Tip* Always hit the armor and weapon rack down by Meph. My son have gotten Tal Rasha's Armor there before.

I watched this video, then ran catacombs a couple times with 225mf and got a shako and a skin of vipermagi. Thanks dude!

Farmed Mephisto hell around 1000 times, didnt get a shako. Watched your video to see if i was doing the right thing and thought, cool i'm doing the right thing. Started up the game, did 7 Mephisto runs and it droppped :) :) :)

Shako could be drop everywhere. there is no magic place. I've drop it 6 times in different places each time. Tristram included.

Few weeks ago found 2 of them. 1 was from a rock in cows the other chaos sanc nearly missed that one

Do not forget all the terrorized zones from nightmare or hell after you reach level 67 can drop a shako as it is an ilvl69 item.

Thank you for your videos, especially the one about why you aren't finding tons of special items. They help casual gamers who aren't really a part of the "culture" of gaming . For some reason, I seem to have the magic touch with Shakos (I've found I think five so far) but I'm still wanting a H-Crest for my Hammerdin.

What i do for my 1st shako is either farm Meph and Andy in hell or when im bored of that i farm Den of Evil, Bishibosh, Rakanishu, Tristram, Dark Wood, Black Marsh and Tower. Since they added Underground passage lvl2 as a lvl 85 area I'd probably just farm that on my way from stony field to dark wood

so far this ladder season i have found two shakos. one was off of nihlthak and the other was off of one of the countess minions. the key (yes key) in both situations was i was just trying to get the keys and not hunt for a specific item in mind. you get rewarded just playing the game.

I got one from Andy and one from arcane sanctuary, can't remember where I got the other one, I'm having great lucky by my standards, this ladder I've found ohm jah and 4x ist, 2nd jah in over 10k hours between d2 and d2r.

I did some 200 Andariel runs in hopes of getting it and nothing, got pretty tired and gave up. I went to tristram to get a leg to do some cows and hit the bed, I on accident hit a few mobs and a shako dropped. I was happy and sad at the same time cos it dropped when I gave up on it. So I think you need to truly give up on an item in order for it to drop :D

You're totally right Phil, that's how the probability goes. When there is a larger universe of options possible to get, the chances to get any single one of them goes down. For example, if you want to get heads out of an universe of options of {heads, tails} that's 1 out of 2 = 50% = 0.5, but if you want to get a 6 out of a six headed dice, that'd be 1 out of a universe of options of {1,2,3,4,5,6}, which translates to 1 out of 6 = 16% = 0.16.

If you have one, an Occulus with an Ist rune is a great option. That's 80% magic find without losing much stats.

I found one for the first time in Travincal a week ago! Really glad to cross that one off

I found my first shako when farming bases with nearly 0 mf (opening the super chest in the pit), and now I have 300+ mf for ages and yet to see another unique shako LOL

That's because you don't need another one. Just have your characters share 😉 They're leaving more room for other uniques/sets for you 😂

Seen a lot of plain Shakos drop in Act 1 Hell but still haven’t found a unique.

I found mine by accident along with a Bone Break charm at the Frigid Highlands on Hell and terrorized.

Mephitso is the best for Shaco and right outside the door on act 4 the one where u could dupe money which I assume is patched only item I haven't found is the blue kraken shield in this game from baal after 2k runs guarantee if you run out of act 4 kill all the Amazon people and the mini boss you'll get it

That's quite accurate. I got my Shako on the way for Pits , dropped by regular monster. Same game got Ber rune from Pits. 👌😁

I've been playing sp for about a year. My paladin is level 95 . I've found two jah, a ber, two vex and an ohm, death fathom, 15% Nightwing, 15%blizz ormus, mara, full tals, etc, but haven't found a shako. I'm still wearing a 3ptopaz helm because all the tarnhelms I've found are 30% or less. So tell me more about how to find a shako...

I can't believe all the years it took me to find different stuff . Especially runes ... glad they increased the drop rate on those years back .

When D2R launched, I found one shako from Meph and one from Cows. On ladder, I found a whole bunch of shakos from everywhere. ALL BLUE AND YELLOW SHAKOS!!!🤬

Watched this out of curiosity, right after i farmed a couple baals for an essence, randomly got a shako lmao

I’ve been playing since it dropped on console and I never found a shako. when ladder started 2 weeks in I found 3 in a day. 2 from Andy one from meph. I couldn’t believe it.

Great video. NM meph dropped it for me the first week D2R came out. Right now I’m looking for HoZ for my Hammerdin. It just won’t drop.

I found two on non ladder not that far apart. First in Trav and the second in the pits. No luck on ladder as of yet

Thanks Phil for making this so many have a hard time finding the Shako It's certainly a game changer for Magic finding. I really didn't get to magic much until I was gifted and unidentified Shako. A good group of guys gave me It he likes your stuff his KZreadr name Is Winderguard. So I appreciate you always helping out us less savy players I'm an old veteran coming back after years of playing original D2.

In my 17 years playing the game (on and off) I’ve found 2 shako’s. One of which was eth. But I’ve found a total of 5 mang-songs between all my accounts 😂

For me it droped from Andariel on Hell, while i was looking for Gheeds :D

get a merc with kelpie snare or that other -50% slow polearm and mephisto/andariel are super slow (also cast time is slowed) and no danger anymore, especially early on very good

I read that as well. You keep it as a normal item so your merc can’t kill dolls while you’re teleporting to Mephisto. It’s just for like you said the slow rate.

I just got one on my Single player HC Sorc from Hell-Duriel FIRST KILL! literally freakin out!

Anyone have issues with weapon swapping keeping the spell on your bars, but the spell is un-useable?

Finally found one in Tamoe Highlands : It turned out to be ethereal :( I could just cry

I spent an hour and half farming coldcrow for a gul early game to get 100mf and just rocked that until I could build more without losing anymore kill speed

Ihad a Orb/Hydra sorc since I started her in SP, switched to Meteor for my mf runs as i found hydra wasnt killing enemies fast enough. I try to set my difficulty to 3 or 5, so hydras werent working as well.

one of you streamers needs to do a video about what happens come the end of ladder.. ie what happens to the toons you made? can they be transferred or are they deleted? what about the gear? bliz says that you can use the new ladder runewords.. does that mean we can keep the ones we make? or we can just make them outside ladder after its over? and generally what happens, timings and whatnot.. THANKS for all the content

The chars will become non-ladder chars in your account just like the others. The items will be in a shared stash, but will only be removable (ie you cannot put them back in the ladder stash but can go into your non ladder shared stash). You will have the entirety of the next ladder season to remove those items before they are deleted. Runewords will remain as the new ladder only runewords become makeable in non ladder after the season. Hope that helps.

Found mine on a champion maggot in the maggot Lair, act 2.

Found a baby shako pretty early, slammed a p topaz in it. Shako next ladder when I'm not on the road all the time

best advice to finding anything---he said it there--- stop looking for specific items, loot the 85 areas-- you eventually find everything you need

Meph somehow managed to walk around the moat when i was avoiding the cold immune council 😐

That’s cool that your grandson got you into the game. I’ve been playing since it came out and maybe I’ll play with my kids when they get older. Lvl 85 area is an area with the highest monster level meaning that any item in the game can drop. These are the best areas to farm if you are looking for the rarest gear like Griffons.

Pallys put one point into charge and vigor and if your poor find some 20-40%+ run/ walks and a stealth helped me get around until was able to start running trav and chaos. Have a rejuve on hand incase you charge into trouble...

I actually found it on my 1st run with my hydra orb sorc.

Be carefull with these dropcalculators and go with ingame experience instead. However, there is no doubt that Andariel is the safest, fastest and easiest way to obtain a shako. Once i did 2000 andy runs for Soj farming with about 350 MF and got not less than 17 shakos during those runs...took me about two months to complete. Both Baal and Meph are also, statistically, good places, but they are far away from wps and the road to them is very dangerous for HC players. If you need Gheeds, Viperskin and Shako ...you go Andy :)

@ZyklonBeast i know its old but the sweet spot for mf is 350. do not buy these youtubers that say "i ran xxxxxx for 12 hours with 24802482480 MF and this is what i found". What you want is a balance of good dps with decent mf. 350 is the sweet spot for that, you do high damage so you clear it fast and your mf is at a decent level. above 350, there is actually diminishing returns. For instance, you will actually see a higher frequency of tiers other than unique in drops meaning you have less chance of dropping the unique despite having more mf. If you want more uniques, 350 mf is the way to go because you get good balance of damage + speed and less frequent bad magic loot. Another bonus is more socket bases will drop the lower ur mf is (obviously if you are socket base hunting, you would use 0 mf. but sometimes its nice when ur mf running and a good socket base drops "i'll save that for later" kind of deal)

also do the armor and weapon racks at mephisto for monarch drop

I found my first Shako last week after about 500 Meph runs. Not from Meph, but a random chest on the way! 🤦‍♂

Under rated: grizzies armor with 3 p topaz. Life, MF, defense. I ran that on my SP sorc for a long while doing hell meph

If you just starting the game much easier to find a 3 socket armor than 4. So having 3 perfect topaz armor is a great start on normal and nightmare imo

In my single player i found 3 shakos before i got my tal armor and i think i had 4 shakos before arach lol

I've got 3 shako drops. 1 in hell cats level 2 on the way to Andy. 1 from Hell Andy. And 1 from Hell Mephisto.

Found 1 Hell Andy quest, second in the river of flame.

I wish it was easier to find older videos for LOD anyone know if this translated to v 1.14?

Can anyone tell me if you can make a Tri-elemental Sorceress? If i had to make one, i would pick Frozen Orb, Fire Wall and Nova with max Lightning mastery and a few points into fire and cold mastery. And your standard, Static Field, Warmth, Teleport, energy shield and Frozen Armor.

I need shako, arachnids mesh, and viper magi … been 75% ass grinding for about 6 mos to a year The list of stuff I have found (ssf on p1) instead of these three things makes no sense

Terrorized nightmare andariel. Can drop shako and a multitude of other good gear for endgame. Easy tp farm too.

I found my only shako and make socket on it and put Perfect topaz lol..

I found mine whilst raising skeletons in cold plains, players one from bishiboshi 😂😂

Google kept slaying and hit Sweet Phil's add revenue with enhanced crushing blow. In other news, gambling for the gull dagger on a lvl 11 character costs the average person less than 2 million gold. Its +100 mf on its own and easy enough to swap weapons for the killing blow.

General you do want to farm countess right off the start to get basic runes for low runewords and some levels. After that I would only ever stop to level before doing ancients quest in act 5. The first place worth farming at all is act 1 nightmare andarial. In my opinion.

I foand Shako in a chest. That was a great suprise.
