It’s possible year round. The weather here changes so quickly. It can be 30 degrees and the next day 65 Lol

Most are open. They usually have reduced hours. Check with the mines you are interested in and they can give you more information. ✌️

What causes the crystals to be “milky”?

I think it’s the time that it cools off. The quicker the cooling, the more milky. Also impurities or earth changes can make them more milky

A pretty decent day???????? Are you kidding me or what........for surface collecting you found some MAGNIFICENT specimens and so many of then. So why are they laying all over the ground? Is the owner mining super large ones and just throws dirt containing the smaller ones on the ground????????

Thank you! Yes it’s common to find surface stuff because it’s hard to see all of them when they are covered in dirt. And then the rain washed them to make them easy to spot 😁
