Dividends are what got me into investing in the stock market. The thing to me is, if you invest and have other income outside of dividends then you will be able to live off dividends without selling. Which means you can pass that on to your kids which will give them a leg up in life. After a terrible 2022, shell-shocked financial backers have a lot to think about and losses to recover from. An expansion report and a wealth of other data did little to alter assumptions that the Central bank would likely keep raising interest rates regardless of whether the economy slows down. Stop looking for a solution that doesn't exist and invest more money. Major indexes booked their worst yearly performance since 2008 thanks to drivers like the recession, war, hiked interest rate and inflation which so far doesn’t seem to be easing off, so I’m left wondering what 2023 has in store for us investors, I’ve been sitting on over $745K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy or do I wait?

Debt is always cheaper than equity by opening up more opportunities. You should put any expense that you plan on paying for anyway on a credit card. When you pay off the credit card, you increase your credit score, which then in return lowers the cost of future debt.

If you can't afford real estate, think about REITs [Real Estate Investment Trusts]. If you get a broker or financial advisor [planner] - fiduciary, fiduciary, fiduciary. There are an infinite number of ways to invest, you need to find what you feel comfortable with. I take ideas from many sources, my blend: long term investing aka somewhat "Passive", medium(+) risk [growth & income], I believe in diversification and dividends. I lean more towards asset classes, these generally follow the benchmarks. High Risk takers aka "Active" will disagree with me; we all disagree on something. And finally I focus on an Aggressive Growth Mix. There are many great resources on KZread: The Plain Bagel, and the Swedish Investor [take away from financial books] + many many more.

Many thanks. Excellent video and very valuable advice. I learnt most of this information from reading the Rich Dad Poor Dad books.
