FINALLY! 2022 Nissan Frontier Detailed Review & Drive
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Finally, the Nissan Frontier redesign is here! This next generation 2022 Nissan Frontier pickup is better in almost every way and retains the practicality and simplicity of the former Frontier. The latest Frontier V6 with 310 HP carries over and that's a good thing. Interior space is similar but the exterior dimensions grow by about 5'' in length to give it a more aggressive and substantial look. This top end 2022 Frontier PRO-4X has several available options to load this price north of $44k..quite. abit more expensive than the last Nissan Frontier I tested. All things considered, Nissan did a nice job with this 2022 Frontier inside and out, without alienating typical loyal midsize truck buyers. Is it enough to threaten the Tacoma's stronghold on the market? I feel like it is, although only time will tell if this Frontier can be as reliable and sturdy as the last one!

Y'all are amazing for being here, thanks for watching! What do you think of this new Frontier? I feel like Nissan played it fairly safe but still did enough to be a strong competitor. Leave your thoughts below!

I think they hit the nail on the head for the price point it's drastically cheaper then it's competition, I'm going to test drive one as soon as it comes out
A lot of channels uploaded this car’s review at the same time, but we watch Nolan’s..cuz he is the man.

Thank you for being here!
Just bought a 23 Pro-4X and coming from a 2020 TRD Pro 4R, this corners much flatter. And much less nosedive. Really liking my new truck!
I have been watching frontier review vids all morning and your detailed review is the best one by far. I learned way more than all of the others combined. Subscribing for sure.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
That color looks great 😊 The new overall design is very well done. Nolan you always pick the best looking models in the bunch.
Phenomenal review video. Currently driving a 2012 Frontier I've owned for 7 years and I still love it. But this all new redesign is freaking awesome. Nissan crushed it, what a great looking truck.
Great review. Picking mine up tomorrow. Pretty well the exact truck you tested. It should be awesome👍🏻
Love your reviews bro, and Frontier did a good job updating this truck from decades old to years old tech. Price point matters, and this is going to be a good long lasting tough little truck.
This is probably the best review I've watched, kept me inclined to what I was watching the entire time and gave me a breaker veiw of all the interior and exterior features, the only thing I still haven't heard in any of the review videos is the fender premium 10 speaker sound system. I would love to get an idea of what it sounds like before I go to a dealership and get the full effect when they start selling them.
Great job love the front end. I had a Ford Maverick ordered, but ended up buying the Nissan Frontier Pro-X.
this new frontier is by far the best truck in this segment now. nissan really hit it good with this
This truck looks perfect!
I know I'm a little late to the party commenting but having just treated myself to a new Frontier 4x4 crew cab for my 65th birthday, better late than never lol. Back in the late 80's, I bought a new 1986.5 original Nissan Hardbody 4x4 manual. It was a fantastic truck. This new redesign intrigued me so I went and drove one and the rest is history, pun intended. I'm loving all the new tech, and that 310hp isn't bad either. It's all I could want in a truck. Great review Nolan.
Great review man! I really like the redesign. I like the pro 4x, but I would like to see the sv crew cab with the 6ft bed. Keep up the good work!
I like it. I recently bought a new 2021 Tacoma but if this had come out a bit sooner, I would have given it some very serious consideration.
I’m a big Nissan fan so of course I love it
Bought a new 22 frontier pro-x in this tactical green with the lava cloth seat such a great truck you wont be disappointed.
Good review, nice & thorough but I was really hoping you'd talk about the sliders/running/boards/steps that on that unit a bit..
I drove both, bought the Nissan hands down. No regrets. Drives much better.
Loving it.
Keep them coming Man! Great content!

Nice looking little truck
Great review
Great review!
I have a 2006 LE Frontier 4×4 4.0L and I love it but she's getting old and it's time to start to look for something new. I love everything about this new truck it's so much like my current one other then the engine and the only thing I don't want to give up is my actual key. Everything else is exactly as the old generation with some modern upgrades that I love. Thanks for the videos this definitely let me know that its a good truck can't wait for the full release in Canada so I can build one
Been considering a TRD offroad but I’m definitely buying a pro 4X as soon as they hit the lot. This ticks every box I can think of and looks amazing to me.

I have the 2019 TRD Sport long bed. My old truck as a Frontier SV. Great truck, but very dated. Now that I have the Taco, I can't say that I'll buy the PRO-4X. Not at that price. It was a good truck, but compared to the Tacoma.....just a different class. Now.....I'd be lying if I said I'm not temped to go back.....but ....I'm just reluctant somehow. Can't explain it.

I had a 2020 TRD Offroad and I absolutely hated that truck. The problem was the terrible driving experience. It had the most uncomfortable seating position of any truck I've ever owned and the drive line was unrefined with bad vibrations above 50 mph. I had the long bed, so it may have had something to do with the elongated drive shaft. In any case, I hated driving that truck, so I sold it after just 8 months of ownership. Before that I owned a 2016 Frontier Pro4x and I thought I was taking this huge leap forward buying a TRD Offroad, but even as old as that Frontier platform was, it still drove 10x better and smoother than the Tacoma. I've been without a truck since I sold the Tacoma last year so I'm definitely excited to get a new Pro4x. I'll be special ordering mine whenever they start accepting factory orders. All the Pro4x's I've seen on dealers lots have a bunch of silly pre-installed accessories and I'm not about to waste a bunch of money on overpriced crap I don't need. I'm willing to wait to get exactly the spec I want.
Love this truck and love your reviews.

Thanks for the review, I’m going for Crew Cab SV 4x4
I had a 2018 Frontier SV that got totaled. It was a great truck but old school. I like everything about the new one. Im buying a Pro 4X loaded as soon as I can find one
Good stuff
Of all the reviews I’ve watched on this new frontier, this is the first I have noticed the strange location of the wheel wells in the bed of the truck. They are up against the front of the bed. Looks funny.
Good review, I really appreciate what Nissan has done - a mix of old and new. The designers get an A for the exterior - very chiseled and modern design, which should age well. As you note, no vehicle is perfect, but the Frontier is a compelling choice in this segment and welcome competition for the Taco.
Love the color
I would 100% take this over the Tacoma. This seems like it drives like a true pickup should!

I'm glad they nailed the new design. We'll be stuck with it for the next 20 years.

lol no kidding - nissan rep here and I agree!
first, thanks for the review, this is the only one i have been able to find. having said that, im so glad i didnt wait for this. a few months ago i bought a ram 1500 and it makes this (and most mid sized trucks) look like a joke and an insult. seriously, for the same 46K you can buy a brand new ram 1500 with mayyyyy more features than this and the interior is actually an extremely nice place to spend time. to top it off the 5.7 hemi with etorque gets the SAME mileage as the frontier. im so mad at my self i spent the last 15 years in mid sized trucks, granted half tons werent what they are now.
The front bumper air curtains do not need to be a pass-through vent to be functional. The pocket creates the pressure zone to affect the air flow over the wheel wells.
6:50 utilitarian is not the word you were looking for bro🤣
About time they make it look different it's been looking the same for years.
"Imitation is the best form of flattery"! - Toyota Tacoma
Nissan should have went ahead and added a turbo for the premium model just to make an example of all it’s mid-size competitors. A lot of Tacomas and Jeeps would have been traded in on it’s release.
I love this truck! The front just looks so long
I’m going to buy one as soon as I find one that’s extended cab. I don’t need the full four doors and would rather have more bed space.
My 2015 Frontier had a terrible transmission, one reason why I dumped it after 10 months. I'm in the market again, and I'll look at the Frontier again, but I am a bit leery of it right now. TY for the info.
I owned a previous generation Frontier and now have a Titan. Loved my Frontier, my biggest complaint was the soft brakes. How did the brakes feel on your drive? Feel pretty responsive or still have that soft feel through the pedal?
How did they get away with no stop/start on this? Love not having that “feature”

Thanks for the review. Been watching a lot of them lately and yours has been the most detailed to date. Disappointing the cameras are still the same quality I’ve seen on a Nissan for quite a few years. They really need an upgrade IMO. Also, wireless charging without wireless CarPlay is a miss. I’ve owned a couple Frontiers over the years and a couple Titans, I’m pulling hard for Nissan.

Sorry, but that camera is wayyyy better then the one on my '19 Titan. It's not HD but it's higher quality then before!
This truck might be better than the Tacoma idk man, definitely runner up when it comes to price.

no it definitely passes the tacoma for the best truck in this segemet
I am going to trade my Tacoma in for a PRO4X as soon as they are available.
Good that it has key colored handles.
Good review! No auto stop start and no electric power steering are a big plus for anything on wheels. No bottom bed Utili-Track, a foot e-brake, and no DESERT RUNNER name anymore😲 LIKES: gas struts for the hood, damped tailgate, available remote start, and an updated interior and some advanced features. DISLIKES: no 8-way power seat, no power rear window, and no 4WD auto.
@greghale717
2 жыл бұрын
Power rear window should be standard is the truck has one!
It's a shame they have eliminated the utili-tracks on the floor. I use them a lot on my 2006. Lovin' the Army green color. Edit: but the really big shame is no more manual transmission. That might well push me over to the Taco. Love my 2006 Frontier manual transmission.
Airbags make telescoping steering wheels sometimes problematic. I'll go with giving up telescoping steering wheels for better airbag safety every day of the week here in sw Florida.
Nissan should build an suv based on this platform to compete with the 4Runner. Maybe bring back the Xterra name.
So ridiculous about the steering wheel not being telescopic. Also the front seats should have more adjustability and should be ventilated as well in this high trim level. I must say this truck looks bad ass and now that it’s mainly me, the wifey and the dogs, the back seats won’t get used much. I can’t wait to drive / look at one. The only drawback is that I’m a musician and I heard that Apple play is not wireless? I’d have to plug the phone every time I get in the car to hear my playlist??? That might be the deal breaker for me. I’m always in and out of my car. Great review by the way!
The Frontier is an excellent no nonsense truck. I would take this over the Tacoma any day. The Tacoma is underpowered and shifts weirdly to save gas. The Frontier drives and shifts like a truck should.

You sound like you have alot of experience for a 12 year old
when does it come out finally? im in need of a new truck.
When can you buy the truck and when are they gonna stock up?
Remember everyone looks don't make them run, don't buy a unibody truck, which is an SUV, which means you are all about the comfort, anyone who buys a true Truck, it about how it can perform in any condition!! The choice is yours!!!
Looks good but hate that colour. Non-telescoping wheel is a deal breaker and stupid omission. I’m tall, I like adjustability. Thanks for the review
I like this Nissan the color and the no start stop crap and no electronic steering I would like to buy this truck instead of the Ranger or Tacoma .
You didn't mention if the turning radius is better with this generation, one of the most complained about things in the 2nd gen was turning radius.
What is the next color comes out??

Do you know if the turning radius is better than the previous model?
@tenncutt
2 жыл бұрын
According to my salesman it is. He had me pull into a parking lot and turn around but i had never driven an earlier one so cant really say. Having other 4 wheel drive trucks, it seemed fine to me
I like the previous generation design better lol. This one just looks like they tried too hard to change it. Looks like a Tacoma too. I guess I could get a good deal on the previous version before they go obsolete??
No trailer hitch?
Rudolph the red nosed Nissan frontier
Why are the payload capacities for trucks sold in America so low ? I have a previous generation double cab Frontier (called Navara here in Europe), 4x4, and it has a payload capacity of 2300 lbs. It has leaf springs in the back, but the new model has coil springs and hasn't lost any payload capacity, so it's not that. And it's the same with Ford Ranger and other mid size trucks sold here, one metric ton of payload capacity is standard. Why do they rate them so low in America, different safety standards or what ? What's the point of buying a truck that cannot actually carry load ?
It's crazy that the next generation Colorado is going to have 310 horsepower 391 foot pounds of torque out of a 2.7 L turbo motor on Z71 & trail Boss models.. that's going to put the new boosted Tacoma the New frontier the newER ranger all to shame... At least on paper 🗞️... The ZR2 430tq!!
They're ready to sell a few to some park rangers at least.
If you were going to pick Tacoma or Frontier which would you choose?!
I like the truck. Only thing I don't like are the plastic things that droop down from the headlights. Looks like something Toyota would design, which is not a compliment.
What you didn't mention was that the Pro X and Pro 4x do not come in a King Cab.
@PrimeAutotainment
2 жыл бұрын
You’re right, that’s a serious shame. They just don’t care much about single or extended cab versions anymore which is where the most utility can be with a longer bed. Thanks for pointing it out!
