It took me a while to get everything squared away and return to the road, but the journey and challenges were not in vain. I am super excited to return and equally as grateful for the continued support from all of the old and new viewers! Thank you!

Hooray, Mathew, you're back!!! So good to hear from you! in fact I rode past your street on Columbus yesterday, then turned left in front S. Medford High and then right to JVille. And riding weather has been great too for the past couple of weeks. Wish I'd known what happened to your hand; I would have offered to help. Look, I've been through stuff like this too and, at 67 (a few more years than you have) I just feel fortunate to be able to ride my motorcycle. I sold the Ninja 650 last September to a local, deserving guy from Central Point and now have a Tracer 9GT. Again, if ever you want to ride out to Applegate or even JVille for a Cerebrus coffee, that would be great. No. I'm not a stalker. Just a local rider who shares a similar vibe and philosophy as you. Steve

first time finding your channel, glad you made it through all that shit. I really want to get a bike similar to one that you have, but I am struggling with bringing up the idea of me getting it with my family and people around me especially since in the past they have said no. All of the content I am consuming is just making it harder and harder to not want a motorcycle. I just don't know how I should go about navigating this "situation" I am in and would like a little bit of insight from people who actually do ride a motorcycle and aren't making a guide or a broad youtube video.

This is a very real concern. I had the same situation growing up as well. I also hold a similar stance to a few friends of mine as well and it is all out of love and worry. There is no way to sugar coat it, you do put your life at risk everytime you sit on a motorcycle. It is a risk we take by choice. You have to be mature while riding, be aware of your surroundings and ride within your skill level. Riding is more fun when you come back safe :) just know that the situation is simply because people love you and care about your safety. In my situation, I ended just getting one despite the concerns. I saved some money, took the safety courses that my state offers and bought my first bike. The decision was never really " supported " , but I still paid attention to their concerns. All I can really say is, ride to enjoy the tranquility in it.. dont ride to push your adrenaline. Be responsible while in the saddle, be mature. Dont behave like the dummies punching people's mirrors out because they changed lanes. Understand that you are harder to see because of how small we are on the road. Dont ride to impress others and if you are riding in a group, a mature and good group leader will always, always.. ALWAYS respect the skill level of the most unskilled rider. People get hurt and die when they are either emotional, trying to impress someone, intoxicated or trying to keep up with a group that is going too fast. Not trying to scare you, safety is always #1.

Cool that you are riding again. Is this a new Ninja 650 or was it recovered? What was the situation with the prior bike being taken and how will you be able to prevent it again? I keep mine in a locked garage. If I had to park on the street where I live, it would be gone unfortunately. I see bikes parked on the nearby streets and then sometimes never see them again shortly after, while riding my '21 Ninja 650. Really fun motorcycle for the roads, enjoy!

It is the same one recovered. As for the situation... It was my bad for getting too comfortable and leaving it out. I'm definitely going to be more careful going forward though, but there is really never a guarantee. I was just tired after work and thought it would be alright to leave it out one night and I was wrong. Lesson learned haha. It's all good though :) Are you enjoying the 2021 model? Mine is 2020.

@@MathewUnderwood Thanks. Sorry to hear what happened there. I did find your community post that said they cut the wires on it. That is very good you were able to recover it somehow the next day. I hope they caught the guy. My car, while parked at the college parking lot, was stolen when I was in collage many years ago. Only many months later did authorities find a guy driving it, but I already had another car by then. I put a lock on the wheel all the time now ever since, but not a fun situation, I agree. Thanks, the Ninja 650 '21 is a lot of fun. I've been riding 21 years now, having started on the Ninja 250Rs in 2003. I see you got started on a faster bike, but I bet your 650 is more comfortable overall. Glad you're back to riding and enjoying it.
