This is why I stick to wash and gos with my fine, low to medium density gray hair. Wash and gos have never failed me. I don't stretch my hair because the shrinkage gives me the appearance of volume which I love.

I keep trying and trying to see what I can Improve while doing a twist style on my hair. I be thinking how do I want my hair styled. Do I want a wash and go style and or do I want a twist style and later untwist it. So when I untwist it it looks kinda bushy. Then I was thinking about just keep it twisted and don't touch it for a few days.

My gray hair is definitely more coarse and I am coming to grips with it. Working on finding a great product for my thick hair. It’s definitely growing now and that wasn’t happening until I stopped using the dye. I beat breast cancer and now I’m getting bold by not using hair dye anymore. It has been 3 months post BC, but 10 months since I have stopped using hair dye.

I think you should try flat twisting in smaller sections. Flat twist outs WERE my go to style, but I had to make sure they weren't too big or small. Too big, no definition. Too small, they were frizzy!

It would have been pretty if you wouldn't have wet it ,you took away. the curl and the body in it ....Once you curl it or plait it. never wet it. Be sure all of that is done before. You have beautiful hair. The cut is gorgeous.

Your texture seems similar to mine (at least 1 of my 3). At shorter lengths the twist outs work for me but my has a mind of its own as it gets longer. The high puff is always a go to. The end result was beautiful! 😊

You should also try Bask&Bloom Twirly gel and or the Curl mousse because your wear wash&go. I use her products for my 2strand twists.

I agree...it was actually looking pretty cute in the front...more twists, some EcoStyler Gel on the edges, put on some makeup and you would have been rockin' it!!

Maria what an insightful comment! My hair is deceptively short. Kaolin Clay Powder that I use did not have a brand name. I got it off of Amazon but if you have a health food store I believe you can find it there. Let me know if that answers your question. Hi Nina! I’m going to have to vote with Ava on this one. I mean you have a lot of hair albeit short, and I think I saw you take down like eight perm rods. I don’t really know what you were expecting with eight rollers on the very ends of the front of your hair, but all of your hair wasn’t on the rod just the ends. Idk can you really expect your entire head to curl or stand up from just those eight rollers on the end? I think if you commit to perm rod all over your head you’ll probably get a better result. Also, your hair was behaving weighed down like it had too many heavy products so idk, just an observation from what I could tell from the video.

Hi Theresa! I have done this style before on my hair before it was this gray and had good results. The perm rods help keep the ends curled. Thank you for the observations and suggestions. Stay tuned to see a do over.

I have experienced the same thing on my natural hair using lotta body setting lotion and rods I must say it did not look good so I never did it again 😆

I like it, myself. Don't separate it so much, leave the twists almost in tact. As for my own abysmal atttempts, pin up or ponytail, depending!

I either put on a headband or rinse it out and start over, if I am pressed for time, wet it and put it in 2 flat twists. You know Lucy Pearl likes to act up on occasion.

Your hair is so beautiful! Next time try at least 5-10 flat twists directed to the back. Maybe it will give you the outcome you desire, without using rods.

There wasn't enough moisture and the product didn't allow for clumpage.

Try a curling cream, gel or custard. I alternate between those, only because I have the products to use up and just plain ol' hair grease.
