Night Sky, Strelitzia is not the same person as the Nameless Star residing in the Final World. This is the first time I've heard about Strelitzia is nicknamed Stella. The Nameless Star is the woman that Yozora was trying to rescue in the Verum Rex commercial; the one many people nicknamed Stella.

But Nomura is a victim of his own imagination. He has good ideas but no idea how to make a cohesive story. That’s the hugest difference between an adequate or accomplished writer. Even his character designs. He obviously designs good memorable characters..but they all follow the same motif, no matter where they belong… belts, buckles and chains.

I really hope Tetsuya Nomura fits in as much of Final Fantasy Versus XIII in Kingdom Hearts IV as possible, he deserves to tell that important story of his in any way, shape, or form

I heard (from a leaker so take with a metric ocean's worth of salt,) that KH4 was originally supposed to be named Verum Rex but Nomura changed it last minute. I hope Verum Rex gets to be its own, Yazora focused game like phase 2's Birth by Sleep.

KH4 is definitely the culmination of Nomura's "revenge". He'll get his VS XIII in some form, whether SQEX likes it or not! And I'm honestly excited for whatever comes!

I’m totally up for an off the rails KH that uses FF not with the characters but the themes that could have been. Your idea of “revenge” is a nice spice and I would LOVE to see Nomura’s retribution in the form of classic samurai film motifs in this.

It was never completed and we have no idea what the actual game would’ve been. It probably just would’ve been another convoluted mess that turned into a series of games of cliffhangers and confusion. Just as he’s done with kingdom hearts and now final fantasy 7 remake. Don’t get me wrong, I like Nomura’s games, but at the same time it would be nice to have a game with a fully resolved ending at the end, instead of just a teaser for the next game in 5 years. Although, Nomura’s formula probably works better for Square’s pocket book. Never ending series means fans waiting and ready to give out more money. Just like the marvel movies.

@@lovesgibson Just as he's done? Square wanted him to do the countless spinoffs instead of letting him work solely on Versus 13. Square dumped FF7R on him hot off of KH3. And he didn't even write the changes in FF7R. And you honestly can't believe that he decided on FF7R being episodic.

I feel like Versus XIII was such a big passion project for Nomura that when the IP was taken away from him so he could focus on KH3 and FFVII Remake, it (pun intended) broke his heart. I think it's why we see so much of the art and stylistic approach in KH3 and KH4 alluding to it. It's a shame, I think they initially put too many projects on him that led to Versus XIII, KH3, and FFVII Remake being delayed for more than 10 years in development. No fault to his own, but as many directors (including Hironobu Sakaguchi) moving onto different projects and companies in the mid 2000s, at the time he was one of the big and up and coming directors who could take on such immense projects. I've always wondered what Versus XIII would have "been". FFXV was great, but something about what they had intended for every character in Versus XIII. including the character Stella Nox Fleuret, just seemed so intriguing. I wonder if we'll ever know what could've been. Or maybe, KH4 is supposed to be the spiritual successor to that.

Yeah but remember after lighting defeated the final boss in lightning returns they were all reborn I say we might get caius instead since he did become the new watcher or god for the dead

The kicker about Noctis having the Omen dream is that every scene with Luna in it is completely removed. She doesn't even get screentime in his dreams.

The only reason people don't is either they forgot about it because they got jaded from such a long, disappointing wait, or because it's shamed upon fans for ever believing their was ever a different concept ever despite their being multiple trailers that show that concept in great detail. And why? Because of a couple rumors and a statement by one of the directors who wanted to sell his game to the public.

Bro you noticed Nomura wanted to do VERSUSXIII and it's gives more hype than the endor hint. Even the battle gave me vsxiii vibes even the heartless looks different like it's a demon instead of the heartless we came to know and love. This shows Nomura never ever forgotten until gotten kicked off his dream project...which he didn't took it well and he's making it really clear that he will bring back his dream project like it or not.

Same. Nothing will come close to seeing Noctis and friends again especially when I keep being bombarded by reboots and remasters of other Final Fantasy titles. I want Nomura to come back and work with Tabata and all the writers and listen to the criticism and make a brand new story.

Honestly not a day goes by where I'm not kinda bummed about Versus XIII

Even Nomura himself said that Versus XIII is a game that will never get to exist. XV is a similar but very different game, and Verum Rex seems nearly identical yet cannot be the Versus XIII because of the restrictions put upon him by Square and Disney. It's pretty sad to have an idea yet be unable to fully share it with the world.

Honestly, I think he had an outburst within the higher ups of SQEX and Disney because of so much restrictions that's why we see on the Remind the doubling down on the Vs13 concept. This is just my speculation on what happened, that because of so much restrictions placed upon his team on developing KH3, that he had an outburst in the middle of developing it that the higher ups was forced on lessening the restrictions that's why starting from Remind DLC we see more and more a resemblance of Vs13. Higher ups were forced to lessen it because if Nomura leaves, many veterans will also leave with him. That would certainly affect the stocks of SQEX.

As someone who doesn't care about Kingdom Hearts... This kinda makes me interested in KH4.

It's weird that I want to see two versions of final fantasy 15, one where Nomura finished the game and the other where Tabata had more time to make 15.

Great job on this video! You hit a lot of great points on these references. We may never get to see Versus XII how Nomura wanted to tell it. But he will show us another way and it will be amazing. Nomura is just telling the fans of Versus XIII to be ready.

I don't think Versus XIII will be the only Final Fantasy we'll be getting in KH4 (hopefully) and recently i've been replaying FF7R in jp dub and, lo and behold, i noticed that the voice narrating in the KH4 trailer is Takahiro Sakurai, Cloud's jp voice actor so hopefully we get a FF7 world as well.

Having the true orginal versus 13 and xv complete would be amazing but neither will come true

When that versus trailer came out I probably watched it a million times I thought it was so cool and was stoked for versus 13 I want to see Nomura vision in kh4 it should make for an amazing game!

Bro, I never realized such connections and symbolism through FFVIII-Versus and KH4. I remember seeing the trailer, and made realize how amazing the story could have been. I hope Nomura's fantasy finally get his dream to bloom within reality. (Get it?)

The taxes really got me. That's some deep lore right there Nomura.

Back when Square was hyping Fabula Nova Crystallis series I always thought Versus XIII was the most interesting of the bunch. It's a pity we'll never get to experience what that game would have been like but if Nomura is able to reuse his ideas from it in KH then that's better than nothing.

I also want to point out that in FF15 (as I am playing it now, cause I haven't played since launch). The Ragnarok Sword is very similar to the sword Yozora uses, too.

Nomura got a lot of my respect. Seeing a creative person like him wanting to salvage his idea and creative vision so badly is very impressive. Even if it should turn out to be terrible I'm glad he tried. I think Kingdom Hearts can't get worse than it already is after Birth By Sleep, Dream Drop Distance and 3. So let this man create the story he wants to tell. Ironically the mobile game story looks very promising. The Master of Masters and the dandelions are interesting characters.

Hence, I think learning from mistakes I think he’ll give it his all and use the help around him to make KH4 and the supposed Verum Rex game he’s discussed working on his ultimate magnum opus.

Its almost like Nomura is jaded, his baby that he spent 7+ years developing with only 20-25% of a game to show for it was taken from him. So hes decided to highjack his successful franchise to make the game HE wants. Im sorry, but had FF versus 13 been taken away from him sooner FFXV might have been a more beloved and well regarded game. If Nomura could drop all the Disney elements from KH like he did with the FF ones he would at this point.

KH4 looks interesting, but I've honestly never really been interested in Kingdom Hearts, so I do hope that Nomura is able to properly realize Versus XIII.

Furthering that whole “4=death” thing, KH3 introduced a sort of “ancient Keyblade wielder language” with special unique symbols that mean different letters and numbers. In particular, the number 4 ends up resembling an “X”. And prior to this in the KH series, the letter X was often associated with “X (pronounced chi, key, or kai)” , which the main antagonist Xehanort described as being an ancient letter that meant “death” and “endings”. Now with Xehanort and his ambitions out of the picture, suddenly there’s room for the letter X to have a new meaning to flesh out its mystery even further. 👀

I'm not much of a fan of Nomura's modern work, but his FF13 Versus sounded way more interesting than what we got in FF15. TBH, I think Square should just friggen let Nomura make Versus as an original IP. It doesn't seem to fit very well with KH, especially with Disney breathing down their neaks. Square really needs to bring Sakaguchi back. It's no coincidence that after he left the franchise started going downhill. He doesn't need to be directly leading anything, but have a position like Miyamoto at Nintendo.

Final Fantasy 15 was just disappointing in its final state but hopefully if it's gonna come back in another form in this case through Kingdom Hearts then hopefully it'll be much better.

FFXVI looks like it could be pretty brutal, judging by that trailer.

Something I’m surprised nobody is calling out here - the idea of Verum Rex’s Quadratum being a “world of the dead” isn’t necessarily a change, since this has its own roots in VSXIII. Within Fabula Nova Crystallis lore, Etro, the goddess that would have been worshipped in that game’s world, was a goddess of the dead, who lived in the world of the dead… a world that was extremely important, because all of the other gods in the Fabula Nova Crystallis universe were trying to find it and bust open its gates. Nobody outside that Otherworld even knew who Etro was, so I think it’s entirely reasonable to suggest that Insomnia, and the greater setting of VSXIII, might have turned out to BE the land of the dead, or at least connected to it in a way none of the other FNC worlds were, if that story had been brought to fruition.

Man what I think with scene of Yozora winning against Sora is what they gonna use in KH4. So I’m what thinking they’re going to do is just like in KH2 with Roxas, it’s going to be a prologue of Yozora gameplay for about 3-6 hours. And then at the end of the prologue, he will face and beat Sora declaring him the winner while showing the Sora crystallized. After that both him and Sora will say “I been having these weird thoughts lately” which segue into the trailer we gotten for KH4 of Sora waking up. That would be so perfect to start off KH4.

I'm glad you pointed out that the beginning of the trailer for IV had a theme that resembles Nox Aeterna. I did not see anyone else bring it up, and i thought that i was the only one that noticed.

Sora way less worried about why this stranger is somehow in his apartment than I would be...

I sympathize with Nomura on this whole thing. Hope he gets justice done for his love project. Many of us loved it too.

The haircut of Sora in the new trailer just looks like the haircut of Noctis somehow... the only difference is the hair color.

Considering that Nomura was debating making a Verum Rex game but decided to do KH4 first so that we wouldn't have to wait as long as we did for KH3, my guess is that if we don't get to play as Yozora in KH4, we will in his game, which will probably where Nomura will unload more of the ideas he had for Versus 13.

Even if it carries the ideas and themes of Versus XIII, it still won't be in the Fabula Nova Crystallis continuity, and by its name seemed to call back to XIII. I guess we'll never know how XIII, Versus XIII and Agito XIII were supposed to be somewhat connected.

4:00 OMG i got chills. You know it makes sence to make the music sound simulator considering Yoko Shimomura wrote the music for both Kingdom Hearts AND Final Fantasy 15! I absolutely LOOOOOOVED FF15! Its my favorite game of all time. So listening to that little bit of music, knowing Yoko Shimomura made the music of FF15 and KH, makes me VERY exited for this game! Especially knowing we're FINALLY gonna get Final Fantasy Versions XIII in some way. I think im more excited for it because of FF Versus XIII being put in this game. Im a huge FF fan, so.

I am so glad to have found this video. When the new KH trailer first dropped I immediately thought of Versus XIII and couldn't believe that nobody else I knew was making that connection. Glad I'm not crazy!

If they released the omen and the Versus 13 alternate DLC then 15 would’ve been the best

I used to watch the Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer back then. I can't wait to see how Nomura ties in Versus XIII to Kingdom Hearts IV.

I believe a lot of the VS13 found its way in FF15, at least when it comes to the basic story. However, I don't think Sora is dead or this is a "fictional" reality as some people like to say. More than likely there are several realities that exist in the game's universe. This is a theory video to come, but, the reality that Quadratum exists within probably has a Kingdom Hearts that has been completely sealed. That is why Light and Dark have no power in this reality. I think Nomura might be trying to show that the darker tone would have done well. But I see KH4 focusing on transitions rather than death.

Aside characters, some settings, and minimal plot beats, ffxv is an entirely different game than anything conceptualized for versus 13. Even Tabata admitted as such, that this was a new game. Most of versus 13 was sacrificed for the development of ffxv. The only story beat that Nomura really wanted Tabata to capture was the road trip. That was achieved. The overall theme and story however are completely different from what Nomura wanted.

@@NyreenGotto the road trip, but Nomura really wanted it to be a "road movie" which is a genre that explores themes of alienation and one's cultural identity and the identity of a nation or historical period, and the characters engage in lawless behavior and struggle against existential internal conflict. Meanwhile in FFXV, Noctis will hear that his kingdom was obliterated and then he can go back to fishing and feeding a fussy cat, camping, and hunkering down in the most expensive hotel in the middle of Lestallum as if Niflheim never occupied the place and shot a man in cold blood. The stakes of the narrative are decimated by the lack of tension in that Noctis's victory was assured before he was even born because of a prophecy and the power of gods intent on making him do what he's supposed to, which he and his allies accept with no objections in the main game. During VERSUS XIII's promotional blurbs the party was explicitly stated to be _"Not the type of people who bear the fate they're given; therefore, they will fight alongside Noctis to defy their destiny"._ what we end up with in game is Noctis telling his friends he's going to die, and they she'd a few tears but otherwise don't fight against it to save him.

It’s sad to see Versus XIII never come to be because it’s so cool looking and I feel like it just had completely different vibes that the final game while not necessarily bad just couldn’t match

I actually didnt know about versus xiii until after I finished xv. I remember just having the reveal trailer for versus xiii being in my recomended and I fell in love with it instantly. Discovered more infomation about and until this day now waiting to see what kh4 truly brings to maybe give that franchise a go. Like man I loved xv in its own way but we could of truly got something special with versus xiii. Oh also I remember someone saying that the reason noctis sees the omen trailer is to show what will happen if he goes on his journey alone. No idea how true that is.

FFXV is the body of a game that never got to exist, while Kingdom Hearts IV may well be it's soul. This excites me more than you can possibly imagine.

He has apparently said somewhere that he cried when he drew Noctis for the first time after being removed from Versus. That's very clearly trauma. After all the shit Square pulled with Versus, he has every right to feel the way he does, and I hope to hell he's able to give us this story somehow. He deserves it.

Think of it, he spent like a decade building it up. It was his child, it was 100% his. He only ever created characters before, but this time he can create the world his character will be in. With KH, he never really had full control because Square and Disney would be down his neck. However, since Versus 13 was a spinoff title, he could get as dark a s he wanted and basically do whatever tf he wanted. Word is, it was going to be like a Shakespearean epic. It had such a cool vibe to it that I genuinely don't think it'll ever get back. Yozora's great and all but he's not as cool as Versus 13 Noctis was.

I hope he does too since 7 got a remake but i doubt it will happen or ever, even tho 15 has its flaws but aleast we got noctis but not with Nomura version of the game.

@@LightningXoX13 yeah 7s remake with nomura directing took different turns in his style for 15 to get a remake it has to be decades in the future & most likely nomura may not even be around so at this point he has kingdom hearts to finish

Another layer to the death thing is wearing all or a lot of white symbolizes death as well in japanese culture. So it makes sense for strelitsia's white dress. Even sora has a little bit of white. Although the move for more black in his design could also be the western take on wearing lots of black in a period of mourning.

I'm over versus 13. We've learned too many times what heavily delayed, stopped an started games bring us lol.

I'm fairly what certain he'll still be in the picture, MAYBE not as big as we might've expected him to be, at least in 4, but Nomura said he was torn as to whether or not to make 4 or VR and ultimately chose 4 cus he didn't wanna leave everyone worrying about Sora for YEARS, so I think either VR will get made as the next game after 4, or that a lot of the focus on Yozora that would've been on him will be somewhat of a side plot for now, and maybe VR will be a prequel game showcasing his whole story prior to us meeting him (aka versus?? who knows)

We don't know why people from Union χ never aging, include The Lost Master.

i wanted a FF7 remake, i wanted a KH3 and didnt care much for V13 years ago in 2009, but the more i read the more i wanted V13 (by 2010) more i realized we were not getting it. glad to see hes reincorporating these into KH4

How does kh have “everything”? Its only draw is that its a AAA game with disney stuff. I dont think anyone played kh and thought “wow, what a game changing innovative masterpiece”

I only find it hard that even with this new "realistic" world they enter, the characters just dont appeal as good as the more "mature" look like Noctis/Regis was in Versus/XV Lets hope Nomura can finish Versus 13 since we know a FF7 Remake Trilogy is possible, then V13 has a way too😉

These alternate reality and multiverse are really getting out of hand there. I can't believe I forgot the 4 in Japanese resemble "death" and could make a connection with Versus XIII.

I’d just really like them to advantage of this opportunity to mourn the dead series beyond Versus XIII, like the Type 0 games, and just generally be representative of the dead dreams of the HD Era of Square Enix. Perhaps a Nier nod as well Emil or sumn, showing how at least some aspect of the darkness made way for a dream to make it into reality with Yoko Taro. All the while acknowledging he very often rode that line between life and death for his series with every game leading up until Automata

As long Nomura with kh I don't see any vs stuff going away anytime soon don't blame him after what happened with vs but sucks the kh series has to suffer for it

It will probably not take too long until Nomura finally puts the obvious sign(s) into the Kingdom Hearts title(s) too, right? Just going by the PSP game title gives indications already.

KH4 will probably lay down the ground work and Verum Rex will probably be what VS 13 became
