Psilocybin mushrooms are demonstrating encouraging positive effects in mental health studies, showing potential benefits for conditions like depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Research suggests that psilocybin therapy may offer new avenues for treatment in mental health, although further clinical trials are needed to establish its efficacy and safety.
For educational and informational purposes only. This video aims to provide educational information and harm reduction strategies for individuals interested in identifying mushrooms. It is intended to promote safe practices and increase awareness about the potential risks associated with mushroom hunting.
I do not recommended that you pick and consume any fungi unless you are 100% certain that the species is what you think it is.
Please note: There are many fungi species across the world that are poisonous and deadly. I do not recommended that you pick and consume fungi unless you are certain that the species is safe and have had it confirmed by a specialist. Some fungi are also illegal to forage so please check the law in your local area.

    @BILLYBONGCHEEKS Not really. It's actually not that easy to kill or seriously harm yourself with poisonous mushrooms, especially if you're hunting actives and not edibles. You actually have to consume a relatively large amount of most poisonous mushrooms before they'll do any serious damage. One nice big death cap could do some damage, but not any liberty cap lookalike. It's actually very, very rare for anyone to die in an attempt to consume psychoactive mushrooms because the lookalikes just aren't that toxic, so you'd have to eat a whole bunch of them. Deaths caused by mushrooms almost always involve people hunting for edibles, and nearly all of those cases involve death caps; they're really the big danger in the mushroom hunting world. Definitely never take any chance on anything that looks like a white amanita. I mean i'd certainly still suggest people be sure before consuming anything anyway, but it's not actually true that people stand to die if they eat one little toxic lookalike

Even the flicking thing is questionable given that the spores are microscopic. Just pick as many mature ones as you need. Don't be greedy. Simple enough!

  • @lewreed1871

    @lewreed1871

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@SirPhytone The mushroom is the fruiting body of the living mycelium, and in the case of psilocybe semilanceata -- the liberty cap -- that can only grow in decaying grass near ground level. That's why they can't be cultivated. The mycelial layer for libs is constantly being broken up and reformed, particularly if there are people and cattle around, and sheep graze mushrooms along with grass without much thought for scissoring things. I've seen them come year after year on a rugby pitch where play was held two or three times a week. They only stopped appearing there when drainage was improved on the pitch. There is much debate about cutting mushrooms with a knife rather than picking, but authorities I trust, including Paul Stamets, my three chunky field guides, Merlin Sheldrake, chef Antonio Carluccio, all say it's myth. Fungi are extremely tough organisms. I'm all for etiquette and respecting them, but picking does no harm. I meant no disrespect to you either, but what you perceived as "arrogance" may just be decades of experience talking, and not just with libs. If I saw someone out snipping them with scissors I'd have to stifle a laugh. In fact, for some culinary mushrooms, plucking them is essential to correct identification. It's also a good way for lib identification because the mycelial strands at the bottom of the stipe will often blue in contact with the air. But by all means, you stick with your scissors.

    This video is excellent (solely for identification purposes of course), but the famous nipple isn't a very helpful identifier if lookalikes are around because the mushrooms are small and the lookalikes are so similar. I like the focus on stems in the video. Liberty caps are identifiable by their caps, but better distinguished from lookalikes by the stem. A point not mentioned here about the stems -- they always, without fail -- have a bendy/wiggly/crooked stem, and the stem is always pale. If you get a mushroom with a straight stem, chuck it. Anything with a thick-looking stem should be chucked also. Avoid anything with a black/dark stem. Another point about long grass is the caps of mature ones will struggle up through long/clumpy grass. Lookalikes don't. The stems can be surprisingly long, and you'll see the bendiness as though they've twisted up through the grass. It's worth disturbing the grass a bit when you find one of these or hunker down and scan around as they're often in groups. A final point -- try to get the whole stem. The fibrous base will often stain blue with exposure to air. Flick caps before you pick to release spores. Try not to clear a whole site. Leave babies behind. Be certain of four or five and the rest will almost call to you.

    LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Best place I know for mushrooms are golf courses. Once you pick one you will never get it wrong. Magics when fresh look like they are coated in slime, and the nipple looks like you can look into it compared to the body, and when older the mushroom turns white, but once put in a freezer and defrosted it looks new. The biggest ones I've found were in Hexham, and were the tallest I've seen, and if you accidentally wander onto the racecourse you will see more than you've ever seen. What a lot of people DON'T do, is plant them where they would like to collect them, but I did, and while everyone went in camping trips I went to a disused cemetery where I scattered some and they grew amazing. Back to my first point, if you know a golf course that is next to natural, or old land, then they are full to the brim and no one really goes to pick them.

    I live in central west Europe. The grasslands here are like this: they are like farms that grow grass and then harvested for livestock feeding. Therefore the grasslands are rarely natural and wild. And they are usually surrounded by conifer trees. In some of them there are animal manure, mostly of sheep. In some of these lands I see many types of mushroom and many lookalikes of liberty cap, but never a single liberty cap. I have been looking for them throughout autumn. I really can't understand why I can't find any. Some of the fields that I go are very similar to those that are considered ideal field. I can only hypothesize that maybe PH of this region is not proper, because there are many limestone mines around. I have almost given up. But again, thank you for your great educational videos.

    Panaeolus can be magic as well! If you do find yourself with panaeolus there is no harm in eating them, as none of the pans are poisonous. There are all either edible or magic!

    Great advice. I've never been big into shrooms, but I've noticed an abundance of mushrooms lately, so I went out and picked a load. I reckon I've got some goodies and some duffers. As you say, practice makes perfect. Thanks for this.

    @@hugostiglitz4777 i would go with 2grm. Xxx also go with gut feel. If you feel a little less or more when you see them, just go with your gut. It's not just for having fun. It is the after effects too. The next day you feel so positive and much lighter as a person. Hence the reason why they are researching these little fellas as an anti depressant. Funny how Wales has one of the highest suicide rates but the medicine is right in our back yard lol.

    I have a sneakey feeling that these shrooms will change the way you speak forever. They have a side effect that somehow makes it impossible to end any sentence without the word man.... Man.😆
