍋 until a member of staff told everyone to evacuate
