Video tutorial on how to defeat Trema and Paragon in Final Fantasy X-2 very easily.
The strategy is to have two mascots and a thief, because the mascots can sponge attacks with the auto protect and auto shell abilities. The thief's role in all of this is to attack make sure to have them in caution mode with cat nip as they can do 9999 damage twice with one turn. Two more things you may want to have for the thief is auto haste and a garment grid that raises their luck as Trema has high evasion and hit points. Paragon will not give you much trouble just keep your thief alive by spamming phoenix downs. My advice for the transition into the battle with Trema is to use a stamina tonic and mega elixir at the very start of the battle, the reason for this is I have auto wall for Yuna so she can take much more damage then Paine. Also to speed up the process is using chocobo wings as they will give the whole party haste, making Yuna a little bit faster which is must needed because I have the auto wall accessory on. Yuna also has an ability in her mascot class which casts haste and regen which is very helpful. Two other items I use are soul springs and twin stars, the souls springs are just for fun because I love them and the twin stars are for Paine and Yuna so I don't waste any magic points. Just keep on reviving your thief and you should have him defeated in no time. I hope you all enjoy the video!
How to easily defeat Trema and Paragon
Trema is an optional boss fought in the bottom of Via Infinito in Final Fantasy X-2. He is fought immediately after Paragon, and is regarded as the game's superboss. Trema can be fought in the final cup of the Fiend Arena in the International Version and HD Remaster, and fights identically to how he does in the Via Infinito.
Defeating him in Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster will unlock the "Founder" trophy
The party will start the battle in the condition the Paragon battle ended with.
Trema uses physical attacks that can give the Stop status, Demi, Flare, Ultima, and Meteor. Meteor is a physical attack that hits random targets and takes 12.5% off the target's HP per hit, but the damage can be halved with Protect and reduced to 1 HP damage with Sentinel.
He will use Meteor after losing 50% of his HP and again after losing 75%. After losing 85%, he will use Ultima. Trema only uses Meteor twice in battle.
Trema has very high Evasion, making him near-impossible to hit with regular attacks.
Beating Trema will award the handy Iron Duke accessory, which doubles maximum HP and MP and adds a +100 to all stats except Agility and Luck, which have a respective +10 and +50 bonus.
Trema recites lyrics from the "Hymn of the Fayth" before casting Meteor.

Thanks for this! It worked perfectly! I did equip Yuna with the Break HP Limit GG and Stamina Tablet to make her even more of a tank, it it was worth it too, as it saved me a few times.

thanks for the strategy i didnt have the luck GG due to getting ket to success, so i had rikku hit maybe 3/10 times took half an hour. But i got the iron duke thanks dude
Meteor isn't physical in the remaster. It' s magical that means sentinal or protect won't work.
Mascot has the innate Ribbon, Auto-Shell, and Auto-Protect abilities. And each girl has access to one category of Special Physical Attack Skill Abilities, and another of Magic Spell Abilities. Yuna: Swordplay (for Elemental Physical Damage, lowering the 4 primary stats, and Delay) & Arcana (for Status Ailments, Drain, Black Sky) Rikku: Instinct (for Status Ailments Slow & Poison, lowering Accuracy & Evasion, shattering Shell, Protect, & Reflect) & White Magic (for healing, Dispel, and Reflect) Paine: Bushido (for MP Damage, Preparation Interruption/Action Cancel, Reverting stats to normal levels, and self-healing) & Black Magic (Elemental Magic Damage) So, to be fair, in case of fully mastering the Mascot Dressphere for all 3 girls: One Adamantite, and one Key to Success for each girl. And Higher Power or The End with Mascot. Break HP Limit when equipped. Higher Power: Festivalist, Mascot, Warrior, Dark Knight, & Berserker (All of them have very high HP, even with their max HP sextupled [tripled via accessories then doubled with Howl or Stamina Tablets or Tonics] Max HP for the girls/Dresspheres at Lv.99 from lowest to highest: [Numbers in brackets are maximum value] Black Mage: 2239 [13434] Lady Luck: 2270 [13620] White Mage: 2294 [13764] Songstress: 2301 [13806] Gun Mage: 2523 [15138] Alchemist: 2553 [15318] Gunner: 2837 [17022] Thief: 3084 [18504] Samurai: 3104 [18624] Psychic: 3142 [18852] Trainer: 3239 [19434] Rikku - Festivalist: 3701 [22206] Yuna - Festivalist: 3800 [22800] Warrior: 4122 [24732] Paine - Festivalist: 4396 [26376] Dark Knight: 5355 [32130] Berserker: 5667 [34002] Paine - Mascot: 6521 [39126] Rikku - Mascot: 6594 [39564] Yuna - Mascot: 6647 [39882]
i played this game back in 2004 and all 3 of them used their gun dress spears doing 9999 in damage per bullet

Paragon just uses big bang and deals over 9999 damage. All dead after 1 round...

for me, paragon at some point hit me with 8000-9999 physical damage why????? i have the exact same stats as you :/

He has a less than 40% chance of randomly switching his strength stat. Also his Armageddon attack is programmed to instant kill you.
I dont have the mascot cause i dint get the eoiaode complete from stupid ren investigation

I got my mascot dressphere from beating the youth league tournament in shinras fiend arena. Then got a second mascot when I got episode completes. Not sure what I do with 2 but hey
How is it possible to get Mascot without beating Via Infinito once already?

J-DogXXVIII you only need to get an Episode complete in every area in Chapter 5 or beat the Youth League Cup in the Fiend Arena

Yeah I get that now... man if it wasn't for my fluke victory in the Youth League Cup I probably wouldn't have been able to beat Trema and get the Iron Duke...at least if I NG+'d and followed a specific guide...
How can I lower Rikku's health before entering and keep Paine and Yuna's health up?

Maybe you can fight on the previous floors to keep Rikku on low HP and jump to the last floor without touching recovery magic fields.

Switch accessories from one that lowers your hp to higher. Or one that increases your hp and then reequip the accessory that will give her lower hp

Matheus Assis equipt an alchemist and 2 dark knights with the valiant lustre GG then pass through the nodes for defense 😀
My strat- caught Concherer (Floor 60 boss), gave it Autowall, Autoregen, and replaced attack with darkness (as a guaranteed hit attack)

It seems that the Mascot is this game's version of Zanmato. Guaranteed victory basically if used. 😊 I could not defeat this boss at all in the PS2 version.

Both items can be found in Bevelle underground. Operating the black crane to get it. Each items only have one copy per playthrought.
Paragon is much easier when oversouled.

Imagine if Paragon is still existed as "Final Summoning" back 2 years ago (FFX Timeline). then even Yu Yevon is as good as dead.
He wasn’t sent so hopefully he becomes a monster in a future game
