I think you’re one of the first to actually successfully swap a N54 into a E36 with all the hassle of the wiring. I’ve seen a lot of threads online where people get caught up in the wiring and sell their projects. This is one of the first super documented swaps I’ve seen.

What an incredible build! Really. I like the mission statement on the website which tells it like it is. When I see this crashed E92 I don't understand how the owner could have just sold it off and not repaired it BUT I'm much more happy that our wonderful host on this channel took said engine out of that crashed E92 and used it for all of our benefit! THANK YOU! I have a 2002 330CI swapped out with the entire drive train and interior suspension etc from a 2006 M3 Competition. However even though the drive train has fairly low mileage as of now the Chassis has 68350 Miles on it and the Vanos has been done catless headers have been installed and It runs like a deer. (It's an old person thing sorry) the chassis which now has over about 250,000 Miles on it and a few more years of salt and mud (which I did the rear subframe plates and all of the bushings) is not happy. The previous owner had decided to Plasti Dip the car white a few years before I bought it. Having seen a few tiny bubbles in the paint before he did this he scratched the paint away down to the bare metal right at the rear quarter panel where it meets the lower half and left it. This was of course covered up by the plasti Dip so it wasn't even noticeable when I bought the car. One day I decided to remove the PD (which actually took me over a week to do because he had not put enough of it on to make it peel-able so I was in a PD he11 lol) it was then that I saw the now rusted area of the rear quarter panel. It wasn't too bad I thought and I didn't rush to fix it so it wasn't even looked at for two more years because I just did the cosmetic temp fix of filler, paint and clear. It was after I decided to fix it right that I now find myself facing bigger decisions about what to do next. I opened up that quarter and it had eaten away the entire insides of the car on that side so much that the quarter has a two foot by three inch hole in it and all the way into the trunk! So to make a long story longer I am thinking about putting all the great drive train into an E30 or well I just don''t know. So thank you for the great inspiring videos!!! I am very hopeful now! Sorry for the long boring comment.

Definitely do an E46! I know of a sulev with a bad fuel pump up for grabs. Would it work? 👍👍

Great swap! Easy way to get around inspection is do it in an OBD1 car. Up here in NY it's a visual inspection only. Running into this issue with trying to make an N54 or an M57 pass inspection in an E39 wagon...OBD2 presents some challenges.

Damn that is sick. I think an N54 swapped e36 might be better than turbo’ing the m5x/s5x motor. I think it’s be expensive to replicate the strength, resilience, power potential and how power comes on with the N54 with a m5x/s5x

No way! The n54 was a mistake of an engine. Cars were all going turbo at that time and they had a ton of open deck n52 laying around and they just sent it with a turbo and called it the n54. Hence why I think they had so many failures since the engines foundation wasn’t originally designed around boost?1?’l

….and went with forged internals as an upgrade? Doesn’t make sense. The n54 was well thought out, the implementation was the problem. It’s a good engine if you keep up with the maintenance

What differential did you install? Just ordinary should break at abruptly start.

Love you videos and am doing a swap on my 2011 135i from a n55 to a n54 because they are more available and affordable but am having wiring issue I hope you see this and are able to get back to me you wiring cas3 video on this e36 helped me out a bit but just looking for more help to guide me cause finding good usable info for a swap like this is hard wire/connect diagrams etc

Beautiful E30 touring. Wow you have done a lot. I do all kinds of BMW engine swaps. I have been working on them for over 25 years. You have done a super clean install. I’m looking forward to reading your guide coming out. There’s more than 1 way to skin a cat. I wanna see how you did everything compared to how I do them. Great thing you have done for the BMW enthusiast community. If I ever blow the engine in my 04 M3 I will be sticking a n54 single turbo conversion in there. It will be cheaper and more powerful. Get a pressure bleeder they are around $40 makes bleeding any hydraulic system a 1 person job and it’s way quicker than pumping. I bought my first one over 20 years ago and fell in love with the ease of use. The vacuum bleeders suck. I bought one and it doesn’t work as good as the pressure bleeder

Garageaholic if you ever need anything BMW related let me know. Do you have ETK and TIS and WDS? 3 different bmw programs that run on Windows. WDS has the wiring diagrams for every bmw from 1980-e36. On one set of disk and there’s a 3rd dvd that’s got all the late model cars on it. Etk is the electronic parts catalogue and has every BMW with exploded views of everything. Has every last nut and bolt along with quantity and interchangeable. You can see every BMW that has that part. Lastly is tis with a bunch of tech documents with repair instructions.
