Fine pitch BGA deadbug soldering
Ғылым және технология
A little demo of "dead bug" soldering, where you solder electronic chips upside down with wires.
More info at xevel.org
EDIT: after talking with a TI engineer, it appears that it's among the worst possible ways to use this particular chip, since leaving the die exposed causes incorrect readings.

Man. You oppened my eyes to the powerrr! WoW!
i usually do that for "easier chips", SOP can be done sometimes soldering directly with 0.5mm solder wire, worth buying a "pack" of SOP8 to DIP adapters anyways, a lot of SOP8 come around, sometimes salvagable
I am trying to imagine this with 48x2 pins. My heart is sinking.
awesome! take that, parkinson!!! heating the wire makes perfectly sense, what makes you swear hard when you solder one place and gets off another bit nearby, can also be your friend :D
You good sir are insane and I applaud you for it. That is amazing. I can't even reflow something that small.
Thank you very much. Have to do the same and had no idea how to handle such a small IC.
Excellent video, and I love your choice of music!
Have to skip your morning coffee to be steady enough for this.

they say a bit rised elbow helps
I think it's Moby - Harbour
Near this chip the soldering iron becomes similar a crowbar
Now that is a steady hand...
Great work man.
Nice work!
Great little demo! Aside: Give "Supreme Beings of Leisure" a listen if you don't already have them somewhere in your playlists. :-)
Mostly, I would be very annoyed. If I ever do something like that, I'll post another video.
Hackaday sent me. wow. simply mesmerizing.
what are the titles of two songs in the very beginning?
right, thank you very much
Man, you are frikking NUTZ! That's some leetness!
What is a dead bug and what does it do?

If organic... Not a whole lot! :P If silicon... It means an upside down microchip. You solder wires manually to each chip connection. It's called "deadbug" style, cause the old chips kinda looked like a plastic caterpillar with all it's metal legs sticking up in the air... like a dead bug.
what song is playing on 0:55...?
are you a wizard
Рядом с таким чипом паяльник становится похожим на лом :-)
Like за Moby и прямые руки
I like your technique better, as you respect the IC.
what is the pitch? 0.5 mm?

Yep. The chip is a TMP0007 from TI.
Luckily, all the pins are on the outside, not an array. How would you go about doing the same to a 4x3 bga array (with two of the balls in the middle)

easily!
Wish me luck... I have some 7x7 48 pin BGAs I need to solder. If I can't get PCBs made... this is my solution ;_;
Masochistic bastard. Excellent work!
Вот и мне интересно
