On the topic of the "goalpost shifting" regarding Starfield - haven't you seen the conversation around Bethesda itself shift already?! I have! Notice how the dialogue around Skyrim & Bethesda as a whole has slowly changed ever since the MS acquisition? In reality, Skryim took the world by storm when it released, was widely beloved, skyrocketed into the top 10 of all "Greatest Games of All Time" lists, and is still actively played to this day. But when you hear people talk about Starfield, they throw out lines like "it'll be a buggy/horrible mess like Skyrim" or talk about how unplayable & "broken" it'll be, acting as if Skyrim was unplayable, unfun & a total disaster like Cyberpunk... We all know Skyrim had bugs, we all know Skyrim on PS3 specifically had issues, but the game was a *HIT* that people loved! After Fallout 76's launch & MS buying them out, people talk as though Bethesda only ever released unplayable, generic, boring disasters! They're trying to rewrite the narrative on Bethesda & Skyrim itself. It's completely dishonest & stinks of pure COPE.

Every single player Bethesda game since morrowind has had multiple game of the year awards and broke sales records. There all master pieces and if there is one you don't like the fact is there is still no game like it and Bethesda games is the only place to get a bethesda fix. Skyrim was the most beloved of all and its simply the change in mentality as the conflict of interest intensifies within playstation fans.

It's such a ridiculously blatant favoritism against Xbox. It's the "cool" thing to do. Xbox hasn't always helped with a couple of their weird or boneheaded moves but for a vast majority of their decisions they have been making improvements

I haven’t agreed with all their moves, like you said, but I still respect them because of their general treatment of their players. Particularly when they came out with an adaptive controller so disabled folks can play. That was nearly 10 years ago, and other companies are only now starting to jump aboard.

It’s hard for xbox. Take a gander at metacritic reviews some time. You’ll notice a ton of 1.0 reviews on xbox first party and when you click the profiles you’ll see a recently made account that was done solely to hand out 1.0’s to some xbox games or a long history of 1.0’s for xbox games and 10.0’s for playstation. The reverse behavior in xbox’s favor is way more rare.

I completely agree with you games are supposed to be about having fun, enjoying these amazing works of art. Not about what studio made it or who’s supporting who or what is it got so many bugs in it glitches and that there’s so much gaming drama, endless shit never seems to end it’s ridiculous. I’ve been with Xbox from day one right from the beginning however, I’ve just spent the last 10 years on the PS4 because at the time I had games I wanted to play. I’ve completely left Sonny network now and have returned to Xbox with the Xbox series. S and X and I love these things they’re fantastic. I think Xbox is doing wonderful work for the next generation of gaming.

@@lowdistortion I haven't played it in months again how does that refute what I said? The gameplay of halo was great, smooth and new some of the best gameplay I've felt in a fps since Titanfall 2. The story was a massive improvement over halo 5. I loved the open world aspect, reminded me of halo CE. Now they added co-op finally so that's sweet. All the other stuff multiplayer, live service, all the crazy prices of stuff that's where they're struggling luckily I could care less about that aspect of the game I only play halo for the story.

If Xbox wants to kill these rumours/narrative, then they need to start releasing games and stop talking about them. The problem with modding on consoles is that if you have to reset your console, even by not resting saves and apps, you loose all your mods and messes the saves up as the mods are no longer available. This has happened on Skyrim and Fallout games on XB using mods. It's all fine until you might have to reset your console for whatever reason.

I wouldn't care if they dropped all of the games at once Xbox needs to give people a reason to play the XSX I don't think a game has come out yet that really pushes the system. Remember how Gears 3 pushed the 360 to the point where the X1 played the same game better without a patch... Miss those days

Rand you're completely right about people saying that if Xbox scores low on future games, people will say it will not count. If Xbox would have delayed Halo a year, they would have had a great 2022. The extra time for content and polish would have solved all game's issues.

Doubt that. The game is bare bones garbage that is basically that metriod prime game for the Nintendo ds but with better graphics and multiplayer. Nothing innovative or next gen. A delay of a year wouldn’t of changed that. For xbox, im only excited about fable, nothing else ive seen from them looks next gen. Hopefully that trend wont follow with fable

Yep. He first heard the rumor... and speculated. Then he looked into it a bit more and confirmed that yes, its 100% bullshiz.

The Starfield/Redfall release issue isnt just those two being back to back there is another major release on June that could also be a gamepass release and that's Diablo 4. There is a chance that the Activision buy could be finalized by then. So if June is Starfield release date you would Have Redfall, Starfield and Diablo 4 all landing on top of each other.

you are right. WHen it was mention that Sony let 150 engineer help with callisto protocol, the ponies were claiming this game is a Sony game and because of Sony that why it will be the best game 0f 2022. Saying Sony has done it again. The make the best games. WHen the ratings came out and it was bad, they quickly said Sony did not help much on the game. they just let them use their motion capture studio. The goal post is on wheels always moving.

Kinda funny how it is gonna be Xbox Game Pass' best year... When they didn't start by giving us an early month drop. Just Stranded Deep. I heard something about an old Street Fighter being added but haven't seen anything yet

I'm ok with the delays but MS needs to do whatever they can to make sure their games release on time from now on even if it means outsourcing most of the work like Sony does with their 1st party studios. I mean ND had help from 13 external studios and 2100+ developers and it still took 6.5 years to just get the single player campaign out the door. The MP mode still hasn't released 2.5 years later.

Rand, PlayStation is the de facto console for the games media. Xbox we never get it’s fair share of media coverage.

As someone who has always had both Sony and Microsoft consoles every generation...I have always preferred the Sony experience...this is the first gen that I think series X is just a much better experience as a console and service than what Sony is offering. Granted Sony has more unique exclusives the ease of use, discord integration and insane value of gamepass I keep telling friends who couldn't get a PS5 just get a series X you won't be disappointed.

Regarding the Fable rumour. I would laugh my arse off if the game was also a '1st half of 2023' release. If xbox do run a showcase this month or February, that would be the icing on the cake, and PS fanboy salt would be exquisite.

Well, the rumor itself sounded stupid to begin with. I mean, it literally said that the ForzaTech version of Fable was being shelved, "never to be seen the light of day"... and that the new version, using UE5, was starting to be rebuilt "from scratch" and somehow, would be releasing in late 2024? (so one year and 10 months or so?) A lot of people just called BS on that part alone... and then they started noticing that both Turn 10 and Playground Games had been hiring, and were still putting up new job listings, for developers to work on Fable using ForzaTech engine. So yes, the "rumor" was specifically created out of thin air because it played on 1. the general lack of knowledge most casual observers might have with the games industry & Playground Games and 2. people overhyping UE5 for everything and having a general sense of "well, i guess some Xbox games are having development struggles... so maybe this one is too?" (basically, its a great piece of propaganda)

Wonder why no one talks about Sony games dlc have an expiry date bought game of the year Spider-Man for the code that unlocks all the dlc to be out of date?? That’s absolute bull crap I’ve used 360 codes or early Xbox one codes on my series x that worked perfectly fine.

Even if the future of xbox is great I am still curious what that road map was to start this generation. Outside of Bethesda games (deathloop, ghostwire, Redwall and starfield) from December 2021 (halo) to March 2023 (I'm assuming for Forza) there hasn't been much. I don't even think the start of the generation was bad. First we got the next Gen update for Gears 5 which is a gorgeous underrated game, then it was quiet, but fall 2021 we got psychonauts 2, flight simulator, forza horizon and halo. It's been quiet ever since from Microsoft game studios. Pentiment, horizon dlc and Grounded 1.0 is what we got. 2 things can be true. The future is great but for like 16 months xbox has let us down. Again what was that road map. Really everything was delayed with no back up plan, both Sony and Nintendo have had continuous releases in that time with games still lined up for this year. We can't act like that doesn't matter.

I pretty much agree it definitely was a quiet 2022 from Xbox 1st party. however I think with gamepass it kinda negates that I was still busy playing tons of gamepass games even with the lighter year from Xbox. Then you factor in they had a great 2021 winning publisher of the year I'm not too mad over 2022. They just gotta deliver in 2023 and keep up the momentum, sometime this year Activision blizzard will close then imo Xbox is off to the races

@Jgg hopefully. Sounds like the Activision deal will get done before the summer. Just saw that Microsoft plans on going through with it regardless of FTC decision and force them to challenge in federal court. Which most likely means the FTC will give in but we'll see.

The planned 2024 release pretty much gave it away as complete false, Like somehow the game expected in 2024 at the earliest was somehow being rebuilt and delayed to release in 2024? Who would believe that. Though Jez didn't help matters when he commented on how despite being on 4Chan he wouldn't be all that surprised it true, I think that gave this rumour more legs, even thou it was just a thought and not confirmation, wouldn't even have been surprised if articles got written about Jez leaking it, I even saw a reply implying it was Jez who made the post on 4Chan.

I'm actually wondering when we'll get solid release dates for Replaced, Benidict Fox, Redfall, Lies Of P, Starfield, Silksong and Avowed. Thanks Rand 😊

None of the big 3 have their backs against the wall, Microsoft has to much money, Sony has the market share, and Nintendo has its proven 1st party bangers that always sell millions. I would love to see all 3 in a dire situation because that’s when they do their best work.

Sometime in the next 6 months that's what they said at the showcase and it seems like they're following thru. I'd guess March tho. Besides only starfield? I'm pumped as hell myself for it but they have a ton of games lined up this year... Forza motorsport, redfall by arcane one of the best studios around, potentially hellblade 2 at the end of the year! Not to mention all the day 1 gamepass games like stalker 2, atomic heart etc you definitely want an Xbox for those unless you got an expensive PC which I'd say yeah sell it lol

How many times Microsoft have lied to us ? I been hearing since 2013 wait until next year.

Its quite simple why Xbox always is signaled out thats for the simply fact they havent proven themselves yet. And yes they have made a lot of positive changes, but that doesnt mean they have proven themselves/fixed their reputation. Also the fact you always got to wonder if a third party actually release on Xbox is a reason why many dont want to make the jump, and Xbox hasnt done much yet of the promises of approaching regions outside the US differently then the North American region. For the few things that go well you always have a decent amount of huge screw ups, its like Jez sad. Xbox needs to perform consistent over a longer peroid of time. Though the rumom or Fable was nonsense Im more worried that Playground have come out its made for a "modern audience", which to me makes it hard to believe Fable will be Fable.
