***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 2 new videos every week! Wednesday and Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.

My grandparents were farmers and said fences needed to be "horse high, bull strong and hog tight"!

I agree! I love that!! Hey Kevin! We need a t-short! Oh, and my mom loves your t-shirts!
As I watch the two of you I feel that sense of "missing working with my late husband". He's been gone a little over 12 years now. I enjoy watching the two of you.
I live a homesteaders life vicariously through you guys.
We use the loader on our tractor to push down the t-posts.
@menow7851

I think they tried that but their soil is so rocky the T Post would bend. They did use the tractor and a chain gadget to pull out old T Posts.
I wonder if it would help to run cable with a turnbuckle from the gate t-post side to the previous t-post in a “x” pattern to give it a bit more stability. It be low cost to improve the stability of the post.

I have used turnbuckles and cables on screen doors and wooden gates and metal gates. Doing that has always helped. Good idea.🙂

Thinking the same thing. Possibly setting hinged side t pole in concrete.
We'll be working on building a new pig pen in the fall (too hot here right now). Also, our granddaughter is going to have a show pig this year, she's 9. Will be redoing the show pig pen so she can keep it here on our homestead until the youth fair. Thanks guys for everything ya'll do.

It would be interesting to know how many steps you take in a day
What a beautiful view as you walked the first panels down to increase the fence line. The property is lovely!
This must be a wonderful feeling to get started on preparations for the last of the animal moves.
Very very VERY smart REUSING ANYTHING you can!!! I have learned so much from you guys over the last 2 yrs now! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR JOURNEY WITH US!
Raising pigs on a pasture is much nicer than raising them on a concrete slab however you guys have lovely wooded areas I probably would’ve incorporated this into my pig habitat I can understand you were going for a more practical layout on your farm. making the workload more practical and easier to manage but little forestry areas in a pig habitat what does been something they would have loved. The majority of wild pigs live in wooded areas for a reason it is their natural environment and where they’re happiest.
Wow I don't know if you guys got new mics but it was loud 🔊 Hopefully y'all are getting rain this week, we are supposed to get some tomorrow 50/50 chance. Kevin my son went up to work on their trailers for the hunting season and he was shocked at the drought. I think since he went y'all have had some rain. He bow hunts and gun hunts in Mo. so he's wants to move his family up there. However his wife isn't one bit interested in homesteading. He grew up on one but she grew up totally different and cares nothing about what goes in her food, but we love her to bits and pray for her 🙏 You are a blessing to so many people who are starting out. I've done it all myself and am to old and worn out now, but my heart is still right there. I hope the new earth will have big beautiful gardens like Eden had in the beginning, I can hardly wait.
I’m anxious to see Charlie in his new home. Your animals are all so lucky to live on such a wonderful farm.
So happy to see green grass! Praying your weather is cooler and you’re getting more rain! God bless guys! Great plans for the pigs too!
I love your life! I have a smaller version. Just starting with pigs. Learned a lot from you guys on how to do it sensibly and built to work smarter not harder. Long way to go but then I am old, lol, in my 60's. My grandfather was a farmer and my husband's family are farmers. So I had a foundation but you guys and others have guided me back from my city ways to my roots. Thanks, Brenda RN

I’m glad to see that we are not the only ‘60 somethings’ starting our homestead. We are active but age does matter when doing some things. Thankfully we decided not to hurry, it is what it is (to coin an overused phrase!) Good luck to you! We have learned much from these videos also!

It will be so nice to have all your animals in one place.
I appreciate this so much..We are getting ready to close on our 5 Acre Homestead and this will make for a cheaper build of some pig & sheep pens..I'll be making another channel for our homestead so look forward to following Y'alls journey to learn..Keep Crushing It!! My husband carries a gerber multi tool and they have a lifetime warranty. He has only had to use it once in the 40+ years he has had one. You will have to send the tool in but I think the postage was covered too.
Glad you are finally getting some of this rain also because your grass is looking like it’s starting to green back up! If y’all want some trees this fall for those paddocks hit me up! I’d be more than happy to show you our paddocks tree cages that stand up to our IPPs and get you a bunch of Oaks and persimmons to plant out there!
Nice explanation of fencing and gate. Hope it works well for those pig butts!! 😊😊✌✌
I love how you guys think and plan out what you do to make good use of everything with wise decisions.
It would be great if you could add bluebird boxes to the side of the pens furthest away from the poultry. They need the help & you can enjoy the bug controll.
TPosts. First thanks for sharing. As Cattle panel for horned sheep. I started out one on each end with 6 inches of overlap. That DID NOT work well. Sort of like yours but different I still have one one each end and one in the middle. At the next panel they still overlap one 1 inch block and get a tPost. I think this saves tposts and makes a stronger joint. Info not criticism.! PS that Tpost gate hanger is interesting but I would be scared of anything but a 4 foot man gate. I think 8-10-12 etc would bend the post/ not have adequate support. Looking forward to your experience.

I have large breed goats. I overlap the panels I block too. Works well. My pens are 9 years old.
You have a good system going so you can use as much existing fencing as possible. You can't do it all at once anyway. It is so nice to have a break in the weather.
Have you heard of something called a hug ring it's used for fencing I don't know you might want to give that a try or look into it it's for connecting two pieces of fence together maybe that might help you have a great day
Those gate hangers work great. I use them. Great job!
Good to learn about the T-post gate clips ... Thanks for sharing. All the best to you all.
Yes get that done before your house is delivered because I guarantee you’ll have another whole host of chores to do getting it to what you want.
Pliers for tpost wire .... my wife found a 6 inch tube (hollow) that had 3 sized holes drilled across the hollow tube. Slip it long way to wrap it or use the holes. They are small light and awesome. I get that pliers have wider uses...
What a great Team you two make!
Looks great, I am sure every little bit gets closer to completion.
Glad to see things are turning a little green, prayers for rain.
I know you both put a lot of prayer & thought into whatever you are doing!!
I like those cut off pig panels for trellises. I can just push the spiked end into the ground behind peas or tomatoes or cucumbers and not bother with posts.
You two work great together great planning. Finally getting some important things going blessings to to you 🙏 ✨️
We know you guys work hard. Look at those rock star bods. Keep going. We love ya.
Cool t-post gate clip things I’ve been looking for something exactly like that for my chicken coop! Thanks!
Good morning guys can't wait to see all the pigs down there enjoying the grass even if it's for just a bit lol. Keep up the awesome work and God bless you guys and all your endeavors
God bless you and your family in all your endeavors. Love y’all.
Yall have came a long ways from when yall started. Yall look like pros now. Good Bless.
Here in Colorado, some prices in the grocery store did rises a bit but we are now finding our prices dropping on alot of items. As for building supplies, we haven't bought any because of hearing others that have bought have said about prices of wood and such.
Sounded like a lot of rocks were in that wallow spot!
Your channel is easily the number one best channel for homesteading. You have growing planting harvesting of not only plants but livestock in an effort to live your lives free from all the BS. Blessings up to you and your wife and your family.🙏🇺🇸👍
That gate system is slick. Might have to try it myself!
Y'all are awesome! God bless you and yours! I'll def share!
Nice to learn about those t post gate hinges! We never heard of them and immediately have a place we could use green and help save us. Little extra $! Thank you for sharing!
You guys are amazing.. thanks so much for sharing all that you do!
I can hear Charlie now when he sees that pond oh goodie a large pond woolow.
Dang I LOVE that T post pounding machine! Makes it super easy!!! NICE!!!
I just love to watch you guys work .I can remember when we use to do some of that stuff .When I was little my dad would do thing like that for pigs .Thank for sharing with us God Bless you all .
Having a homestead is alot of work. But it is so worth it. I have enjoyed watching you over the last couple years. Hope Kevin's patents are doing well. Keeping you all in my prayers.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY everyone thank you for sharing your adventures and your farm
My Dad made a clip bending tool out of a short piece of 1/4" rebar post with a hole drilled long ways in one end about 1/4". It works better than anything else we've tried. You can drill a hole in the other end to add a carabiner or clip to attach to a belt loop.

I have a few of these I’ve made as well, absolute life savers! They work so fast. Couple tips though, make two of them at least and spray paint them bright orange. Once in awhile the tension from the clip can send them flying off into the grass 😂.
He’s is a very good job a very easy and a nice job of keep up the good work and I will keep watching so have a good day God bless
Great Video - A lot of info! Y'all make a great team - work so well together! Congratulations on getting so many things going forward and especially moving onto the Farm - You will feel so much more settled and not be running yourselves ragged with so much going back and forth between the two properties to care for the Animals and Garden. You still have some work left to do, but it is so satisfying when you can actually SEE things taking shape and being accomplished! God Bless Your Endeavors! 🙏 Cindia in New Mexico, USA. 🇺🇸
Charlie is going to have a gorgeous view! Beautiful property!
A good money maker for you guys would be to sell hanging baskets you can put flowers in them and also vegetables.
A small suggestion or two on the gate. I believe adding a twisty tension wire from the top of the hinge post to the base of the next post over will give a lot of stability and putting a cork screw dog tie down thingy a foot away will let you tension it for when you need to open the gate also. I like the gate brackets even though t posts are a little flimsy. Quick is great a lot of times. 😎
I used hose clamps to attach a small piece of cattle panel to a T post as a gate. Can't wait to try the hate hangers.

I’ve been following you guys for a long time and just took the plunge and put irrigation in our garden this year. It’s been a complete life saver! The plants were happier and so we were without our nightly 1 hour watering. Question for you- now that I’ve had some things die back I don’t need to water them. I can shut the valves off but wondering if I need to take up the drip lines and store them in the barn? They’re kind of stiff. Should they be put up each year or left out? Thanks for all the info and inspiration. We love your videos! I can’t wait to see the new homestead when it’s delivered!
My husband bought me a Leatherman multipurpose tool 15 years ago. I always carry it in my purse and have used it more times than I can count. I also have one in both my desk at work and at home and one in the greenhouse. 😊
Charlie will love his new home. Wow! Remember when you hammered T-Posts?
I love your channel. I have been having phone/internet problems since coming out to visit friends here in Missouri. I can not leave a thumbs up usually. Today is the first time in a month. But I can see stilted videos. Thank you and God bless
Thank you Kevin & Sarah. Good info & nice job. God Bless you all in Love. ( shared to f/b ) Maranatha !
I always look forward to your videos. Especially the ones with baby critters :)
Great progress; thanks for sharing! Many blessings to your family 🤗❤️🇨🇦
Kevin you find the neatest gadgets for everything you are doing. Think about the hanging baskets. They sell really well where I live
We always enjoy your content and your sweet spirits. We Look forward to your posts every week.
Looks like you guys may have got some rain. Seeing some fresh growth in the grass.
Your pens are going to be wonderful. Those gate pins that go onto t posts are awesome! Thanks for sharing those.
Rain is good but it's better at night !
I love watching you two, such an inspiration.
A few minutes here, and there ends with the same results- DONE... Something to look forward to!
I am about tired of zucchini. Still making Salsa and pepper jellies. Everyone loves the Habanero Apricot. New chicken pen, rebreed rabbits, baling hay. Farm life.
Y'all are so well organized! It would be great to see how you plan for what needs doing in one of y'all's future video's!
It's exciting seeing this come together.
Lots to do on the homestead, good job. The gate system likes like a winner. Stay cool and carry on.
That fence post tool makes short work of putting in the t-posts! When we get back to having pigs that will be the first thing to buy! Love and hugs from Maine
Love how well y’all work together!!
Great start to a big job! Everything is progressing nicely! There's always so much to do, even on a small homestead. People don't realize how much that gets multiplied on a larger one!
you can do two diagonal T posts off the hinge side T post for added stability
If you have never been to the Noah’s Ark in Kentucky, I highly recommend it. They have examples built & explain how just Noah & his family could have fed and taken care of so many animals. It was fascinating!

My schedule didn’t allow time for the creation museum. Only had one day so I had to make a choice. Ark Encounter was hands down the best option. It was so interesting to see the possible solutions to problems I wouldn’t have even thought of. Many of them were absolutely brilliant and all so doable with the technology and tools available at that time.
Always interesting. It's good to see you two working together. Great stuff.
Thank you so much for the tip on the panel. God bless
Congratulations looks amazing
🥰 this is so awesome.
Sounds awesome! I am still trying to convince the hubs (Mark) to get pigs and I continue to make a playlist of your pig videos to inspire him!!! I want to eventually buy them from you and implement you processes! ❤️ y’all, your “neighbor” Kristy in WP😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great video. Thank you for sharing. God bless your family and farm.
Thanks for sharing the new product👍
Looking great. Nice weather too.
Bless your hard work. Those pigs are going to be happy there.
I love watching the two of you work together. You make things look so effortless.
I love your planning and execution of those plans, and how you share it all with us. I learn so much from LTH University. Thank you.
I like those gate hangers. When you built the chicken moat you had some cleaver diagonal brackets for strengthening up the posts. Where did you get those? I would like to use those in combination for a gate that will get more use.
Use hog rings for a emergency situation to keep your panels together. Better safe than sorry.
Good Morning! Looks awesome!! Have a blessed week!
I'm glad the grass is greener
Good morning. Very exciting.
Know you are excited to get everything done and have everyone in one place. Did a great job, looking forward to seeing the progress. Have a great week and praying for more rain.
