Not that it mattered, but I felt really frustrated by the lack of prompting on third Daily Double. “5” can mean 5, 500, or 5,000. That could’ve ended up costing Mandy the win had she gotten Final right, since a $5 bet and even a $500 bet could’ve kept her in contention ($9,795 x 2 = $19,590 or $9,300 x 2 = $18,600, more than Ryan’s at the time total of $18,000). Not that I want Ryan to lose, but from a gameplay fairness perspective, come on, man!

I agree. Mayim does a piss poor job of asking contestants for further information or clarification. Alex was a master at that. Mayim on the other hand is all over the lot. Rats, I read the commas wrong: "This trailblazing man, friend & mentor, Oprah, said", suggesting that Oprah was the friend & mentor of the trailblazing man, instead of, "This trailblazing man, friend & mentor, Oprah said", meaning Oprah was commenting about a trailblazing man, friend & mentor. As a result, I was trying to think of someone for whom Oprah had been a mentor, so a younger person - lol. In any case, the clue is awkwardly worded; I highly doubt that Oprah ever referred to him as, "my dear old friend, mentor and trailblazing man, Sidney!"

Ryan doesn't earn much every day. I believe that it will take him two to three times the amount of games that Ken Jennings played to make the same amount of money. Also, I do wonder if Ryan would do better if Ken Jennings was hosting the show; maybe he will still be playing when Ken gets back on later this year.

  • @mr.timetraveler8784

I think it's case by case. Looking at all the superchampions since season 27, Matt Amodio played under various hosts. Meanwhile, his highest total was $83,000 in a single game and he at least $50,000 per game toward his last few games, all while Mayim Bialik was hosting. Jonathan Fisher's only non conservative wager(s) was when he lost to Nancy Donehower. Amy Schneider averaged $34,000 a game, as mentioned by Ken Jennings in game twelve. What's crazy is all 41 of her games were hosted by Ken Jennings! 😮 Mattea Roach's first two games were fairly competitive and she did well under Mayim Bialik. After Ken Jennings started hosting, Mattea wouldn't earn too much until game 17. Between that and the game she lost was when she started to be competitive. I honestly don't know what factors interfere in how much or how little the superchampions win per game.

Many days when there is a long time champion, I’ll feel bad for the other players. But today’s box scores showed Ryan was clearly the best player. He only got one wrong- two if you count FJ. Steve didn’t get any wrong during regular play, but he only attempted to answer 26 times compared to Ryan's 36. Steve was slow on the buzzer at 38%. Mandy was faster, but got more wrong. So, the best player won.

@@adamfanforever2003 i agree that it sucked, but contestants should only be brought back if a decision actually cost them a victory, and since she didn’t get final right and the $5 wouldn’t have brought her close to Ryan’s $17K, the decision didn’t cost her victory, but i agree it was really stupid

@@brianmcdonald6519 A host who deeply understands the game would have prompted her. I don't know if Ken would have, and I'm not saying he definitely would either, but Mayim and the producers absolutely deserve condemnation in this case.

@@masterdoge987 Since it could have put Mandy in contention to win prior to Final with a correct Daily Double response, the producers should bring her back.

I know that everyone knows who it is, but the clue shouldn't just use the name "Oprah." The full name should be there.

And this TRAILBLAZER'S life has been reduce to what Oprah thought of him????? I'm very close in age to Oprah and I'm not black. Mr. Poitier had a very big impact on my perception of black males. Living where I did there simply were not many for me to have an opinion of even though I lived in a very liberal tolerant community. Mr. Poitier was simply so inspiring in his movies from Lilies of the Valley, To Sir with Love, They Call Me Mr. Tibbs, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, In the Heat of the Night, etc. that to have him reduced to what Oprah thought of him (no offense Oprah) seems a bit cheap and really who's going to get that clue in the future. What has happened to Jeopardy since Alex passed away? It seems a bit shoddy these days.

Lol. You seem to forget Oprah is very influential, and has been for decades. You seem to think that what Oprah had to say about him reduces his power and influence, somehow. It does not.
