finally telling you *that* gap year story! || Solo Interrailing Storytime 🙈

IF THIS REACHES 10K LIKES, I'LL MAKE GAP YEAR STORYTIMES A SERIES 🌟 tell meeee!
oof. yes. enjoy pretty much FaceTiming me like a friend as i RAMBLE about my internal adventures. This is a long video so I thought I'd put some timestamps, but hey. I invite you to enjoy the ramble:
- up to 2:36 - disclaimers! and overview of me solo travelling at 18!
- 2:36 - 5:00 setting the scene 😉 which city this was in, who was around, how I was feeling etc
- 5:00 - newwwww details about the scenes I showed you in the vlog! The romance. The surprises. The rooftop. The travelling.
- 13:50 - life lesson and retrospect!
- the end: a cute clip of me after making out with this guy all night by the lake hehehe
ENJOY! Tell me your travel romance adventures, if any. If you enjoyed this, I have many, many more stories (and travel things, oops) to share! Let me know ;)

Jade :: when I was in the south of France solo traveling I saw a really cute french guy at a bus stop, and I went to great lengths to get him my number (the bus arrived before I could) and we eventually had a lovely evening together but I was leaving for paris the next day so I said au revoir forever but he kept texting me french things like “now that I know you exist I don’t know how to go on living my life” etc so on my last day in europe I booked him a spontaneous flight to paris and we spent the night galavanting around town and kissing at the Eiffel Tower. Eventually we got married, steps away from where we met. SOLO TRAVEL LOVE STORIES THAT ARE CINEMATIC DO ACTUALLY HAPPEN EVERYONE! So once quarantine is lifted go out there and see who there is to meet. You never know who’s waiting at a bus stop for you.

@@thedarkphoenix1640 I'm not congratulating her not losing her virginity I'm congratulating the bravery it takes to talk about it, especially in a society that tends to shame people over "losing their virginity". yes virginity is a load of nonsense especially in a world where not everyone has hetero sex but talking about it to a large platform when people are still judged for it and talking about it in a grown up way with no shame or bragging about it (people esp women are often shamed in both ways) is quite a big thing.

Thank you for this. If anyone is reading this comment and feels like they've never critically engaged with their racial identity and how it impacts their place in the world, head over to my Instagram. I made a highlight where I ramble trying to process everything, but ultimately share some necessary resources. I've just started a workbook called "Me and White Supremacy" by Layla Saad and if you're a white person wondering what you can do, do this. It's a start. Get thinking, get educating, get doing. Donate to charities like NAACP (go match my donation! again, head to IG), Minnesota Freedom Fund, George's family. There is so much work to do and now is not the time for performative sharing or trying to defend your non-racism. I am working to be more actively anti-racist, just as we all should be.

We were in Venice Florence and Rome at the same times, and we met in Florence having similar paths all the way along! We met in Rome again for another night where we just fell for each other. Her name is Mary Jane, she's American, I'm from the UK. We kept in touch, I flew out to see her last December, we're officially a couple, and I'm taking her back to Florence someday! You inspired me to go travelling, you inspired me to push myself and meet new people, and I owe it to you that I met this girl that I now care dearly for. Thank you Jade 💕 I really want her to see this, it would mean the world to help me out 🥺

It’s so hard to break things off with people, even when you’re not in an actual relationship. I’m a people pleaser and I hate upsetting people. It hurts when you do and it hurts when you don’t, so it’s kinda a lose lose in my experience. I’ve learnt a lot of lessons because I had a long distance relationship, it ended 3 years ago and he passed away in a car accident recently, along with 3 other people I care about in the space of a month. It’s hard to balance just wanting to be friends with someone who wants more, if you give more, they get hopeful, but if you give less, you miss them as a friend and it hurts so badly when they’re gone.

Omg my gosh this story was so sweet! Weirdly enough I went through a similar-ish story while on my year abroad where the guy ended up slowly ghosting me so while I didn't come here expecting anything more than a cute story update from Jade, hearing you explain your point of view and how you felt about slowly distancing yourself from someone who you know liked you more than you liked him was really helpful for me to make peace with my past. Thank you Jade & wish you a lovely week

I suggest EVERYONE to take at least a couple of months to travel alone somewhere. It is such an incredible experience to meet travel buddies in the hostels and explore on your own. You really learn how to become independent and how to trust your gut. People might say that taking a gap year will discourage you from going back to school/uni, but that is not true at all! I was extremely excited and motivated after my travels, and I felt more sure of myself in terms of what I wanted to do with my life. Travelling gives you a lot of time for self-reflection

Aw this was so cute Jade! Sounds magical. I have a few stories like this, but this one is kinda funny. It's just...hilariously awkward to me. I went solo travelling in Australia for six months a couple of years ago and there was this really cute guy I met at the hostel I was staying at. This hostel was absolutely incredible, I've never been anywhere like it. It was like we were all just this big family, everyone in the whole hostel knew each other and we'd drink together each night, and every new person who came in we'd welcome and try our best to get to know everyone. Anyway, I thought this guy had a girlfriend and that he was straight...BUT. It turned out this girl he was travelling with was just his friend, and to be honest I think he might have just been curious. He kept sending me these messages after he left the hostel asking if I wanted to meet, and I kind of thought nothing of it, but I invited him round for a night to chill at the hostel. We were on the rooftop and he was just being super flirty with me all night, and I thought he was gorgeous so I was all for it. Later in the night he ended up kissing me in the living room area and all of my mates were there, and although the kiss was great, I just felt awkward making out with this guy in front of all my friends. So I asked if he wanted to go upstairs instead. We went upstairs and literally none of the rooms were free and I didn't know what to do, so stupidly, in the spur of the moment, I was like 'Let's go to the bathroom!', I was kind of drunk, I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, we got in there and it was so bright, like you know when you go into a falafel/kabab place on a night out and it's like the brightest lights ever just glaring down at your drunk self, staring into your soul, sobering you up. So we started kissing, and I slipped on the wet floor and our teeth just clanged together and it was SO. awkward. All of the 'romance' if you can even call it that was just sucked out of the room, and the moment just died a horrible death. He was like 'I'm not feeling this...' and I was like yeah fair enough, and we just went back down to the party and pretended nothing happened. I still laugh about it now when I think about it. So yeah, yours definitely wins! ;)
