Find Your Voice Talk at Guildford Goes Wild 2023

Campaigner and strategist Owen Gibbons discusses how individuals can get involved in campaigns to encourage others to take action.
Owen Gibbons has spent much of his career as a campaigner, policy adviser and advocate for change - from his first role as a campaigner at Amnesty International through more than ten years as a campaigner and advisor at the UK and international offices of the environmental organisation, WWF, to his current role as Regional Director for Campaigning and Advocacy at Compassion in World Farming. He has also spent 5 years working in the center of government at the UK's Cabinet Office.
Owen has led campaigns to strengthen climate change legislation in the UK and European Union and to increase protections for natural World Heritage Sites from industrial pressures like mining and oil and gas extraction. He attended the 2012 "Rio+20" UN Conference on Sustainable Development as a member of the official UK government delegation, and is a veteran of too many UN climate change conferences.
His current focus, with Compassion, is on securing a global agreement on the need for a more sustainable food system that reduces the impact of food production on the climate and restores nature, reduces pollution, improves human health and also greatly improves the welfare of farmed animals.
