It's fantastic to see events like this fostering connections between women professionals and senior executives! 💼 The guidance and support from sponsors can truly propel careers forward, especially in environments where women are underrepresented in leadership roles.

So sorry but as a woman i cannot relate to this at all. Why aren’t female C-suites invited? Does it not look weird that multiple women are tagged to one male C-suite person? Are we just bringing men together to make them feel more superior than women? This is a big step backwards to me. I am definitely not waiting for any “C-suite man” to sponsor me, but rather someone I look up to and has proven herself/ himself to be a capable leader, regardless of gender.

Hello! A great question. This involves C-suite men committing to leverage their influence to fulfill specific asks by the women they are paired with, going beyond advice to actual sponsorship. There is an excellent organization called MentorWalks, which involves C-suite women mentoring other women and they do this every 2 months. Walk the Talk was created because there is no similar initiative that includes male mentors and sponsors in Singapore. Given that many organizational leaders and decision-makers are still predominantly men, we formed Walk the Talk to tap into this network to foster tangible career advancements for women. And you’re absolutely right - no one should be waiting for a sponsor (or mentor) to appear in front of them but rather seek these individuals out in the right way. Uma. Founder of Lean In Singapore.
