i’ve been putting TLC into this old 2001 rm 125 that i got for a steal absolutely in love with it , super simple and easy to work on

Scored on that buy .. had 2 myself .. a 87 model and a 88 .. love my Yamahas , started on a 85 YZ 80 ... 89 rolled around and bought my favorite bike ever .. 89 YZ 250 ... also had a 92 KX125 and a 92 KX 500 , the YZ 250 topped them all ✊🏼

At 14, my first bike was a 1985 Yamaha YZ 125. It was tall and fast as hell. I actually traded with a friend for a newer YZ 80, and that is the bike I LEARNED how to ride on! The last bike that i owned was a Kawasaki KX 250.

What makes it funny and good to watch

Atleast the kid was being honest with not doing any maintenance. So many people say whatever you want to hear. Its always, fresh rebuild zero hours. As all hardware rusted in place caked in dirt..

Its only good for the piston pin bearing and every part that gets lubed up from the oil you mix. So that bottom and top end is in god shape!👍 if you don’t rev it out in a while it’s gonna clog up! A Tip is to not engine break👍👍👍

that is only if you do not have the thing jetted right, and some other factors. A well jetted 2 stroke will have 1/8 to a 1/4in pool of oil in the crank case at all times, It can take more then 90 minutes to circulate all the oil in a 2t engine.

He probably meant 50:1 let’s just hope that atleast

@@mickey1695 when riding a 2 stroke machine you need to mix oil with the gas, that is the gas to oil ratio, idek how people measure it but it's definitely gas/oil one way or another

I got my 2019 for 4200 last year. Crazy deal... If you’re still having issues with the carburetor , try changing your jet block gasket! It’s a $7 fix, mine had an issue with running super super rich and issues idling similar to what your bike seems to be doing... it was bad from factory. It’s an issue with the Mikuni carbs.. that’s if yours is having rich issues. Have fun man

And clean the air filter. The kid wasn’t even sure where it was so if it’s never been cleaned it could be filthy and one big reason it won’t idle.

The front lever was definitely bent by hand for ergonomics, not from a drop. They break off really easily when dropped on.

I would say it's the gasoline mixture. I also thought the idle screw needed attention but when i fueled it up it ran amazing. Always try switching the gasoline before attempting anything else!

I ride an 04 rm 125 with an 20 over piston and built race ready ten years ago, only did one top end rebuild and went through 2 clutches.

Clean bike man, I don’t wanna sound like your parents or whatever, but you really should where a helmet when you ride.

have you adjusted the throttle cable right next to it, could just be that and it’ll idle before removing the carb and filter

2 strokes sound sooo nice. They take a while to like though I used to think 4 strokes sounded better
