Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues the overarching narrative first introduced in Final Fantasy VII Remake (2020) and reimagines the plot, world, and cast of the original Final Fantasy VII (1997). The game takes place on a world known as "The Planet" and centers on the journey of the main characters as they seek to end the tyranny of the Shinra Electric Power Company, which controls the megalopolis of Midgar by weaponizing the Lifestream, and defeat Sephiroth , a legendary veteran of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit who was presumed dead and now seeks to summon Meteor to wound the Planet, enabling him to attain godhood by uniting with the Lifestream. Rebirth will span the events from leaving Midgar to the Forgotten Capital, though the order in which locations are explored is changed from the original game. For example, the visit to Wutai will be saved for the third installment.
The central protagonist and leader of the game's main party is Cloud Strife, a former member of SOLDIER's 1st Class who now works as a mercenary assisting the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE, which opposes Shinra's exploitation of the Planet and its resources. Accompanying him are two members of the group: Barret Wallace (John Eric Bentley), its brazen but empathetic leader, and Tifa Lockhart , Cloud's childhood friend and a bartender at the 7th Heaven bar in Midgar, who is a compassionate but shy practicing martial artist. They are joined by Aerith Gainsborough (Briana White), a flower merchant who previously lived in Midgar's Sector 5 Slums and is the sole survivor of the ancient Cetra; Red XIII, an intelligent quadruped from Cosmo Canyon who Shinra held captive as a lab rat; and Yuffie Kisaragi, an expert Materia thief and ninja from Wutai who resolves to join the team to realize Shinra's downfall after a failed attempt to extract the "Ultimate Materia" from their headquarters caused her to lose her partner Sonon Kusakabe.Supporting characters will play roles throughout the story, including Zack Fair, Aerith's boyfriend and the previous wielder of the Buster Sword, who helped him and Cloud escape after Shinra experimented on them using the cells of the extraterrestrial life-form JENOVA; Cait Sith , a robotic cat remotely controlled by Shinra's Head of Urban Development Reeve Tuesti ; Vincent Valentine , a former member of the Turks who Professor Hojo experimented on; and Cid Highwind , a grizzled pilot from Rocket Town and an ex-Shinra rocket scientist who is dedicated to achieving spaceflight. Also appearing are Bugenhagen , the elder of Cosmo Canyon; AVALANCHE member Biggs (Gideon Emery), who, unlike in the original game, survives the Sector 7 Plate's collapse in Midgar and now seeks revenge against Shinra for the deaths of his friends; and Elena (a new recruit of the Turks who seeks to apprehend Cloud and his allies.

100% agreed. And as A203D said, barret’s response is fantastic too. I really love how they’ve given so much attention to the character interactions in rebirth. My favourite characters in gaming are giving me even more reason to love them!

@@A203Dit also led up to the perfect timing for Sephiroth to intervene. He could tell the real Cloud was emerging, and we couldn’t have that now could we?
I love seeing Barret and Cloud being bros. They didn't like each other in the beginning. Cloud didn't like Barret's up-in-your-face, leader energy, and Barret didn't like Cloud's lip and apathy. But then they started to realize that they have plenty in common, and really warm up to each other. Fantastic storytelling.

I think it shows who Cloud truly he is. He’s mischaracterized as this apathetic, loner kid who is selfish. But at his core, he’s a deeply compassionate individual who cares for everyone around him. He’s just awkward and introverted as hell so it’s hard to show it. “There’s not a thing I don’t cherish.”

This is why I love RPG games; characters try to be at their best, but when they're at their lowest, the people around them help and support them. They go from essentially being strangers united by a common goal to practically being family.
From a vampire hating on the Joe star bloodline to a side character helping out the good guys... Talk about a redemption arc..

"I'm starting to think you might" that line gets me over and over again. Considering these 2 had a knife at each others throat for so long, it amazing to watch unfold.

I'm really glad they expand the Barret and Dyne story in here, and we can really feel the emotion in their story compared to the original one......

Nah, if they did this in-universe itll be somewhere along the lines of Barret carrying Dyne’s spirit along with him. It’s very similar to how Zack gave Cloud his Buster sword right before death

I see why they did it but I seriously hate that such an emotional scene was ruined by Shinra showing up. That’s what happens whenever Shinra get involved

I like the old version of this scene a lot better, not only for the emotional part but words Dyne said we lot better in context. They forgot Dyne handing Barret Elenore pendant and telling him never make Marlene cry.

Simplemente no lo juegues man y se acabo. Esta bien que tengas esa opinión y se respeta pero a mi si me gusto mucho ademas recuerda que en el juego original pasa algo similar... despues de la muerte de Dyne lo que sigue son carreras de chocobos. Dale un chance al juego sea como sea tiene su gracia y le gusta a muchos.
