Historically, this motif was known as the 'Prologue' theme. It was banned to the very end sequence for Final Fantasy VI to IX, and later even vanished from the series in some instalments. However, in an interview on the official Final Fantasy channel six years ago, it was even presented as the Final Fantasy series' "main theme" (which was formerly the 'Prelude' theme).
