We got our churches very mixed up. The church in the video is a Lutheran church. The Orthodox one is red.

In Finland, 68.7% are Lutheran and only 1.1% are Orthodox, so it is reasonable to assume that you will find mostly Lutheran churches in a large part of the country.

The polar plunge really is about the heat afterwards. It is especially good for those with chronic pains since it pumps the body's own painkillers and lower inflammation. The actual studied health benefits of Sauna is about "heat shock proteins". Cells start to produce those when you are subjected to very high heat, not enough to burn but enough to trigger this mechanism. Heat shock proteins are good for ex at straightening proteins that have curled on themselves, which is usually what happens when you get heat damage: proteins start to cook and curl. Protein that is like a ball of string does not do its job. So, those heat shock proteins repair cell damage, and the cells are better prepared for further heat shock, starting to produce heat shock proteins more easily. They do also repair other damage, which is where the health benefits come. It is the only research and peer reviewed health effect. There can be more but we don't yet really know. It lowers stress and inflammation but those are so temporary that it is difficult to say how much it helps.. but, few hours of having less stress and inflammation isn't bad for us..

You're right. Both the Stockholm-Helsinki and Helsinki-Tallinn ferries were built here in Finland. The first one is already 34 years old and the latter was built as recently as 2022. And when it comes to shipbuilding in Finland the world's largest cruise ship the Icon of the seas was finished late last year and her sister ship is already being built in Turku Finland.

Those mega ships don't travel from Helsinki, but the Helsinki port is the busiest passenger port in the world. Which is really surprising given that it's a fairly small country. But it's faster to travel by sea between Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallinn than by land and many do it just as a work commute or for weekend trips. So the ferries are fancy because A. they get a lot of use B. we have lots of shipbuilding experience.

3:00 The temperature of the water that you throw on the rocks in sauna really doesn't matter. Some use warm or even hot water to prolong the life of the rocks but other than that, it doesn't make any difference. All the water that hits the stones will boil and cause more steam into the room. And if you actually measure the sauna room temperature before and after throwing the water on rocks (called "löyly") with a highly accurate equipment, you'd find that the room temperature slightly decreases! However, the additional steam in the air will prevent your skin from cooling down normally which causes the air to feel super hot. I personally like it when sauna is about 70 °C and 70 %RH which is really moist and feels pretty hot.

I've just joined your journey since the Copenhagen vlog & then i went back & started binge watching from Corfu. So the last couple of days i've watched Cheveyo with short hair & you guys travelling mostly Europe, Thailand & Vietnam in a sunny hot climate. I think it's safe to say that you both handle heat better than the cold )). You're gonna have a blast looking back on some of these old videos years from now when your done travelling. Safe journey & all the best from CPH Denmark ❤.

It’s so interesting you can identify your heart is slowing down when suddenly submerged in cold water. The sudden cold actually can actually activate your parasympathetic nervous system and that slows down your heart! In fact, we call dunking the face in ice water a ‘vagal maneuver’ to slow down the heart when it’s in an abnormally fast rhythm.

Appreciate how you're upfront about what you do & don't particularly like in each destination 🙂 I've lived in Denmark & I agree about the rye bread. Interesting video 👍

Copenhagen is a beautiful city and your postcard represents it well. I would love to find that in my mailbox! Love your travels of Scandinavia too!

This was a pleasant video to watch as a Finn. 😊 I used to live in Helsinki, and enjoyed strolling around the center regularly.

I'm still following your adventures from Australia. It's a tad hot here... 44°c today here in Perth. That cold looks a bit intense.

Sitting here watching this in humid sweaty conditions and your dip in the pool refreshed me and enjoy as usual the different food each place presents. Compared to the Aussie pie here, that definitely was more a burger than a pie of sorts. Stay warm ….

I'm from Adelaide, South Australia and enjoyed seeing around Helsinki and your ferry trip. It brings back memories of my visit there and the ferry trip many years ago. I also went to Copenhagen on the same trip and Tia's colourful postcard also makes me think of my time there. It's the best so far Tia!

That polar plunge looked so cooooooold! You had a cold day and went into a cafe to drink hot drinks and warm up. I had a hot day walking around Bangkok and went into a cafe to drink cold drinks and cool down.

Another Aussie here (Newcastle) and that meat pie is hilarious! Great job with the ice dip guys! We did Helsinki in May so it was way different.
