Finally | Upgrade Polish Army Borsuk IFV Infantry Fighting Vehicle - How Powerful is Borsuk BWP 2023.
The Borsuk is fitted with a remotely-controlled turret, which was developed under the ZSSW-30 program. It is armed with a 30 mm cannon. There is a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun and two Spike LR anti-tank guided missile launchers.
Poland has more than 1,200 BMP-1 in service and wants to replace them with modern armored vehicles Polish companies consortium led by Huta Stalowa Wola should receive a contract from the Ministry of Defense of Poland regarding the supply of domestic Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles.
The baseline Borsuk is fully amphibious. On water it is propelled by two waterjets. It can cross lakes and rivers afloat.

A small correction. As some people mentioned before, the New Floating Infantry Fighting Vehicle "Borsuk" (Badger) is not based on the K-9 howitzer chassis. It is based on a new much lighter domestic platform that makes Borsuk weight go below 30 metric tons (about 28T) with an ability to equip with additional armor (for 30+T heavy, non-floating version). With the signing of an agreement with the Polish Government (yesterday or so) for more than 1,000 vehicles, HSW (Huta Stalowa Wola, the manufacturer) will start the mass production of the Borsuk IFV this year, ramping up production in 2023-2024. The correct information though is that the K-9's much larger howitzer platform/chassis, which can sustain 50+ metric tons, WILL be actually used in another project, the development of a brand new HEAVY IFV for the Polish Armed Forces, also fitted with the ZSSW-30 remotely controlled turret. The decision was made after the previous strong candidate, the heavy IFV AS-21 "Redback" prototype, failed field tests in Poland. The development will start this year. The prospective non-floating heavy IFV will be used mainly by Polish heavy armored brigades in combo with the M1A2 Abrams MBTs, very much in the same role the Bradley IFV is currently being used by the U.S. Army. By comparison, the floating Borsuk IFV will be (also) used in combo with lighter (than Abrams MBT) K-2 Black Panther MBTs by Polish armored brigades active in more demanding terrain (lots of swamps and water terrain) where the Abrams MBT might be simply too heavy to be used effectively.

As someone already noted - the Polish Army has ordered 1,400 Borsuk IFVs (1000 IFV Borsuk / Badger or in old polish Jaźwiec ;) and 400 accompanying vehicles on the same frame: medical, support, commanding and others). With a weight of just 28 metric tons, it's oferts a very good antymine protections - compared to tanks like Leopard A5 or older wersion of Abrams. It also has a polish, very good, acurate and sofisticated unmanned tower ZSSW-30 (with a ATK Orbital Mk.44 Bushmaster II and two Spike LR) - at the moment it's seems the most advanced unmanned tower in the world. Above this - Badger can swim :) With a speed 10 km in water it's a fastest water IFV in the world to ;). Also - with a price of 6,6M.$ - compare this to 17M.$ cost of germand IFV Cougar, it also cheapest in his class. (also it's important to note, that Cougar has recently a lot of problem - from around 50 bought, 50 get...broken, when german army start some full scale training). Polish Army want to finish contract in 2036, to replace all old-fashioned BWP-1 IFV, already sended to Ukraine :) With 1400 machines - it's the bigest order of IFV for western armies after fall of USSR in 1989...They will cooperate wiht newly signed tank - K2 Black Panther. Poland already signed a contract with South Corean company for 1000 of these. (most of them will be produced in Poland - as K2 PL - with some changes in design demanded by Polish Army). Also - Poland want to create new, heavier (around 40 metric tons) version of IFV, based on K-9 platform with implementation of polish unmanned tower ZSSW-30 and better protection. Polish goverment already signed a contract to start work on prototype (with same company who created Badger - it should speed the whole process). They want 400 of them by 2034, as support IFV for already signed 250 Abrams M1A2 in newest version SEPv3. (also - Poland will get 116 used M1A1 - ex US MC tanks) As a polish patriot i'm very proud that Poland will have the biggest panzer army in European Union in 10 years. Even - biggest as whole - with very good, battle tested, polish self-propelled hovitzer Krab, already signed F-35, Patriot and Himars system and (planned) 300 000 troops. It will cost us around 4% GDP yearly, but thru the history we know how costly independent can be...It's better to pay with money then blood...

Mine protection is excellent in Badger even better than in K2 tanks (yes really, badger can survive tm-72 mine with its kinetic shield placed underneath, k2 can't). Contract for 1400 signed - just in, no details. It includes variants to be developed. With that - Poland will have A LOT of 30mm armed vehicles with ATGM's. Considering that wheeled Rosomaks will be modernised with exact same turret. If all these deals are completed then no - Russia has no hope of invading Poland without extensive use of nuclear weapons. Regardless of involvement from rest of NATO. Since at least on paper PL land force will be a very scary army. Possibly strongest in Europe excluding Russia and quite a match for it in defensive scenario.
