💚 I also have 2 beautiful bonded pair of quakers. My female is an earth angel, very sweet and delicate with me and never bites. However she can be very loud, needy and has separtion anxiety related to me. My male is super chill and easy to please. He does tho bite without any warning signs or body language, very territorial. Its defiently a personality thing but ive definitely seen more territorial/aggressive/alpha traits in male quakers than females. Great work for getting on top of Tiki's health issues early !

I’m so glad Tiki is OK I have a green cheek Conure and always referred to him as her until I knew the sex I did change the pronouns, but, when I’m praising him I always say good girl ,you’re right when it comes to a bird that you’re not breeding and you don’t care you don’t even think of them as boy or a girl

Did you get Tiki from a shelter? I’ve heard some of your bird’s talk and seen it’s behaviors and it reminds me a LOT of a bird I had over 15 years ago, named PJ. My mom gave him up to a shelter when I was away one weekend, she did stuff like that a lot. Seems like a happy bird! PJ and I used to spend all day hanging out.

Perks of getting your parrot DNA gender tested, it’s a great way to look for specific health issues that apply to males vs females. And also if you have multiple birds of the same species it’s nice to know. Best thing about my indian ringneck is I didn’t have to spend the money, he came to me with his ring. My two quakers on the other hand, rip my wallet😂

The easiest way to find out is to put a cuttlebone chew in the cage. Males don't touch it at all, but females do.

@@Lexxytron I don’t think that’s necessarily true. My dna tested female has never touched her cuttlebone, but my male ringneck loves them.

Hmm, interesting. Yeah, we've only ever had one female bird, a budgie, and she was the only one who ever chewed cuttlebone. Our conure, congo grey, and other budgies who were all male never once touched it.

if its a male then it would keep going to girls because i had a bird that looked like your bird but if it is a female then it would keep going to the guys

Having had a wonderful male conure, I could instantly tell that Tiki was a boy. Honestly, the males make better pets.

@@Solanyx the males have stronger personalities, tend to talk more, and are generally more interested in the day-to-day activities of the household. Tiki displays all of these traits.
