I'm still proud of MWC member San Diego State Aztecs. Their Cinderella run ended against a perennial national power and the Aztecs have nothing to be ashamed about. This moment belongs to the UConn Huskies.

As a UConn fan, very great job by SDSU, they played their hearts out and have a special group of guys. You're right, they have nothing to be ashamed about they'll be back next year! #GoHuskies

Aztecs did what they'd been needing to do since becoming a solid program. They've won a lot of games, a lot of conference titles, make the tournament basically every year, but had never gotten past the Sweet 16. They needed to prove to recruits and the country that you can get to the Final Four and play for national championships if you play at San Diego State and they did that.
I love how Hurley gives all the credit to Hawkins and Sanogo and not his own world class coaching. He wants his guys to get into the NBA above all else.

Last championship game call by Jim Nantz. Salute to the legendary broadcaster ❤🎙
5th time in their history and the 3rd year of the rabbit in a row that UConn has won the men's basketball national championship. Wow, congratulations to the Huskies. They deserve it.
This tournament will be remembered as the UConn Invitational. Much like UNC in 2009 and Villanova in 2018, their dominance made for some less-than-exciting games in the later rounds but you have to respect excellence and this UConn team definitely displayed that.
Im a UConn fan and Hurley did a great job but that SDSU coach seems like a class act.
1 title every 5 years,congrats UCONN, I remember each one since 99
Uconn men's Bball is surely approaching blue blood status no? 5 titles all won within the last 25 years. Pretty good.

It's actually silly to NOT consider them blue bloods. Don't they have more than basically all of the blue bloods combined in the last 20?

For sure…and what university has that in both men’s and women’s programs!?
@walterlv01

Not approaching - they ARE blue blood status. No question. Duke's 5 national titles came within a 24-year span from 1991-2015 and UConn's 5 have come within a 24-year span from 1999-2023. They are a blue blood in every sense of the term.
Congratulations UConn for championship 🏆

Being a championship winning coach is the best feeling ever, even better than as a player. All the time you put into the team. Well done, Huskies, well done danny hurley.
And UConn is Supposed to be good next year as well so I won’t be surprised if they get a 1 seed next year
Aztecs had a great run hold your heads up sdsu basketball is on the map GO AZTECS

@@andyraphael Kinda of like an Omeka Okafor. But Okafor is by far a superior defensive player when he was at Uconn.
Early in the season, Coach Hurley obviously knew he had a talented team with potential and leading into January they rose out of nowhere, unranked, to a #2 ranking with an undefeated 14-0 record. He noticed the kids were getting tight, not loose like they were leading up to it. With the primary goal of a National Championship and not caring about the record and ranking; he semi-intentionally put his team in a position to lose 'some' games to get the bullseye off his back and ease off some of the pressure from the kids. Also at about that time, in discussing the season with his family and strategy meeting with his coaches etc., Coach Hurley had an epiphany in that, he realized that he did not actually want his team to go into the NCAA's with a #1 or even #2 seed and a near perfect record; that it would be too big of a bullseye and every single team would be bringing their A+ game to upset them; that the sweet spot for his team was a #3 or #4 seed; not really on the radar or below. It proved to be one of the genius tactical and strategic coaching moves of all time.
End of Jim Nantz era
👏congratulations UCONN
UCONN do It!!!!
Jim nantz will see you in golf & NFL
5 chips in 24 years. We are THE basketball power now

You could already tell on Saturday that UConn had the better team... But it was still a great run for the Aztecs to make it all the way to the Championship Game.

Well sorry to hurt your feelings but if we couldn’t beat uconn neither would have fau. Before you discredit sdsu just remember if they were so good they would’ve been there instead of SDSU. But they weren’t. FAU AND SDSU never been to a final four let alone an elite 8. Either way it was a Cinderella story. There’s no “exact-lies” or “what ifs” better team always wins. Give us our flowers we beat the #1 overall seed.
