For those who don't know Final Fantasy VII was developed for the PSX instead of N64 because Square didn't think they could fit the game onto a cart.

Remember when Square left Nintendo because the N64 had cartridges? Times have changed.

Soulless Living Even though they work differently in terms of format and compatibility, the right word you’re looking for is just “disc”, since that’s what they are physically. So to be more specific, they went from CD format, to DVD format, to Blu-ray format, all discs.

If they do release Tactics, it will be the war of the lions version, and 10 to 1 says they won't fix the slowdown from the PSP... Then again, maybe Nintendo will force them to actually make good ports instead of the crap ports they've made in the past for PC. FFT is my favorite for sure, and I own seven different versions of it... I would not hesitate to buy it again if it were released on Switch.

i feel the same. although ring of fates felt like a stand alone game to me and it was much more story driven... it was probably one of my favorite games on the DS. don't remember if they continued the series after that... i always wanted them to bring crystal chronicles back, as it was my favorite of all of the final fantasy series, despite being a spinoff. i'm really hoping the switch version has local play. it would be easy to do and it's a great multiplayer game

ninjaruss There were a few more weird ones that were basically “A spin-off of a spin-off”. But they never got a physical release, only the original Wii’s eshop. Which means... they’re literally impossible to get legally anymore. But there was a *proper* sequel called Crystal Bearers, which I still swear, to this day, has the best telekinesis combat system of any game. I think that was the last game though. But a remake gives me hope

My Life as a King/Darklord were very different but good games. A kingdom building sim and a tower defense game. Story wise they take place right after the original Crystal Chronicles game.

One of the most underrated jrpg's of all time. I would put golden sun and its sequel up there with chrono trigger and DQ8 as the best in the genre an in my opinion better than any final fantasy and i like most of the final fantasy games.

SUPERULTRAMAGNUM I remembered as a kid, I was blown away by the game when I first played it in my gb advance :) I love every aspect of it. They made it in such a way that even grinding wasn't so frustrating. :) Lost Age was an instant buy for me.

Turning point in history of gaming. Now all i want to see is a physical cartridge confirmation for FFVII. The irony of that would be priceless

I'd rather see Level-5 (Yo-kai Watch, Professor Layton) do a Mario RPG. I don't know why, I just think Square should stick to more realistic RPGs as well as Dragon Quest.

No love for VIII? I've always thought it was the red-headed stepchild of the series, but it was one of my favourites because of the sheer uniqueness of its world and story.

I just looked it up. Nintendo switch cartridges hold up to 32gb!!! Final fantasy 7 according to google was around 1.4 gb total!! So it could easily store on a switch cartridge. Not sure why im seeing people claim it wouldn't fit. Thats ridiculous.

@@warfionproductions6580 we had KH games for Nintendo before so it would be stupid couse KH3 is a Masterpiece ..and I know that for sure since that game was so long in development so much years of hard work it would be stupid not to realise it somehow and I mean if they can get a huge game like Skyrim on switch ..then any main KH game shouldn't be that hard since Skyrim was for PS3 and even PS4 ...so yeah KH 1&2 was for Ps2..just saying I would be happy with that if they can't put the PS3 HD Versions on Switch ..but technically it should work and if it takes 2-3 Years I would wait cuz then we have a good port or maybe the best port experience from this game wich will selling like nothing they will eventually run out of KH3 copys

Warfion Productions I mean, if they port the PS1 version, I'd be fine with that. But knowing Square Enix, my guess is that they think it would be easier to port the PC version, which uses MIDI tracks (outdated audio files), which is probably why it isn't getting ported to the Switch and Xbox One.

Eyes on me. Became extremely popular. Rumour is SE refuse to pay Faye Wong for rights to that song (probs on the basis the song was made for the game and song royalties are wanted due to time) . It's not about the porting, trust me on that. And if SE wanted to, they'd port the PS1 edition, it's not as hard as some think.

Makes me curious about whether the Crystal Chronicles game will have local multiplayer as well. The one for GameCube did, but required a bunch of GameBoy Advance games with the cables for it, which was just inconvenient.

This video is over a year old, but I just got the switch light and I was blown away when I saw I could play ff8 and ff9 on it. It's almost the perfect nostalgia machine except for one thing... the only piece missing is Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Do it. DO IT.

Yeah just spoil that scene with tidus and yuna for people who haven't played

It fills me with joy that there's a lot of FF fans here! So far from what I've seen, FF seems to have a chilled fan base and that's awesome. I can't for these games to come out and see some new players get into the FF series.

I'm so excited for all these classic RPGs coming to the Switch. My all time favorite FF7 and I remember Crystal Chronicles. I can't wait for the great games coming this year. 😻

Part 1 for NES and 3 for SNES (also called part 6) are still my favorites. Mostly because they are what I grew up with.

Years ago I never would have thought PS1/PS2 era Final Fantasy games would release on a Nintendo console. Pretty crazy.

So pretty much all the games nintendo missed on after the snes

My favorite FF announcement was FF9 and the Chocobo game. Chocobo games are so good, please ppl buy it so Square makes another game.

Not particularly. There's lots of mystery dungeon games, which all belong to the Roguelike genre. The Pokemon mystery dungeon series is probably the most well known one, though. (Sorry if I make little sense).

@@Vwemmy no the frist Pokemon mystery dungeon came out in 2005 the frist chocobo Dungeon came out in 1999 on the PS1. If anything it's the other way around

It was mine too!!!! But if this version doesn't have local multiplayer I'll be really disapointed ; ; I won't buy it either as I already own the gc version and my joy was to play with my sisters ^^

as a PS4 player, I'm happy that people on Nintendo can experience these titles! even if not all of them are there...

Pretty sure that it's from the ending of FFVIII.

This announcer's voice sounds so nice from 2:20

Sony Ponies have moved on, it took them 20 years but their big shtick now is that Horizon:Zero Dawn and Nier:Automata are better than BOTW. *wipes tears of laughter from eye* They've since omitted Nier because it's now on Xbox One. Their war on two fronts is they are better than xbox because they have the exclusives. But in the same breath they are better than nintendo because they have the power and they don't need the exclusives, because third party is what works.

I guess , I hope they don't add FFXIV online to the switch can't deal with hardware limitations

I don't want to come across as ungrateful or anything, but why 2019 for FFVII and IX? I would have imagined they'd be pretty easy port jobs. Unless we're getting Switch specific features?

@@warfionproductions6580 well ff3 wasnt too bad. They just didnt tweak the ui for 3 and 4 to translate well from mobile to steam. Ff9 was remastered on steam before mobile got the port due to being built from the ground up. So yeah it is the best remaster available.

Oh my god..Final Fantasy is coming back home to Nintendo, you have no idea how happy this makes me.

Now we need Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV the After Years on Switch.

FFVII finally is where it belongs.

Nope lol. Nintendo should stick to real handheld consoles. Maybe in year 2040, that time's current Nintendo console might JUST be able to run FF7 remake ROFLMAO

FFXIV is a good MMO

They better polish up crystal chronicles. At least get it to stable 30 FPS if square wont bother with 60 FPS

I've seen this kind of downgrade in tales of symphonia hd for the ps3, I sincerely hope this doesn't happen to crystal chronicles! On gc it ran at 60fps so it should remain that way.

Is there an updated time period for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles at the moment? I am SO excited to play this game again, and with online multiplayer it should be a blast.
