Finding An Apartment in Berlin | 1st Viewing Success & 2 Month Search
After living in Berlin, Germany for 3 years, I had to move out and tackle the beast of a task that is flat searching in Berlin, alone. Here is how I approached it in 2022 and managed to secure a long term rental home with my first viewing.
Disclaimer: I understand there are wider, political issues at hand when discussing available accommodation & the housing market in Berlin. It's not something I dive into in this particular video, however I hope my experience & tips will help other foreigners/expats/immigrants (however you define yourself!) who are moving or have already moved to Berlin, and perhaps feeling deflated by the search.
As always, feel free to share helpful knowledge, articles & videos for everyone in the comments :)

You're most welcome!
thank you so much for this!! currently trying to move to berlin from the uk and honestly it feels so impossible to find an in. i'll only be 19/20 at the time of moving, and i don't plan on studying there so i feel like i have absolutely no safety net. your videos have really helped me to organise the bigger picture a little bit more. please carry on making them, they're insanely helpful!! edit: also, yes, please fight for lower rent!! this needs to be done not just in berlin but in most places worldwide now

@@Vargolis that's so exciting!! please give me updates if you remember, i need guidance on this kind of thing sooo bad
I am moving to Berlin from Munich, and even though I am already an established german resident’ and I have lots of experience in apartment hunting - I still found your video very useful and informative. But most importantly- inspiring! Thank you! Many others just make jokes or make it sound impossible to find an apartment in Berlin, which makes the search even worse.

@Daily Restore I'm looking to move at the end of the year, so it certainly is! Have you heard of anyone having success finding somewhere without having feet on the ground? Through online viewings or such?

@@arbsn Only via the short term furnished lets I mentioned in the video at 7:12 - it seems they cater a lot for people moving from overseas. Best of luck!
Hey Loren! Im using WG Gesucht and the first time in lived in Berlin I found a room almost immedietly but this time round (moving in a month) its proving a lot more difficult!

Oh no, those were the glory days! (I've seen in your other comment it was 2015). I hope something works out for you in time for Berlin round 2!
👍👍👍
Great video. I’m an African and I’m looking to move to Berlin sometime in the future. Can you estimate a range for how much a single room or a bedroom and living room would cost in the outer areas of Berlin?

Hmm I'm not sure I would be the best person to answer this for you! I only have experience searching in the inner area of Berlin in 2022. Apologies.
I really want to take the leap of faith and move to Berlin but the whole housing situation is really putting me off 😞

Oh I understand, it's definitely the biggest turn off! A short term let or WG (flat-share) might be more achievable when first moving over, and from there you could start to source something longer term for yourself. I'd say most people start with something temporary before landing their forever home. Yes the housing situation is hard to crack, but not impossible!

@@DailyRestore thanks for the confidence boost!
You rent a cage that is not an apartment, also you can't compare the weather here in Berlin with London, London doesn't have sunshine, while berlin is often sunny especially in summer it sunny almost every day.

All I can say: welcome to Germany. German digitilasition is a disaster. I'm glad you found a place for yourself because people with brains are always in demand. Sunlight is important! Be careful not to be scammed. Be glad you don't live in NRW. I love seeing my country through your eyes.
Everyone overpaying is causing the housing crisis.
Welcome in Berlin ! 🐰💫🐣🤏✨💐😄
