The biggest real differences between the final candidates are their personalities. No big ideological differences, both are experienced politicians and have gone through some scandals in the past too.

Nine candidates in the first round (just one bad apple - my opinion 😅) but only four of them had foreign policy experience.

Many Congratulation dear Mr. Alexander Stubb!! Our prayers carry within, wishes of a world peace.

My candidate now my president. We had a very fair and respectful camping and the result was clear in 1,5 hour.

Russian propaganda is very much alive in this discussion thread. I voted for Haavisto but I’m totally ok with Stubb. He is liberal and very strongly pro democracy. Good and decent guy all in all.

I dont think the green party would have been a good choice. The precident are handling foreign policy but even that could harm the econonic develoment with the green party thinking. The solution for the environment are not to stop our companies but to develop them in a more environmental direction something that the green party dont understand. They are to much into stopping everything instead of create solutions.

Not true, Stubb won this election because vote from Swedish speaking Finns. Swedish speaking municipalitys give they vote to Stubb like members of religions cult. This was enought to give won to Stubb. Many social conservatives dosen't even vote this second round. Voting activity drop almost 6% from first round.

I actually considered him first but let’s be real, Finland doesn’t survive if it’s just for finns. Of course there are many problems that needs to be solved so that things can work but our birthrate is going downhill for 10th year in row. That’s why we need international relationships and more people who want to come to live here, work, pay taxes and start a family. Otherwise there will be no one left to pay our pensions in the future and instead we pay back nations debts through enormous taxes for the rest of our lives 🤷‍♀️
