Even if it isn't permanent it's always good to see both Kyle and Brandon back with the crew.

Aerith is the ONLY ONE who will sing the song as it's specifically made from her POV and is in a way a response to "Hollow". The role of Rosa will indeed be available to other members of the party, but they won't sing.

I had some experience with Motion Capture for video games and gotta say they created a seriously fluid and accurate movement animations and choreography for FFVII. Very good performance capture as far as facial animations are concerned. The cinematic side of these games finally - no pun intended - got the right kind of treatement. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)

Your comment kind of undersells the amount of work that goes into cleaning mocap data. Regardless of how good your capture is, you need animators afterwards to clean up. I'm also impressed with their result though. They have so many cutscenes too.

I havent seen anyone else point this out yet and maybe they do in this video, but the music in the first half of the trailer is a more grandiose sounding Temple of the Ancients theme and I love it.

I noticed that the first time I watched this trailer, though it took me a bit to figure out what song it was exactly since it’s slower. I really like how powerful this version sounds, can’t wait to hear the whole song.

If you notice, the camera starts to pan up on that shot of Aerith and it gives me chills because I'm TERRIFIED to know what's going to actually happen this time.

Not sure if yall know, but No Promises to Keep is aerith's song specifically. There are multiple people you can go on the date with, but, much like Hollow was Cloud's song, this is aerith's song.

Is Hollow not Zack's song? If you look at the lyrics it's all about him being bruised and beaten, but he is inspired by the thought of seeing Aerith again, that he keeps fighting to his final breath to make it back to her. The title of the song, I think, is about his initial need to find purpose, so he leaves her behind. But then his primary purpose becomes to reunite with her after escaping Hojo. But he feels hollow upon returning... finding she is no longer there. I think the lyrics are essentially about how Zack made a mistake, leaving Aerith behind to chase his dream, and it's in his final moments before his death, where he realises his dream girl was waiting for him back at Midgar the whole time, but he'll never make it back. So he hands his legacy down to Cloud to give his life and legacy some meaning. With his soul surviving the encounter in Remake, with no person to hand his legacy off to, and no love to return to in Midgar, he is left feeling empty and hollow. Only once Aerith dies, will the two soulmates be reunited and their true purpose, saviours of the planet, start to become fulfilled when they are together

@@xmant8842 I saw that before release, it's important to note that the video came out before the release of the game, and they obviously didn't want to spoil the ending (since no-one had any idea that Zack was even in the game.) Perhaps Nobuo didn't even want to mention it to the singer, but certainly wouldn't want to spoil the appearance of Zack on camera, so he talks about Cloud instead as a similar character. The part Nobuo describes about Cloud in the rain, is also the same sequence you see Zack limping away from the ambush. Now... I'm not saying you're wrong. But only I have my doubts, the lyrics just don't make sense from Cloud's point of view. I can't see it working at all. The lyrics would only really make sense if Cloud was singing about Tifa, not Aerith. Because while Zack left Aerith to be a SOLDIER, Cloud left Tifa behind to try and impress her. "Had I thought it through, would you be here in my embrace?" ?? What does that have to do with Cloud? He already does have Aerith and Tifa with him. It just doesn't really make sense, but maybe I'm not seeing it. "You're long gone" etc. I think maybe the lyrics make sense if it's Advent Children's version of Cloud who is mopey about Aerith's death, but we haven't come to that point in the story yet, so Zack's situation fits more. Anyhow, just thought I'd mention some skepticism.

@ash_yt0 I believe i can explain that. It's not from the perspective of CC Cloud. It's from the perspective of AC Cloud. Who very much became hollow and became distant from everyone. This is because remake trilogy is a sequel, not an actual remake. Sephiroth knows the "future", aerith knows the "future", and cloud gets visions of it(when he met aerith, he saw what happened in og with holy. When aerith walked ahead of him, he was "reminded" of his dream where she walked through the sleeping forest telling him not to worry and has a tear). And you can't forget that they also played the instrumental in sector 5 slums, specifically when aerith leaves the party for a little while.

This was the last trailer for this game I’m watching. Not long until the game is out and I’ve seen enough to wait until then. Going to sign out of KZread and other social media the day before the game is out to avoid spoilers.

just remember that this experience is new for OG players as well since the game is basically a sequel to the original. I would recommend playing the original as well to fully understand everything.

I think Marlene in the Zack timeline is talking about Genesis. SE made us replay Crisis Core right before Rebirth for a reason. I do also think the 3rd game will be Zack and Cloud fighting Jenova on both sides of the timeline at once (Sephiroth and Genesis).

But Genesis is like... a redeemed character. It's more likely that he'd be on Zack's side rather than against him. I think it's more straightfoward. Marlene says Aerith will die when she awakens. But that's an ambiguous statement, because you could read it as she awakens when she dies. When Sephiroth kills her at the forgotten capital, she will likely wake up (maybe at the Church amongst the yellow flowers which symbolise reunion with your lover.) The game is following the same structure as the original game. But this time around, they're showing us why and how Aerith avoided merging with the lifestream... which enabled her to help the gang at the end of the original game by sending the lifestream to fight Meteor. I think the Whispers are like the black lifestream... they represent fate and death while the white lifestream represents free will and life. By destroying the whispers, Zack is freed from his fate and the whispers no longer guide his soul back to the heart of the planet. And because of that, Aerith finds her way back to Zack by "following the yellow flowers." I also wouldn't be surprised if Sephiroth is helping Aerith in this new white world. He is in the very centre of the box art between the two worlds (Zack's and Cloud's - Zack is under a sky representing freedom, while Cloud is under the cosmos representing inevitability.) We've seen in the OG game what it looks like when Sephiroth's evil side is fully in control, but maybe Sephiroth's human side is helping Aerith and the two worlds are like a reflection of Sephiroth's internal struggle. Cloud is on the side where Sephiroth's single black wing would be. And Zack is on the other side, perhaps where Sephiroth's white wing would be? Explaining the white feathers you see as Zack appears, which is different to the black feathers you see when Sephiroth is screwing with Cloud. I think basically Sephiroth hatched this plan to create a limbo world that Zack and Aerith get sent to instead of returning to the planet (foreshadowed by Biggs mentioning this about Jessie's dad in a coma.) And he does this so that he can help them stop Meteor from destroying the world. He tells Cloud "I will not end, nor will I have you end" so clearly his plan is to save the world from Meteor somehow, and he is a lot friendly to Cloud in that cutscene (which is more apparent in the Japanese version.)

not gonna lie, i took a week off work for this games release back when the last trailer dropped. while i was dying to get my hands on the game i can’t help but feel bummed out about seeing so much of the game already. let’s hope there’s more to be surprised about!

The song lyrics are from aeriths perspective and the singer is trying to channel that but there’s been no confirmation that this is the particular song that is sung at the play. I doubt it will be. Like hollow, this song will play at the end of the game. Whatever song Aerith or whichever character sings in the play will be something relevant to the play and it will be with the original voice actor singing it. They used footage of Aerith singing in the trailer along with other Aerith footage because it was visually complimentary.

"Zack and Cloud will take down Sephiroth together" Doesn't that undermine Cloud's character arc? The point of Cloud's story is that he is a lowly grunt who never made it into SOLDIER, but after discovering his inner strength and finding something to fight for he manages to defeat the greatest warrior alive. If Zack helps him defeat Sephiroth, that's not quite such an achievement, is it? It would be like David getting The Rock to help him take down Goliath.

I think the characters will eventually clue in, then "protect the president", but at the end of it all that hope is extinguished after "the event" occurs

You guys are all sitting around like NFL commentators… The guys on the right seemed to enjoy the trailer. I don’t understand the point of having the guy wearing glasses on who hasn’t played Remake yet. He looks confused and rightfully so. Remake is much more detailed than OG and the whole storyline is so complex. If you miss out on AC or the novels, yet alone Remake or CC- a person is easily lost.

What the hell is even going on anymore? Its like they took random unrelated VII ideas, put them into a Ninja blender, let it set over night then plastered it in a sequel (a sequel of WHAT mind you, we still don't know). Character's coming back to life lose their emotional attachment and value is one thing but this is so far removed from the deeper meaning of VIIs story it looks like a Saturday morning 3d cartoon show on Nickelodeon. Friendly for all audiences as it gets.

They haven't come back to life though. It even hints in the trailer that Zack feels every bullet that killed him, so he knows something odd has happened, but he doesn't know he's dead yet, and neither does the audience playing the game tbf, until it will be revealed. Let me put it like this... did Bruce Willis walking around for the entirety of The Sixth Sense ruin the emotional impact when you realised he was dead the whole time? Not really. And we'll find out in time where Zack is exactly. Not to spoil things, but it's fairly straight forward to figure out. In OG FF7, Aerith comes back at the very end, as Meteor is destroying the planet. She summons the lifestream from beyond the grave, and it defeats Meteor. However, it is left unexplained how her consciousness is still alive. How it survived her own death. In Remake, they're giving you the explanation. The first clue to this is seeing how Zack did the exact same thing. He died outside Midgar, but his consciousness and his soul broke through the Whispers barrier around Midgar, and he returned to Midgar to wait there for Aerith. That's why we get this song about Aerith reuniting with Zack. That's why the play Loveless has always been about broken promises, but that the lovers will still reunite.

Aeris Lives! Zack survives! Jesse is back! I feel like all the stakes are getting tossed out the window in favor of fan service.

If you have time to read on the official squareenix post your not asking this question, by the way the seen where Jesse play as princess Rosa was only a VR recording of her previous rule when she is performing in the Gold Saucer before she join avalanche, and Aerith will still die in Clouds timeline, but somehow survive in Zacks timeline but in a Coma state.
