I'm a hockey player myself, but I've always admired the skating skill bandy players have, especially their use of long glides is incredible. Also, I like to watch bandy games, but unfortunately it is true that most people are not comfortable of spending their time outside in the cold. Hopefully they're able to build an indoor bandy arena soon, the winters are getting shorter in the south of Finland. Not good for pond hockey either.

This video is truly amazing for a guy with only 205 subs. Now 206 from me! Here in Canada, outdoor hockey has mostly disappeared as a result of global warming, since the vast majority of Canadians live in a 100 mile strip on our southern border. I can see why a large rink is not economically viable since fans are farther from the action and it's cold to be sitting outside. Even so, there's nothing more memorable than playing shinny on natural ice. The sounds, the cold, the wind, and the friendship are a life memory.

If I could give one critique if would be to ask to possibly mic up a coach or player during a game/practice and use some of that sound. Maybe you already did. I'd also say try to do your "on camera" parts of the video standing up so it'll look more conversational. Amazing video overall man, and like I said, you obviously did research and put work into this, just thought I'd try to give a few helpful tips. God bless you!

The rules developed about the same time as hockey(1875) so I assume it was developed about the same time when bandy rules came out(1882), back then it almost took the swimmers 7 years to deliver the mail between Canada and UK so :D Only thing with bandy is that its not as "TV friendly" as hockey, like there can be a goal without you noticing and then of course they are not paid to fistfight that really shouldn't even be part of hockey. Those interested in blood can go watch boxing or some other fighting sport.

The language issue was talked in an extremely Helsinki-centric way. I want to clarify that Finland is a bilingual country in name and law only. Finland has bilingual regions scattered around the coastline. Inland the Swedish language is non-existent. For instance here in the second-largest city Tampere, it's literally been more than a decade since I last heard Swedish being spoken. There are no Swedish road signs or anything that would remind you of Swedish language in your daily life. Unless you are in a school or in a university. Then it's mandatory for you to study Swedish because Helsinki says so. It's a really fucked up system which is impossible to justify.
