My father's family has been in the area since 1810. My grandmother always pronounced it Freeze's Mill.

Hey Mickey, those concrete ruins that you labeled as “Fries Mill” are actually the remains of the “New Jersey Sillica Sand Company” from the 1930s-1950s. The real remains of Fries Mill are the older ruins you came across on the trail with the fireplace and other old remnants of foundations.

When I was a kid, Rutgers University Press put out a couple of "Forgotten Towns of Southern New Jersey" books I loved to read them and always planned to search for some of them.
